Assuming that they both have the parts that I need, and I usually buy 2 because I lose things easily, is it worth the difference to get the ‘real’ Mikuni kit or is the aftermarket one just as good?

The aftermarket kit I bought is close to worthless . Jets included are 7 sizes too rich , idle screw is a different length, etc.

I dealt with this extensively on some jet skis.... Go OEM.

As others said, OEM. I bought one of those knockoffs and as Pro said, almost nothing worked. Gaskets were too thin and didn’t seal, jets wrong etc.

Agree with profes, almost every 2 stroke carb kit ive bought lately has had jets that were waay off base jetting, wrong float needles/seats. It's worth it get the keihn branded one.

My 1st question is why do you need it?

I hadn’t ridden my Dual Sport much at all over the course of a year and a half. I figured that I’d have a little bit of sludge in the carb but it was a little bit worse than that. I actually have all the correct jets, plunger, etc, from a spare JD kit and another bag of new carb parts that came with the bike, but like I said I am terrible with having little pieces and clips disappear while I’m working on it. I think I’ll just get one of each and keep the cheap one as a backup just in case. Really I’m only after the o rings, springs, and clips but trying to piece those out makes less sense than just getting a rebuild kit.

I also realized that my fuel petcock failed so I had to do 2 oil changes to make sure that I got all the fuel out of the cases and replaced the old petcock with one of the manual Raptor units.
