Long-time NorCal racer (#111) and well-known track announcer Gary Plaatje passed in his sleep yesterday. He'd been a fixture behind the mic at races all over California for many years, and was one of the best at his craft. I'm sure many here have met and heard Gary onver the years.
Gone far too soon, RIP my friend.
Damn, sorry to hear, met Gary at the 2021 NorCal MX Reunion and immediately took a liking to him, my condolenses to family and friends
He was a good guy, and for a few years lived just down the road from me in Los Gatos. Always appreciated seeing his moto van parked in the driveway. I wish - and meant to - look him up at Hangtown this year. Dang. RIP 111..
Just about any series in NorCal will never be the same.
Going to miss his energy on the mic and talking trash about sand baggers
Really devastating news. Such a great guy that made Nor Cal moto special.

Total legend on the mic, and great racer back in the day! RIP brother Gary, you'll be sorely missed 🙏
RIP buddy Norcal will miss you.. Used to race 500's with gary back in the 90s at club moto series, we were good buddies.. He was wild man
Ride on Gary, you will be missed my friend.
I don't race moto a ton so I usually didn't see him more than a few times per year, but somehow he always remembered me and asked about what I was working on currently if we had a chance to talk. Seemed like a great guy and his ability to remember so many people and their stories was really something special, not to mention he was always kind to me or anyone else I saw him interact with. RIP Gary.
Very sad news. Super nice guy.
Sorry to hear this.
RIP
GPMX was good people. This sucks.
