I'm sorry guys, but I'm never even going to try sushi. I hate seafood, most asian foods, and the idea of eating it raw makes my skin crawl.

I almost believe that nobody out there likes sushi either; it's just one big conspiracy to get me to try it so they can get it on film and laugh, like Ashton Kutcher's Punk'd. All my friends, independent businesses, the whole island of Japan have gone in together on the scam. It's a hundred-million dollar business worldwide, all designed to make Falcon eat raw fish. Haha! Gotcha! Well, the joke's on you. I'm never going to put that shiz in my mouth.

OK, who the fuck told Falcon about our conspiracy? You were all sworn to secrecy! Whatever. Not cool guys.

I’m in the ‘no raw/whole tomato’ club. I love things with cooked tomatoes in them, though, and salsa is something that I can eat with every meal. It’s just mostly a consistency thing for me.

Other ‘no go’ foods:

Sauerkraut.

Green peppers on pizza or in salad (but I love them for kebabs or stuffed).

Olive loaf.

Head cheese.

Swiss cheese.

Most cornbread (everyone said my mom’s was fantastic but I never liked any cornbread back then).

Most Thai or Indian food.

Macaroni or potato salad made with Miracle Whip.

Honey mustard.

Sweet pickles/relish.

Any ketchup/catsup that isn’t Heinz!!!!!

I can't think of anything I don't like and if it's edible I will eat it anyway if i am hungry, why not. I'm not sure i ever had Sauerkraut. It took some time to get used to sushi because at first it tasted like my cast net every morning at 5 am with left over rotting fish in it but I liked the energy it gave so I kept at it and now love it and eat it regularly. I have always eaten all the oysters and have a gift card right now to the oyster house and can't wait for 99c oyster day.  As a 3rd gen charter boat captain ive had so many types of fish but fried whole catfish is my favorite and got it as my birthday meal growing up and still make it often, snapper is my favorite saltwater fish to eat. Dad used to drop me off at Lockhart Stadium at moto practice and walk over to Dirty Harry's raw bar and bring me a huge order of calamari. I will eat Tomatoes and onions like apples.

I have a few friends that don't eat anything white. Its odd. They won't touch mayo, cream cheese, ranch, cottage cheese, blue cheese, sour cream... i don't understand it. I think it's possibly related to a childhood trauma.  I will drink all of those through a straw if that was a thing.

Finally, an adult in the group!! lol   I was raised to eat what was offered to me and to never complain about a meal that was prepared for me.

Of course, there are a few foods that I would rather not eat but if that's all I have or if someone prepared it for me, I'm going to eat it.

Fate has now decided that you will be stranded on a deserted island with nothing but fish to eat and NO fire.  You did this to yourself.🙃

Yep.  They put the plate in front of me and said, " eat all you can...I don't know when the next ones coming".

I'm with the liver folk, ugh.  When I was a kid, I never liked tomatoes, but would eat salsa, tomato soup, ketchup, and cooked tomatoes.  As I have gotten older, I love home grown tomatoes ripe from the vine with some salt and pepper.  Still despise store bought.  The only thing I have tried and will not ever try again is durian.  Smells sooo bad that I can't get past it.  My Cambodian friend that got me to try durian, says that he hates cheese (all cheese), says it's the texture.

It's so potent that the fruit has been banned from hotels and public transit systems in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong. It's been the subject of countless disparaging remarks and comparisons, but the truth is more complicated than that. Research has revealed that durian contains aromatic compounds linked to sulfur, rotten onions, cabbage, and natural gas leaks — but it also contains exceptionally high concentrations of fruity compounds, which can be appealing. Unfortunately, the negative aspects of durian's smell have so overshadowed its reputation that most people haven't even bothered to find out what it tastes like..."

Durian is certainly weird.

Those that haven't smelt it, really can't fathom the smell it gives out

When I first started to go to Asia for work, I'd catch whiffs of it at markets, not knowing WTF it was.

Years later, with going to Singapore for a mates wedding, I got an education in it.

Turns out there's quite a variety of types of Durian, and, my mates Local wife, went out and got 'the Good type'.

That type, what ever it was, had buggerall odor, and, tasted quite nice. But, without her to sort it, I'd Not try Any of them. There lies potential Taste Bud Death! She also forced me to have a bite of The Hard Stuff - never, Ever, again!

