In 2012 we had:
Tomac
Roczen
Baggett
Musquin
Barcia
It came down to the very last race at lake Elsinore.
------------------
In 2025 We have:
Deegan
Vialle
Hampshire
Kitchen
Davies
Masterpoole
Hymas
Shimoda
Swoll
Each of these riders won a moto last year. This year will be a barnburner; hopefully it goes down to the last race!
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Hampshire going 450 outdoors?
Swoll is still out with his Achilles injury & Harrup is brought over for a fill in
Either way, the 250 class is stacked this year! Bring it on!
Never call it Lites again. That was the dumbest name choice in MX history.
So, what exactly is a "lites".
2012 was absolutely insane. I still watch back races from that season today.
The field is similar on paper but until I see someone actually fight Deegan and not just roll over for him I'm assuming he runs away with this thing. My money would have been on Kitchen to be that guy but will have to see if he's back at 100% at Rd 1. Can't race yourself back into shape and start winning when #38 has a 40 point lead

theres more. i mean, idk if these are going 450 but: juju, trasher, forkner, anstie, hammaker, schok, mayyyybe mcadoo?
i didnt even watched 450SX after we lost eli, lawrences, jason... cooper vs sexton is just meh imo
If you didn’t watch 450 sx this year you missed out. It was a great year.
Idk, I was ok with lites. The “motocross class” was the real dumb one. Lites was ok.
Being triggered over it being called "lites" is wild. It's not that deep.
I have a hard time thinking this won’t be a runaway season by Deegs, but I also thought that about supercross and it was closer than I assumed
what’s a “lites” 🙄
on paper by name value it has the making of a all time classic but when actually watch the racing u would kno deegs is just head & shoulders above errybody , im interested to see how chance really take tht next setp outdoors this yr & go tit for tat with deegs. Also wassup with RJ 🤔 I kno hes 450 outdoors but JT & errybody else lending towards him bowing out for surgery on tht wrist but recently he got vids on his story at bakers putting in motos on a 450 , is he racing or hes getting the wrist fixed 🤔
2012 was arguably the best 125/250 season ever. I don’t see 25 shaping up this way. Deegan most likely runs away with this.
Be interesting to see how Hymas does this season- Vialle will be there. But expect Deegan makes easy work of the 250 class...
Haiden is going to smash everyone
Forgot about Beaumer. Plus Ryder D. is due for a win or two. Maybe Cochran as well.
Is Thrasher good outdoors?
Is Savatgy in the 250's this year?
For top end talent, 2012 at this stage is stronger, perhaps because we know the result of these riders.
Deegan
Davis
Vialle.
Being the top end at this stage.
RJ was supposed to ride 450s this summer but he will be getting his wrist fixed instead as he has been dealing with pain all season and not riding at 100%. He’s scheduled to go 450 in SX 2026.
RJ was going to be 450 this summer. Bummed we dont get to see it. Knowing RJ, there could have been some wild rides lol
Pit Row
Davies didn’t race outdoors last year, might want to remove the each of these riders won a moto last year.
Yes and the "Motocross" class should be exciting too....
Here are the questions I'm asking myself, assuming Deegan will be the biggest title threat:
-Can Vialle perform better than in 2024, now that he has more familiarity with the tracks?
-Can Davies perform as well outdoors as he did indoors?
-Will Kitchen rebound from injury and be his old self?
Those are the three I feel are the most likely to put a dent in Deegan's title defense.
I think I'm more looking forward to the heavies class.
I was high on vialle as well.... but this is his third go round, not second. Last year i expected more from a two time world champ.
Calling the 250s a "Lites" class always seemed to cheapen or downgrade the class to me. Almost like they weren't pros. Like these guys are just learning to ride or something. It was a bad/stupid idea from the jump.
I would add Hymas to that list, Davis is a wildcard.
Don't sleep on Kitchen!
Bro, when I saw the title I was like STOP already. It's funny how some of the pros still let that slip out.
Haarup is definitely better on a motocross track than Swoll IMO. That is an upgrade for Triumph if he gels with the tracks, different format, weather, etc.
What is crazy to me is that 2012 was 13 years ago, and 3 of 5 people on that list are still racing (and still top contenders).
Yaa it was, too bad DeanO was hurt and unable to defend, although I think Baggett still would’ve took it that year.
