My MXON experience....

Edited Date/Time 1/23/2012 10:18pm
Ok, started crappy...delayed flight from Newark, NJ to Cinc, OH....missed connection. Friday morning flight to Denver after too many beers near layover hotel in Cincinatti. Friday eve was good, met Rupert, MX45, Sports Med dude and some others for a beer drinking session at Yardhouse in the Colorado Mills Mall. Saturday was great, hung out with MTNDUC( thx for beer n good times Brian). Practice/qualifying was a blast and got to meet 500Guy and MMITOPTECH....also Jeff from Promotofan. Some others I have missed perhaps. Track was WAY TOO SMOOTH on Saturday, one lined and the top five pretty much went the whole race in the same position with the exception of Dungey....Saturday night was all pizza, beer n XBOX Reflex at my buddy Chris's house in Lakewood. Sunday was a blast, hot, dry, good beer, good chicks....GREAT racing , unfortunately for everyone else the US team was ON IT.Attendance was LOW...Budds was way way more packed but please keep in mind that the world economy has been in a hole the last 3 years. SIDE NOTE/PERSONAL OPINIONS....I was charged $25 for weekend parking yet had to park 3.25 miles away and take a bus to the event. I paid $90 each for two weekend tickets plus $50 each for pit passes. They didn't even scan them and I saw several people who had "copied" them....wtf...that's BS that I pay $140 each and other scum can just copy them, u charge the price scan the F'n ticket. Beer was reasonably priced, a 24oz Bud Lime was $10....not bad considering Yankee stadium beers are $11 for a 16oz. Smoked turkey legs were the BOMB.....they knew attendance was low, they moved parking up about 2 miles on Sunday. .....Budds , for me was a much better experience. Budds was absolutely packed to the gills. I think Thunder Valley had less people than the national did 2 years ago. Turbo

Good meeting you Dave.

I think attendance was more than any Lakewood National they just had people spread out better. but I was surprised more people were not there.

Oh, and wasn't the Budds camping like $50 or $75? Colorado charged like $140 or some crazy number. Turbo

Turbo it was cool meeting you on Friday at the bar. I only talked to you enough to shake your hand so I forgive you forgetting. Sorry I couldn't shoot the shit more but I was there with a bunch of old friends I haven't seen in years that live in Denver so I had to get back.

Question?
Looking at the TV coverage I couldn't make out if there was a fence all around racesite, especially on topside.
It looked like you could have just walked in by coming over the mountain behind? (would have been a major hike for the cheapskates!)
Was it fenced off????

From the track, if you try going up the hill it just gets way too steep.

$200, but we were there four nights, so it evened out.
I was happy it was on prairie grass and not dirt!

Even at the national I always see a handful of people hiking over the top of the mountain to watch. There was even an ez up set up between the fence and ridge of the mountain this year.

Dave, it was great to meet you up on the hill over a few beers with 500Guy. Well the racing experience great right? It was one of the best races that I have ever seen. Leaving the pits open all day was much better than the 12:00 cut-off.

The only thing that I saw that pissed me off was some total fat losers writing a bunch of BS in marker all over Steve Ramon's Suzuki. It was on the fence near the podium, which I guess in the minds of losers, is to write all over it. Class-less a-holes.

I paid $15 for parking both days included and it was about half a mile walk. Brought my own beer and food in, and my buddy got me in the pits for free. The $90 tickets was supposed to come with a free t-shirt, the ticket even said "free t-shirt" right on it, but when I got there at 10:30am on Sat, they said they were all out? These were pre-sale tickets and the turn out was low, how could they have run out Sat morn, sounds like a scam to me just like the free Pala t-shirt I never got. Other than that I had a blast! Great weather and great racing, track was great for viewing, I doubt the people at the top of the hill could see much if anything.

I heard after the race that a spectator was bitten by a rattle snake up there.