Mates sister in law sends me pics / vids of her little daughter hoeing into Durian with glee, saying "it's Durian Uncle Bear, It's Lovely", quite often,  to stir me up a bit.

You see all the "No Durian" signs all over the place in Singapore - it's a crack up.

We've an Asian specialties Market nearby - I get Durian Lollies every now and then - they don't smell (well, they do, but Nothing like the Real Thing), and,  they  are pretty mild. But, basically, I buy them to limit my Candy intake, being Diabetic. That - limiting the Candy, by having only Durian lollies on hand ( for Hypos - anything else I carry for that, will get eaten and cause a Hyper) , works a treat.

It baffles me how something can smell that bad yet taste so good.

Totally forgot about cornbread. I can't stand it in any setting, which goes against my very strong southern roots. My Grandma could never understand my disgust with it. lol

Never understood cranberry sauce at thanksgiving. Seemed like a scheme by big cranberry to unload overstock one year and it stuck. Serves no purpose whatsoever.

I’m with you on that and I have Southern roots as well. Also (and I may get flamed for this) fuck grits and everything about them. I do love me some Waffle House scattered smothered and covered sometimes 😉

My mother is south Texas German so I grew up eating sauerkraut.

My only issue with it was when I was a kid, and Mom was making it from scratch, the whole house smelled like busted ass.

It was embarrassing to bring friends over trying to explain the odor. They couldn't believe that I would be enjoying what ever the fuck it was later.

Dad would always put sauerkraut on my brat when I was young, he would tell me your not German if you don't eat kraut. I was always confused because I'm American. Lol  As I got older I realized my family came from Germany.

Another thing I've tried while in Sweden, was Surstr'o'mming. I've forgotten how to do the umlauts over the O.

Fermented / Salted Herring, that smells dreadfully, and, I'm sorry to the Swedes here, it damned well pretty much tastes as bad as it smells.

I forget what it's called, but there's another Fishy thing I've had in Norway. Basically, rotten Whale meat , that's just bloody fearful.

In my normal life, I'm the most boring eater there is, but I do try things when I'm travelling - sometimes it's good, sometimes, well, it's not. Somehow, I never get food poisoning / or whatever place on the planet I'm ins version of 'Deli Belly'.

I don’t eat brats with sauerkraut; I eat sauerkraut with brats!  Love that stuff. Especially the heavy brine. Ambrosia!

My family is Eastern North Carolina. That means pork and everything’s vinegar based.  East Carolina BBQ is undoubtedly an acquired taste for most.  And I love me some collards with fried corn bread, fried okra, and hush puppies. Throw in a pickled pig’s foot for dessert and call it a day!  (Scrambled eggs w/pig brains is a bit overrated but not bad.)

Lutefisk?

I've never had it.

Perhaps - I've had Lutefisk , but something in my Bear Brain says the other 'thing' I had, was different to it.  It was, absolutely  Vile,  whatever it was called.

One type of food I Really can't handle, is Hot Chilly type things. I'm just Not equipped for such stuff. A group I worked with in California, we'd go out for lunch every day, and it was always some sort of 'Mexican' food, and they All had a taste for nasty, Nasty Chilies. They'd pretty much seek out the Hottest of Hot things, and compete with each other. It was, at times, Not Pretty! I'd have the most basic of things, when with them, and they took my saying I'd get rather cranky if they tried to  feed me their level of Scovilles that they fancied, seriously, thankfully. A good, but Epicureanly crazy group of people

Though, I can pretty much Inhale Vegemite - and I always get a chuckle from  (most) Americans reaction to it. My Nan, who was as Aussie as, didn't like Vegemite - said it tasted like crushed Bull Ants - I think she got that Right - it's so bloody Yummie!

😄 Dude, I am being 100% serious when I say this... I am not sure I would eat it. I might actually be the guy who would literally rather die than eat sushi.

And EVH4ever, I figured out the conspiracy plot on my own, but thanks for confirming it for me.

Strawberry shortcake. Dad's favorite was strawberry shortcake with milk poured over it. 🤢 had to go pick Strawberry's while mom made homemade shortcake. I haven't ate a Strawberry since dad died 37 years ago. 🤣

But you'll eat a hot dog.

Makes sense.

BTW, what's wrong with tongue? It's just another muscle.

There is a place down the street in the "little Mexico" part of town that makes a knockout lengua taco. Don't know why people sleep on that.

ARM, That sounds disgusting as hell, but I would try it. I’ve been wrong many times before.
