has his hands full beating Ryan Dungey next season...the guy has it going on... unbeaten in championships since 2008, his confidence is sky high, he is smart and is mentally strong..great riding style...the total package.. not since RC has American produced such a complete mx/sx rider.

RD is the best American rider since RC imo...

James is is maybe still faster in raw speed when he is on the edge but that is not enough to beat Dungey for a 17 round SX and 12 rounds outdoor season.

RV can be as fast too be still has to get through s full SX and MX season on the 450.

add in Pourcel, Canard, Weimar, Reed, Grant and more it is going to be Stewarts toughest ever SX season.

I keep forgetting Jake Wiemer will be on a 450.
...and, yes, I agree about Bubba having a tough go in '11.

Dungey will be tough, but if James can get back to his 2009 level he will be fine. Dungey basically pulled a "Reed" most of the SX series. After his big get off early in the series I think that he realized that he didn't have to win every race he just needed to be consistent. It just happened to work because RV took himself out.

I say just be happy that there are a lot of guys out there that actually think that they can win the title.

It's amazing how quickly some of you seem to forget.
James will be ready to go come A-1.

quoted for truth. As much as a RD and RV fan as I am, nobody can touch Stewart when he is on his game.

I think there could be some good racing. If James 100% and keeps it on two wheels, we could see more runaways also.

When was the last time Stewart was really on his game? I don't think he was when he won his last title. The guy was riding in warp drive years ago. I just haven't seen the 259 in years.

i dont think anyone is fast enough to challenge bubba. if hes healthy, just like every other year, he will be the fastest man on this planet. also what about villopoto? dungey will have his hands full; this year was easy for him.

That's the thing. Stewart can be a little off his game and still win.

Dungey has improved in the last few years, but to think that he has bumped his game up to Stewards level is not realistic in my personal opinion.

That's the part I think you are forgetting Jim.
James has a tendency to crash out almost as much as he is on his game.
Plus who knows how much the wrist will come back....this could be an RJ kind of career changing thing.

I am definitely not saying that he isn't blazing fast but with a larger group of guys that can challenge him I just don't see there being many runaways.....of course I could be wrong.

I just want to see good racing so hopefully everyone stays healthy.

Guess I should have added, that Stewart seems to have been slowing down or everyone has caught up to him. I don't think he is focused anymore in being the fastest man on the planet. A1 last year, his settings wasn't right. How long did he have to test before A1 last year? More than anyone else since he didn't do the Nationals. I just feel that he doesn't have the desire anymore. I hope I'm wrong, cause 2011 is going to be the best season in years.

James owned Dungey at A1, taking things slowly until he reeled in 5 seconds and passed him at the very end. Smart move on James´ part. People will suck up to James as they always do come round 4.

this msg board after A1 will sound like this: "yeah! james, i always knew you could do it"

In my opinion Dungey should work on his "burst speed" during the off-season. He is amazingly fast and consistent, but it is his constistency that won him these championships, not blazing speed.
RC had both speed and consistency.

I understand what your saying, but even when he crashes out once in a while, he's going to win enough races to be in the points at the end.

As far as his wrist?
We will just have to wait and see, but this thread was more or less about how Dungey has stepped up his game, and will give Stewart all he wants.

I am a fan of all riders, but neither Stewart or Dungey are my favorites, and my opinion here is coming from what I believe to be logic, rather than what I would like to see as a Dungey fan.

I agree with you on that moto east. He should work on 10 lap sprints.

He's well conditioned, but it's almost too level through out the race.

I think they have made some mistakes in the past, not bringing someone in to help on bike set up. I don't think they will make that mistake again.

James hasn't left the gate in a long time. If he does some of the Australian SX races that will help him allot.

When James shows up he expects to win and will push to do so which is not always smart, I love that about him and it makes it exciting but not always smart.

RD's best chance IMO is to pressure James hard in the first 4 rounds of US SX and see if James will make a mistake.

If James makes it through the first 4 rounds healthy then IMO he will win the 2011 SX title.

James can get back to his 2009 level, but he will need more than that, the competition should be much fiercer in 2011....and if you think back to 09, he still berely edged out Reed for that title...

That is true, actually slipped my mind....but still, he came back did an excellent job, then if i remember clearly, made some more mistakes towards the end that allowed Reed to stay in the hunt....

I refuse to believe Ryan Dungey is the fastest rider in the world until he retains a championship.
