Most of us have made the mistake of buying an Austrian brand. I don’t even know where to buy a TM. I’m not interested in sherco. Beta is a great option I had been seriously considering while waiting for Kawi to make an announcement.

I've owned several Austrian bikes since 2011, mostly 2 strokes and don't regret purchasing a single one of them. All were rock solid and super reliable. Just bought a new '25 TX-300 a month ago, so jury's still out on it. Have no reason to believe it will be any different. I owned a 2018 YZ-250X for a few years. Great bike as well, but for the type of riding I do, it fell way short of the Austrian bikes.

They may have already released something. The dog was sort of a 2-stroke thing right. Hydrogen motors are technically a 350 2-stroke if you really look at it.

Cuz Musk has electric and the hydrogen isn’t Stark   varge.  Gov trying to make semis go hydrogen can’t wait for the fires.  Then have to consider hydrogen too strk won’t have double boots port.

They’re perfectly fine for guys who are doing hard enduro or trail riding (great actually) but it’s discouraging having to spend $10-$12k on a bike then another $1500 in accessories and another $3k in suspension to make it decent for racing. Anyone who says the suspension isn’t a massive and expensive drawback is either lying or trail rides/rides hard enduro. I’ve said it many times around here, but there’s a reason why every suspension tuner offers a “fix” or KYB “conversions” for WP forks. No one offers WP conversion kits for KYB or Showa forks, and there’s a reason for that. Run the KYB stock and you’ll be very happy. Get them revalved and you’ll be on cloud 9 after riding a KTM.

The Austrian off road motorcycles are fantastic machines.  Like to add, without them the 2 stroke would have been dead years ago.

Depends what kind of riding you’re doing. At minimum spend some serious coin on the suspension.

WP makes Cone Valve forks and Trax shocks for the Japanese bikes. I know 3 people with them on their RMZ450’s and they work awesome.

News flash, Japanese suspension sucks out of the box too. The rest of the Austrian bikes are on another planet in the offroad market.

Have you ridden the new forks?

What exactly is so bad about them?

The only complaints I’ve heard is maybe a little stiff but that was for trail riders, most the actual racers I know that have even a remote level of speed like the new suspension.

No argument here, I simply posted that WP makes components that replace KYB and Showa components. There’s a reason they do this too.
There are plenty of high level riders that ride with AER forks and stock shock on their Austrian brand bikes and have no issues.
When people on forums and social media exercise their opinions about things and the bandwagon jumpers pike on without any knowledge, there’s plenty of misinformation.

The stock suspension on the new bikes isn’t half as bad as some say…. I prefer CV / Trax myself, but I can afford it and like the feel of a spring fork better. That doesn’t mean that I couldn’t enjoy riding my bikes with revalved stock suspension.

Cone valves aren’t components to “fix” KYB or Showa forks. They’re a completely separate fork. I’m not saying you can’t be fast on WP suspension. I’m Vet A level (off-road) and can still move along pretty good. I’ve had Austrian bikes since 2014 because they are great bikes but at the same time I’ve also been battling the suspension woes with them. The only real fix is to convert them to KYB or go full cone valve. Both of which are pretty expensive. My whole point was, you can spend $12k on a new KTM then spend another $3k+ just to have “decent” suspension. Or spend $5k+ to have good suspension.

Or just get any other brand motorcycle and be done with it. It’s the only manufacturer who produces high level dirt bikes with subpar to bad suspension.

The New WP Spring fork is fine. The TBI engine is terrible though.

I bought a 2019 350 SXF with many hours just to see if I liked a 350. It had the KYB insert forks on it already and I sent them to ENZO to adjust for my weight and speed. They were good forks of course. I liked the 350 and then found a 22 with 5 hours and bought it for an upgrade. I was going to sell the 19 and found a used set of stock AER forks to install on it while I ran the KYB insert forks on the 22. I had never ridden the stock 22 forks but thought I needed to try them and never took them back off. Those stock 22 forks worked better than the KYB insert forks for ME that I had revalved again by Factory Connection after ENZO. Everyone is different and others may not have the same opinion of course and the 2017 AER forks on my 450SXF were nowhere near as good as those 22 forks for what it's worth.

The ‘23 and newer XC bikes come with a Spring Fork that most folks like so that’s why I’m curious if agn5008 has tried those or if he’s just shitting on them for the air forks still.

He has not im sure.  Same as the people crying about tbi.  These things absolutely rip.

Go listen to the podcast with keefer talk about the 250 sx.  Jamie at twisted acknowledged that the dyno on yz vs sx wasn't close.  That's not to say that the yz and a carb is inferior but the notion the tbi bikes are slow is the same as buying a ktm and putting 3k in forks because it sucks so bad.

Have you ridden the new forks?  What is so bad about them?

I'm also curious what is subpar about the shock?

I have ridden a 2024 Husky TE 300. I haven’t been on any 25 model bike yet and that includes the Japanese brands. The 24 Husky was definitely better but it’s still not on the same level as the KYB. I feel like the KTM forks are too fidgety. You can mess with the clickers and get them good for certain terrain but then they’re awful once you hit other types of terrain. Simply put, I feel like with the KYB or Showa you can “set it and forget it” and it’s really good everywhere. With the newer WP you’re constantly chasing a solid set up for different terrain. Racing HS in the east coast you tend to go through a lot of different elements and terrain. I don’t think I’m overly picky when it comes to suspension set up, I just prefer something that does everything well rather than something that you have to constantly mess with to be comfortable.

The shock was fine, I didn’t have any major concerns with that I guess. My issue has always been with the WP forks more so than their shock though.

Depends what kind of riding you’re doing. At minimum spend some serious coin on the suspension.

The only complaints I’ve heard is maybe a little stiff but that was for trail riders, most the actual racers I know that have even a remote level of speed like the new suspension.
