So Trump has now been punked by Canada, the EU, Japan and China. Elon is leaving DOGE and leaving politics because his feelings are getting hurt. The war in Ukraine is still going on, stock market is in a panic, the world is losing faith in the USD, military equipment contracts are being cancelled. Prices are still high, except for gas because Trump has tanked oil prices to the point its not even worth it to "drill baby drill." The Pope hated meeting JD so much he literally said "Lord take me" after meeting him and the Lord obliged. Oh, and now there's a constitutional crisis going on because not only did the WH ignore the Trump-packed supreme court, but he's ignoring the constitution and trying to run for a 3rd term.

Are you tired of all this winning yet?

You won’t get anyone who worships Trump that wants to address.

They’ll just call you names. Post stupid memes and try to act like you’re the problem for pointing this stuff out.

No real rebuttable of any intelligence will be given to you.

Hell, @EVH4Ever already showed us he ain’t got the brain power to respond. Who woulda guessed that he wouldn’t have an intelligent response? 🤣

So a better candidate/ plan would be…

Most of us (you and me) don’t really know what’s going on since I for one refuse to listen to the garbage media - Fox CNN CNBC MSNBC ABC CBS Reuters BBC the Guardian, blah blah

I think the tariffs will generate income. I still haven’t figured out why people want billions $ towards “the study of transgender men menstrual cycles” and all the other complete BS. Who wants that sh-t?

I don’t agree with some of Trump’s methods but some of the stuff you mentioned is just a result of trying to reign in the spending. Look, Biden Harris or whatever dumbf-ck person the Dems would’ve put there would’ve continued to totally screw this country to its balls.

Russia attacked Ukraine because the dementia f-cked president that you loved so much was too busy feeling up his neices and grandkids to pay attention to anything.

In regards to Musk- mandate special government employees (SGEs) can only remain at their post for 130 consecutive days.  He's got to be out by May 30th anyway. I believe his target was 90 days with his guys training gov employees/consulting ect.

Now if they want in the future there's ways they could bring him back ect for consulting.

How do you know he is a Biden supporter or even a democrat in general?

That's where many of the replies in this thread are flawed. There are plenty of republicans (and independents) who think that Trump is going about some things in the wrong way, particularly harming the economy with tariffs (this thread topic).

Since you mentioned it, the tariffs do generate income but in the process do 2 things:

1) They create uncertainty and instability in the market, which affects US consumer's investments.

2) The income you mentioned generated by tariffs are show up as additional line items on the the US importer's P&L, which are passed through to the consumer, driving up costs up for those same consumers whose investments have been hit in #1 above. Anything not passed through to the consumer are driving those US companies down or out of business (both of which result in job losses for US citizens). It is essentially a tax on consumers.

Another thing on the Ukraine.  It goes back farther than that  to 2014 Crimea ,Russia had the nuke subs stored there anyway (under a 1997 treaty at Sevastopol Naval Base ) - that is the main reason he went in and annexed it.

Now fast FWD.   Zel wants full control of Crimea and Russia completely out.  Russia wont budge on that for obvious reasons.   Here's how the deals have gone. One gets presented with something reasonable. Then Zel makes more demands.  Putin then does the same thing.  I don't foresee that changing in the near future.  The only way Trump could stop that war is with more war. Brute force works best.

A. Hard to look at what's going on across the globe thanks to that meathead and not think things would have been better for everyone involved with Kamala in

Most of us (you and me) don’t really know what’s going on since I for one refuse to listen to the garbage media - Fox CNN CNBC MSNBC ABC CBS Reuters BBC the Guardian, blah blah

A, I watch Global once in a while, but most of my news comes from other sources.

I think the tariffs will generate income. I still haven’t figured out why people want billions $ towards “the study of trans men mental cycles” and all the other complete BS. Who wants that sh-t?

A. All the tariffs will end up doing is isolating the US and making life more expensive and more difficult for the average person. The government will make money, the people will suffer. As for the medical research, it depends, a lot of medical discoveries happen while doing completely unrelated research. I wouldn't be shocked if all that research on gender wound up finding a new cure for things like prostate or breast cancer. BTW, on the mice topic that was being used as an example, Transgenic is completely unrelated to transgender, or gender at all.

I don’t agree with some of Trump’s methods but some of the stuff you mentioned is just a result of trying to reign in the spending. Look, Biden Harris or whatever dumbf-ck person the Dems would’ve put there would’ve continued to totally screw this country to its balls.

A. The US Gov is spending more than ever right now. Oops.

Russia attacked Ukraine because the dementia f-cked president that you loved so much was too busy feeling up his neices and grandkids to pay attention to anything.

A. Russia attacked Ukraine because they wanted to. The buildup was visible during the first Trump term and wasn't stopped then either. Biden is far from blameless but the person who bears the vast, vast majority of the blame for the war is Putin and Putin alone.

“Yeah but …”

What does it matter what the OP is? I didn’t say I disagree wholeheartedly with Trump or Doge to the point of violence, or disagree with “the way he’s going about things” ( putting words in my mouth).

I didn’t know that about tariffs but I think people wish he was tougher. Either way, he’s seemingly got a plan. I could care less if it’s Trump or someone else. If they have some kind of a plan, does it matter who it is?

Most people on the left are driven by the msm, which is only “hate Trump”. That’s all they got.

Why do foreigners seem to be the most complaining about the USA? There should be a case study on this.

Are you saying Trump had a plan for tariffs, and how things have gone with them have happened according to plan?

