On my 3rd pair of TP’s love them. Wondering if anyone has tried the slayco and can give me some feedback. Looks like they’re a bit longer above the knee.

My only complaint with the slayco's is the lower shin padding gets compressed into my shins by my boots and I definitely feel it by the end of the day.

I went with the Slayco about 4 months ago. I don’t have the downward slide after 4 motos like my roommate does with his TP199’s. Whether that’s due to the difference in the amount of material above the knee, though, I couldn’t tell you.

Both kneepads pictured are size L/XL

The main differences I see are 1.  the “sleeve” setup of the Slayco, 2. the size of the shin pads, & 3. the height above the knee.

1.  The TP199 uses two thin vented sleeves, one above the knee & one below that connect at the knee area. One strap goes behind the thigh & around to secure the top & another goes just below & behind the knee to secure the bottom section. He complains that the straps get irritating on long days.

The Slayco uses ONE sleeve top to bottom with only a small strap around the FRONT of the thigh to secure the pad. There is no lower strap. A smaller inner sleeve with an open kneecap helps keep things in place.

2.  The TP199 shin pad is thinner, but massive in area compared to the Slayco. The TP199 shin pad goes soooo deep into the boot that it feels excessive. I like the Slayco shin pad. Memory foam type protection over just the right sized area.

3.  The Slayco does seem to go quite a bit higher above the knee than the TP199. I haven’t experienced any rolling of the material, but the strap being in the front is the big advantage here in my opinion…

The Slayco one is better imo.

I wore TP199 for years, but looking back, those things don’t vent very well and are hot.

Plus, both straps, especially the lower one, got very uncomfortable, and they didn’t stay velcroed very well.

Get the Slayco one. Better venting. 1 strap. Works perfect.

My 1st gen asterisk split the martial on the calf.  So I bought the Slayco 96 the latest model.  I measured my calf& thigh I,m a 1/2 in under the max window for the small, medium.  The bottoms are wayy too small .  I called EVS last week they know of the problem & are shipping large , x large out.  He  a  Real nice cool guy said to cut the bottom off with the rubber grip.  I can get them on but there Very tight.  I should’ve had the larger pair by Thursday, Friday at the latest .  I still don’t hv them.  I called twice today to get vm.  They sized them for Axle but he has very tiny calf’s.  I saw a man like that recently super tiny calf’s.  Quite a few features with a lot of thought like inner knee has padding a mix of biofoam & rubber for gripping the bike , vented materials, etc, etc.  they put a lot of thought into making them   . And there high quality. I skipped practice, didn’t look at the track . I got them on and raced they worked great . I,ll use them for bmx too if the fb guy ever answers back to buy his bike. I hv Very boney shins remember the foot peg pic that ripped my shins open to the bone 48 stitches 4 yrs ago.  There working on resizing them .  I wear fox instinct boots I never noticed the Slaycos on. You can bend & move perfectly with them on, press your knee in hard into the front shroud to get frontend to stick .  Unlike knee braces alot of restrictions there .

Man what a great breakdown thanks. That lower shin pad on my tp’s would hang up a little on my tech 10 inner boot too.

. I’m gonna try the slayco’s

I modified my TP199. I simply removed the very bottom plastic shin piece but kept the fabric in place. Much more comfortable for a technical 8 hour dual sport. event. The boots provide plenty of shin protection already - at least the SIDI boot does....

The slayco ones are tight asf. I ordered L/XL (im 5'10 195lb) and couldn't even bend my leg with them on. I do have thicker quads but nothing "crazy".

TBH my RS9s are more comfy than the TPs and the slaycos, I have all three. I've been on and off the RS9s for literally 12 years. Tried other braces, pads, always come back to these.

I planned to post this and realized we both did the exact same thing! I got tired of the lower shin piece conflicting with my Tech-10 inner bootie and ended up making a small incision and pulling the lower plastic shin piece out of the guard and it solved the issue for me too! 😎 👍❗️

My dumbass didn't even know there was a difference, I thought it was just the color lol thanks for the post. I find the TP's to be comfortable enough but I'm also used to braces
