The problem is Red bull only wanted to continue it, on the grounds that its was "Fresh and new" each year. and from what i remember they couldnt "out-do'' themselves after holding it at the beach venue.
Redbull keeps doing other events like the Flugtag and soap box racing, so it probably didnt garner the attention they hoped for to justify setting it up each year.
our sport is pretty Niche in the grand scheme and its well insulated from the rest of the world. The only stuff the general public sees is FMX so getting a bunch of random people excited for a moto race is difficult on a good day.
They need to have it in Nashville. Have AP there. Right in downtown. That would be so sick.

Thats not true. We realize there is only some innovation year over year and we were we good with that.
The biggest issue was FELD adding SMX, that really killed the momentum of anything outside of the normal sport. On top of that the event really only worked with 250's and 125 ( 300's and 150's ) when it was 4-strokes it wasnt as fun in my eyes. Those bikes are far too powerful and never rewarded precision and hitting your marks run after run plus it just would become extremely dangerous. The last thing we wanted was guys scared to particiapate because someone was going 4-4-4 ... It was always supposed to be about fun.
Maybe one day we will bring it back.. however we have other ideas, maybe even better than RBSR.

How would that work if RBSR no longer fits the off-season schedule because of SMX? Would any of those ideas only work if SMX goes away?

How is that possible when SX//MX is on live TV every Saturday? When was the last time anyone saw freestyle on TV, much less live?
It’s a shame, RBSR was my favourite offseason event of the year, some epic battles over the years! Stew vs Dunge, Travis vs Hanny! Kenny and Barcia.

Straight Rhythm. Monster Cup was just a Supercross race with no whoops and a gimmick.
Straight rhythm was fun don’t get me wrong but three extra “real” races with all the guys there is better in my opinion.

I agree... but after 24 or 25 events ... do we really need 6 or 7 races more? Our sport is super unique where our bikes and athletes can do variations of our core sport. F1, Moto GP, Nascar, Indy can not. I think leaning into the unique nature of our sport and having some unique off season moments breaks up the monotony of 17 SX's 11 Motocross races and 3 where its a combo of both. Keep it fresh for our athletes and consumers.. we probably have a few too many of each of the series at this point. Dont get me wrong, I watch it all but by the end everyone is pretty well burned out and ready for something new.
I think it would be a great way to get the retired riders to come out once a year. Maybe have 3 classes, <30, <40, <50 and heck, maybe Ward and Johnson and the 80’s group of guys would come out. <60.
count me in. Where they gonna hold this?