Oh you’re right, Biden Harris Jeffries have all presented a better plan. What is it? What was their plan? Do nothing? Please tell me what their/your/anyone else but Trump’s/ plan is? Let’s be real, there isn’t one. Even the Republicans don’t have anything, but at least they’re not going bat sh-t crazy.

Why are you trying to put words in my mouth? It doesn’t matter what plan it is, at least he has a plan. I don’t know if he had it right away or decided it later. Who cares?

What are we doing here Zook? Just trying to win a verbal argument that doesn’t matter at all? You know what, I’ll give it to you. There, you won the verbal argument. Congrats

Can you answer the simple ass question?

No more whataboutisms, I’m asking YOU if you think this is the plan

Clearly, I was avoiding putting words in your mouth by asking YOU if you think this was the plan

From my point of view, he seemed to have had a plan, but the train is off the tracks

introduce tariffs, pause tariffs, roll back tariffs, implement different tariffs

Was that the plan you are referring to?

Or was the plan introduce tariffs and the other countries adjust to them

I would just like to see some Lib/ Democrat lawmaker say,

“Okay, 1) Here is our plan to cut govt spending and generate income/revenue to bring down the nat’l debt. 2) Here is our plan to assist with an end to the Russ/Ukr war (without involving the US military). 3) Here is our plan to deal with the 8 million+ illegal aliens that Biden let in.”

Why can’t they do this? I’m scratching my head.

Probably because it’s gone so well with Trump with those plans.

Alright team, we’ve got a plan, but it’s going to piss off everyone and be seen as a complete failure

Right right, we will just continue to do nothing

(This is mostly tongue in cheek, panties should not be wadded over this)

The tariffs are doing exactly as intended - Companies like mine (who source millions and millions of dollars from China) have aggressive plans to move everything being sourced in China out by 1Q26.

In addition, US companies are shifting to "buy American" and so companies like mine are also  moving production back to the US.

China steals our IP, ignores our patents- Its time to crush them..

Finally a administration who supports USA- Which is good for our partners (such as Canada, Japan and others). China is NOT our friends..

Yeah no shit, but who pays the tariffs? Just a simple one word answer would suffice. But I will give you a tip, it ain’t other countries.

Who knew this place was so full of people that want more taxes. 😆

I thought his whole point of his tariff's  was to tax/punish/deter the hell out of people here not buying American.  To make it too expensive to buy anything anywhere else. Which will force industry to move here.  (dont know if it will work)

Boom! That’s the end play that people just aren’t getting.

I thought his whole point of his tariff's  was to tax/punish/deter the hell out of people here not buying American.  To make it too expensive to buy anything anywhere else. Which will force industry to move here.  (dont know if it will work)

The obvious downfall would be that people might not be able to afford to buy American

True.

I also think we are going to see it start taking it's toll on small businesses too that rely on buying bulk components from overseas that they cant get anywhere else. With the stuff going up it may not even be worth it to some to keep going and staying in business.

And like you said - with the inflation. They can always raise their prices - but folks may not buy it simply because they aren't going to be able to afford it. Or they think the price is ridiculous and can live without it.

How this will all turn out...only time will tell.

Yeah no shit, but who pays the tariffs? Just a simple one word answer would suffice. But I will give you a tip, it ain’t other countries.

Who knew this place was so full of people that want more taxes. 😆

Importers

So what’s a better idea, then smart guy?

Sounds like something from Fox? CNN?

Completely agree on the comments about China stealing IP, and I think the west should be harder on China. I just disagree that tariffs are the solution.

Brads comments are great, and I hope they work out as intended, however it seems like a risky play also, Trump freely admits that these tariffs are unsustainable, and comments every day that he wants China to make a deal. Now if the tariffs drop to a more sensible 20% for argument sake, will the  business case still stack up, or will China still be the best place in a business sense for production? And if so how will the business fare after investment has been spent to bring the production to the US if competitors who stayed in China can then offer a cheaper price?

My point is the one thing business hates is uncertainty, and in my life, I have never seen so much uncertainty.

I have a minority stake in a business I helped get off the ground which produces goods in China, ~40% of the business is sales in the US, and has multiple employees based there. It’s a small business, but a good one.
We had nearly 100k worth of goods on the water when tariffs went to 50%, by the time they got to the US, it was over 145%, we paid over 100k in tariff.

The business can eat that on a single shipment, but can’t make money going forward, our goods are cheap, we have looked into producing in the US, and costs would be close to double. Our customers won’t pay double so, we will look at going to other low cost countries, but now we are crippled with indecision, once our stocks already in the US are depleted we will likely hold any supply and try to sell it elsewhere in the world. Maybe test smaller volume at double the price. We are looking at moving production to other countries, but the investment is large, and would be a disaster if we move, and then 2 months after moving the China tariff drops substantially.

My regular day-day job is working for a global company that currently manufactures in both the US and China, and we have no idea what to do.

Again, uncertainty is the enemy of good business.

Have a good evening gents.

The answer is the same that has made the west successful for the last century, dominate where we can win, be better innovators, support the industries that are deemed vital with grants, funding tax breaks and limit the use of tariffs, but when they are used, use them in a targeted way, and with long term consistency so that businesses can effectively plan and operate.

Nothing is perfect, but the fundamentals for the last 50 years have been very successful. Look at countries with long term broad based trade barriers, and tell me you want to live in any of them.

I strongly believe in free market capitalism, with minimal government intervention other than supporting critical industry via incentives. I continue to believe that is the best way.

Yeah, I think a trade embargo with COMMUNIST China is more fitting.

Oh, so now you are all for this?

Why do you insist on being the arbiter of "all things non moto". Too funny.
