What does Obama have to do with it?

None of those laws are even enacted yet.
None of the Obama HC plan has even started

Blame your insurer for fucking you over, causing the Obama HC Plan

Yes, this is true...however, upon doing my home-work: Why are the Insurers goin' Straight-Up STUPID on Pricing, Right Now?

Btw, I'm shopping/Changing Insurers; so, I'm getting some good feed-back from folks in that Industry.

They're recovering as MUCH as they can BEFORE it all kicks in.

Fuck'em.

I know you Umericans will probably hang me from the yard-arm while dumping my tea in the harbour - but all my working life I have paid the British Gov. £38 or so a quarter for my health care + 4% of my year end profits (because I am self employed). But I can go to any hospital and get all the post endo care I want for free at source.
I aint no Michael Moore but somehow this makes me feel better. Its a bit like the BBC but with bandages - we complain about it but god do we feel lucky we've got it.

it's all about insuring the poor people with money from people that have money

That whole industry has gone around the bend. Over the last 8 years, my insurance costs have doubled, and that's with me paying a $1000 deductible when I used to have none.

We have some of the best doctors and health care professionals in the world with a totally disfunctional administration apparatus. The only thing Obamacare did wrong was it didn't just socialize the whole damn industry. Americans would be paying half as much for better care than they get now.

People can say what they want, but we're paying twice as much as the rest of the world for the 35th best health care statistics. We're paying 1.5 trillion dollars too much every year. The next time somebody wants to brag about the wonders of free enterprise, point at that and Wall Street.

Ok Im bad at math (really bad) but it looks like TGs rates rose 18% between 06 and 07, 27% between 07 and 08, 14% between 08 and 09, 7% between 09 and 10 and, 23% from 10 to 11'

From 06 to 11' his rates rose 125% (in 5 years) anyone care to look into the future?

Very true. Letting the wolf guard the henshouse doesnt work very good.

We are being fleeced and we need MAJOR reform very, very bad. My wife had a MRI and dye scan thing yesterday, only an hours worth of time was almost 3 grand.

Good marketing back in the 60s and 70s for the insurance industry, then they demonized the Docs for making too much. So they now look out for your best interest. You clowns that think the insurance industry give 2 shits about you have your head in the sand.

I had a pretty bad hike from '07 and '08...but...

This is the 1st $200 hike & it's, coincidentally(?), on the heels of this wondeful new legislation...which, btw, does VERY LITTLE for the middle-class...other than subsidize a lot of folks that aren't gonna pay for their own health-care, anyways.

So, other than that...

What does this Bill do for the Majority if us, that have insurance, other than fuck us over harder? (As in You and Me)

I'm jus' askin'...

That's a lie.

In the 1st year (as in now):

1. Children cannot be denied coverage for pre-exiting conditions
2. There are no more lifetime coverage limits
3. Wellness and prevention plans have no deductable and no cost sharing

All on the insurance companies and none of that is free.

Also I saw mention of a temporary plan for people with pre-existing condions until some other parts of the law take effect...I cannot find a lot of detail on that and I don't know who is paying for it.

It's simply the cost of doing business. The more benefits a Plan offers the more expensive it is. The problem with ObamaCare is that there is no regulation on controlling costs. In addition, the creation of sub par lower class jobs to compete with cheap Chinese and oversees labor isn't going to really help anyone in supporting the new health care model. The middle class must be willing to share in the substantial increases of health care. How Corporate America decides it's method to pass on their costs to the general public will be interesting to see. To keep profits healthy, the middle class needs to take on this liability for for the good of our economy. You wanted a global economy, you got one.

Starting September 23 (next week)

September 17, 2010 — Healthcare reform, officially called the Affordable Care Act, was signed into law by President Obama last March. But this September 23, it picks up steam. Six major provisions will be enacted to set reform on its way.

Here's a quick look at the provisions:

1. Extending Coverage for Young Adults: Young adults can stay on a parent's plan until they turn 26. This doesn't apply to young adults who already have health insurance through a job.
2. Providing Free Preventive Care: New plans must offer free preventive services, such as mammograms and colonoscopies. This means they cannot charge you a deductible, co-pay, or coinsurance. (Note: This only includes new plans, not those already in effect when the healthcare reform law passed.)
3. Banning Insurance Companies from Rescinding Coverage: When someone with health insurance got sick, insurance companies would sometimes search for an error or other mistake on that person's application to deny coverage. That practice will no longer be legal. (Note: For most people, this will take effect in January 2011, at the beginning of a health plan's new year.)
4. Appealing Insurance Company Decisions: Consumers will have two ways to appeal coverage decisions or claims: through their insurer or through an independent decision-maker. (Note: This only includes new plans, not those already in effect when the healthcare reform law passed.)
5. Eliminating Lifetime Limits on Insurance Coverage: Insurance companies can't set lifetime limits on key benefits, such as hospital stays. (Note: This only includes new plans, not those already in effect when the healthcare reform law passed.)
6. Regulating Annual Limits on Insurance Coverage: The law will restrict insurance companies' ability to set annual dollar limits on coverage for individual and group plans.

The insurance companies already have increased costs right there, and this is just the second wave of provisions to go into effect.

You put the insurance companies on the hook for greater liability, they are going to charge more. Period.

Blue Cross in California proposed a 35% increase last year before HC reform and withdrew that when the public and the Cali state government went ballistic. They have no interest at all in being reasonable - their only interest is making a buck today. And the funny thing is, most Republicans think that's just fine, that they should just keep fleecing the public. Anything that makes a profit is perfectly fine by definition.

Actually as a percentage your worst year was 2008 with a 26.7% increase

This year is only being raised by 22.8%

The dollar figure is a bigger jump for sure, but as a percentage of cost it's not as bad as it's been in the past.

I gotta stop you on part of this. The US is FAR from having the best docs in the world. There's a reason I am sitting in a motel room in germany RIGHT now to have work done on my back, instead of being at a US hospital. And it has nothing to do with cost.

As for rates and being Fucked, yes I agree. I went a few years without insurance. It was basically out of reach for me. BCBS of Cali offered me a plan, it was going to cost me, just me, over 20k a year before they covered ANYTHING! So I went a few years without insurance, I've had a plan for 3 years now. It started at $90 a month, this July my policy renewed and is now at $270 a month. I haven't even meet my deductible yet any year. I've had about $500 worth of doctors visits and blood work done in 3 years, thats it.

I probably should have said we've "traditionally" had the best docs - that's debatable nowadays. I remember lots of French riders in the US getting hurt and getting straight on a plane and going to France to doctors they trust. It's hard to quantify those things, but I think there's reason to believe that our health care issue isn't doctors or health care professionals, it's administrative and corporate problems.

That would be fine and all but Obama fucked us by putting a tax on individuals that don't have health insurance. I don't think it has started yet, but it is coming in one of the years on the health care rollout.

No, it's not a tax for not having insurance, what it is is you're not eligible for a specific HC-related tax credit if you don't have insurance.

So, if you chose to not carry insurance, nothing changes

If you do have insurance, you get a tax credit for doing so

So you don't have to have HC insurance and if you don't, nothing changes

That is what the fear-makers tried to scare people into thinking there was some "fine" for not having insurance and that isn't the case at all

You mean the premium increases that have been skyrocketing over the last half decade, as evidenced by TeamGreen's initial post.....by 20%+ annually?

and how was that Obama's fault back in 2006?
