It sure looked to me when Reedy traveled all the way to Cairoli's home country and battled with him the whole 35 min of a moto he could go as fast as him. I think Reedy just really didn't gel w/that Kawi and wasn't himself all year. If Reedy gets on a bike he likes he can run w/anyone.

Tony and a agreement does not mean shit. The dude still has the ability to fuck everything up.

I think some of you who are giddy about how KTM is stepping up might do well to tap the brakes for just a second and ponder the bigger implication of what it means for the sport in general if the big four are starting to back away....

He didn't sound too enthusiastic on Reed joining KTM under him, but admitted he would be good in supercross.

Hmmm.

Door #1 - "Pick it up a notch (actually, just maintain the status quo)"
Door #2 - "Pick up toys and go home"

They're picking door 2. Anyone that thinks that is a good thing is delusional. Moreover, I wouldn't interpret KTM's benefit from this to be a result of KTM's "picking it up a notch". They are the beneficiaries of the other guys deciding not to play anymore. Fact is, KTM and everyone in this sport needs all of the OEMs playing. Otherwise the future looks very bleak indeed. And all KTM gate would be pretty boring.

Mike has for the most part split from Tony. Tony just takes care of the track stuff around the house.

Roger has definately had a good couple of years but it wasnt always the case. Aside from Albie in 99 Suz really was not doing much. Then 199 came up and huge giagantic monsterative things were destined to happen for Roger and Suzuki and we saw how that turned out after the 1st year. Then it took until RC came aboard. The thing that shows RD's heart is how he never gave up, never gave in, he always gave his best effort and had his team handling themselves in a professional manner. Remember, RC4s and RD5s dont exactly grow on tree's.

This is a challenge in so many different and good ways for Roger and for KTM, i couldn't be more excited for the team and for Roger.......i see the partnership as only a good thing for both of them....To say that he is "used to winning", is not quite so true, he had a lot of years at Suzuki and some tough years at that, he was a manager at Suzuki when even Suzuki Japan didn't really support racing in the US half as much as they did in Carmichael's days and he pulled through and brought them to the top...

KTM clearly is one of the most dedicated manufacturers in racing today, even more so with their hiring of Everts and now Roger, their bikes are good and only getting better.

Racing is so tough that no one could truly predict whether or not any team will have success in any given year, having said that, i would not go so far as you have to imply that KTM won't win races.....as i said, no one knows if they will or the other teams will, but KTM stands just as good a chance (especially outdoors) as anyone else in the years to come, and thats just my opinion.

The real question is can the sport survive, and move forward without the big 4 and factory support??

I don't think Roger has another 10 years in him to get KTM on top of the box. My guess is he does 2 years and is over it.

ye Cygnus, i agree that he will probably only be working for another 3 years, sounds like thats all he wants after listening to the DMXS podcast...

But don't under estimate KTM, i think if we don't see a championship , we will at least see them in the hunt and making leaps forward from where they used to be....instead of the occasional podium i think we are going to see the occasional win..and then hopefully they can go upwards from there

Funny. You just rattled off about 8 out of the last dozen years or so. Name another team that's had that much success.

AND...the non-KTM rider, Desalle, is continuously handed his ass on a platter by guys on orange bikes. Interestingly, Nagl was reported to be on the newest FI KTM 450 this weekend, and Tony still prevailed.
