I believe I read recently that David Bailey had said something about how all the greatest racers brought some new skill to MX. I wanted to try to compile the list of the greatest riders and what they brought. I'm sure it's harder for some than for others to identify what unique skill they had (other than going super fast) but this might be kinda fun / interesting.

RC: determination?

MC: quick starts / sprints right after the gate drops; nac-nac (hehe)

I think MC's jumping skills moved the sport forward

Hannah- determination ( he gave RC the blueprint)

Glover- a savvy mechanic (albeit a poor speller) and a loyal teamate

OMara- training

RJ- showmanship

Reed- consistency

Langston- either luck or being ready to walk thru when opportunity knocks

And talk about oldschool whips,Tony Wynn man,absolutely THE best style back in the day! That guy would fling the Honda CR250 Elsinores like Magoo used to...a real treat.

Jeff Ward was . . . and still is, a bad ass man. I remember reading back in the 80s that he could squat like 500lbs or something like that! He was tough as nails.

It's really hard to remember every guy and what they brought.

What about Bradshaw? Nobody mentioned him. He had that Hannah-esque "I hate everyone" mentality for sure. I'll never forget seeing him holeshot a SX from the outside by railing this WALL of dirt (wasn't meant to be a berm) in the first turn. I only saw it on TV though, because I'm not core.
