According to a couple of key industry insiders and Vital members I have to wonder what is KTM thinking hiring RD?
You all know we have one of the GxproOAT that post really important incites that us non-x-pros could never fathom...then we have the greatest man-friend, x-pro wrench, turned National-moto-Enquirer have declared that RD is mediocre at his job.
With this kind of incite, I have to wonder why on earth KTM would hire the guy.
Is KTM making a huge mistake?

This is just redonkulous.
If you take the view that his more recent success at Suzuki was mainly due to the quality of the riders rather than whatever Roger brings, then all takes is for KTM to hire a couple of top 5 riders and that problem will be solved.
If you take the view that Roger mainly brings unmatched technical and set up knowledge, then maybe that's what KTM were looking for. After all, they've suffered for a long time in the US on the perception that their bikes weren't as good for MX/SX as the Japanese bikes, and next year they'll be campaigning a relatively new machine.
Any way you cut it, I think it's stil a good move.
I wouldn't worry too much about whether RD is great at the happy-horseshit back-slapping stuff. That's never been his style, right back to running Honda and bringing rivals together to create an edge on the team. So, look at the record, and how it's worked when he has been able to retain focused talent (which he's been as good as anyone at) and create a no-nonsense environment for them to perform.
It's just a different style. I think only KTM gets to decide whether it's a mistake in the sense of whether that style is consistent with the way they want to pursue their goals.
Pit Row
I'd like to see the resume of these insightful ones.
Adj. 1. insightful - exhibiting insight or clear and deep perception; "an insightful parent"; "the chapter is insightful and suggestive of new perspectives"-R.C.Angell
perceptive - having the ability to perceive or understand; keen in discernment; "a perceptive eye"; "a perceptive observation"
Dungey: wins 2 titles in his first big bike year+in and outdoor titles in the 250 class, coming from B class.
Mike Alessi: biggest threat to JS7 outdoors when on Suzuki.
Reed: one year on Suzuki, first outdoor title.
Stroupe: first time he was a title contender was on Suzuki.
Byrne: after injuries, still a top 3 guy outdoor while on Suzuki.
RC: NFM.
Must be a bad manager.
If MA800 is a contender next year, you will all be on his balls. Must be, because when a person does good, there's never anything about it on here.
Results go in the record books for all time...has Roger ever made the record books ?
What a concept.
