Something I noticed over the past few years, Jo Shimoda is seemingly the only rider that is never afraid to battle with Deegan (see the examples in the video). In fact, to my memory, he's one of the very few to pass him straight up (LA 2023 SMX). Seems like he has some speed outdoors this year considering he was the only one who could somewhat keep up or put a wheel on Haiden in Pala.
If he gets his fitness up, maybe we see some more battles this year...
I don’t think Jo will have much for DNGR over the course of a season.
It's actually funny. He's not only the only one that is aggressive with Deegan but Deegan is the only guy he does this to. Not sure why he does that. But I like it
I dont think any one guy will have much for the Deegz. One race might be Chance, one race might be Jo, ome race another race. Haiden will drop motos here and there. But keep piling up points and win about 15 motos, at least
It’s gonna take more than a few corners or laps running it in on Danger to rattle him . Right now outdoors, he has an extra gear that the rest just don’t have, he’s stronger and in better shape than the entire field. Mental Game is on point as well.

In my recent memory, Shimoda is the only one not afraid to give Deegan a push in the 250s. As he should. Beaumer got pushed around 2/3 times during SX, talked about revenge but that didn't happen (so far). If you're a rider of that calibre, you shouldn't be pushed around like that.
I cannot recall past 250 champions like Anderson (battles with Seely 2014), Webb (with Tyler Bowers 2015) or Tomac (with Wilson 2012), Barcia (with Wilson 2011) being pushed around by their competition.
I'm always for racing forward and being clean. But you can only be pushed around so many times before you have to give a message. Just my opinion

In my opinion Jo needs to start believing in himself. He was there the whole time in moto 2. Then you listen to his interviews and it feels like he doesn’t think he can run with Deegs. If he could unlock some confidence, I think we would have a battle to witness.
I agree with you mostly because we know he has the speed. But I also think part of it is his cultural background. I think his more self reflecting behaviour is more easily interpreted as lack of confidence by our western culture especially American.
Jo was afraid to pass Deegan at Pala. He had chance after chance to run it up the inside but chickened out each time and deliberately went the long way to try and get around him.
