I know there’s a number of Michigan riders who have been following this thread for a number of years now and I thought that maybe some of you might be interested in a special event we have planned for October 28th. We’re calling it the “Michigan Mafia Motocross Reunion Banquet”.
It will be a sit-down banquet and it will be at Jeff Stanton's event facility in his hometown of Sherwood, MI. (www.theoldstonebarn.com). It was Drex Akin's idea and he got some other Team Dynamic folks (Mike Konners, Jeff Stanton, Rusty Hibbs and Steve Ellis) on board, and it's shaping up to be a real fun event and a chance to renew old friendships and make some new ones. It’s not just for Team Dynamic riders. Anybody Who had anything to do with, or any interest in, the Michigan motocross scene back in the 70’s or 80’s is welcome. Right now, we're planning to have most of the ground floor of the "Old Stone Barn" be a display of Rusty Hibbs’ outstanding vintage bikes and memorabilia, and the second floor will be set up banquet-style centered around a "Tonight Show" setup where we'll have various folks take turns as MC with various guests and bench-racing topics, with maybe a few old action movies from the old tracks back in the day up on the big screen TV. Tickets will be $30per adult and $15 per kids 12 & under. We aren't looking to restart Team Dynamic or make a profit on this event, -just cover our costs. Reservations will be required. Cut-off date to order tickets is October 15th. Go to www.DutchSportParkMX.com for more info.
This is the 1st time an event like this has been attempted and may be the only time. Don’t miss out. It should be a great time even without you, but even better WITH you. You don’t want to have to hear about how much of a good time you missed. See you all on Oct. 28.

I am real good friends with Lisa (Akin) Wagner’s son Brett, a couple years ago he started doing moto schools and called it Dynamic MX schools and used the design of the old team dynamic logo. I put his school on my bike and have got a few old timers do a double take haha. A few weeks ago I was down riding with Brett on Lisa’s old track behind Drex and Janes house and took this picture by Lisa’s old trailer.

He was running third at RedBud one year (Dono what year) and got a flat rear tire. Had to pull off.

I grew up in west branch town rt next to St. hellen ware the St. hellen national was at every fall. I grew up in a flat track and hair scramble family never trade my childhood for anything. Was always around the fast guys in flint and sworts creek where that mr parker and others are know of. Story I always hurd is it started with the older generation of flat trackers like Springsteen and company. Anyway dosen't matter who started it all that matters is it's real still and it's still rilly fast and doesn't look like the Michigan Mafia will stop producing some unbelievably talented motorcycle racers. Everyone missed one thing in your comments... not one mention about how us Michigan Mafia tend to ware red gloves.... bbbbrrrrrrraaaaaaapppppp everyone

that was a fun track for sure.

One of my favorite memories is Bob Darden stopping the 125 C class after one lap down in the flat and scolding them for running over his starting gate lol.

Bob passed away probably 10 years ago, and his wife Jan a couple years later. I see his daughter now and then since she's married to a bud of mine.

GREAT memories at Iron Mustangs. I refused to go to movies at that MJR theater. Only once went and it was the John Penton Story LOL.

figured I would resurrect this thread to say that (to those that didn't know) there is going to be a Parade Lap for Drex Akin this weekend at the Red Bud National. Drex was the last to oversee Dynamic Racing, was a fixture in Michiana Motocross since it's inception & (along with his wife Jane) helmed Dutch Sport Park for almost 4 decades.

Unfortunately, we lost him this past February & this will be the first Red Bud National without him working in some capacity. So, that being said - if you are coming out to Red Bud this weekend & have your bikes, it's definitely a cool situation to be apart of - & you get to honor an absolute Legend in the process.

The Akin's took over Dutch sport park in 1995 after the club I was in ran races there in 92,93 maybe even 94 after John Koldenhoeff who started dutch quit putting on races in 89, so this is the Akins  31st year running it.

I have gone to Redbud Pro national starting in 1985 even flagged the national 1992 thru 1995, never missed a year for 20 straight then since 2005 about every other year and will be there saturday - should be good hope sexton is back for it!!
