Damn, what a thread. As with many others, never met him, but always enjoyed his input on here, and remember the chills I got years ago reading his story of the fateful accident day. Was always the nicest fella on the board.

Such a difficult world we all live in at times. OC certainly navigated his life's course to the best that could be done. I can only imagine the overwhelming feeling of independence and freedom upon making his decision.

Rest easy OCScottie. Never forgotten.

I read this quote at my Dad's funeral a few years ago who died in a MTB race, and think it's fitting here too.

"That man is a success - who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much, who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children, who has filled his niche and accomplished his task, who leaves the world better than he found it, who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it, who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."

glad to hear his family is doing something. The lack of anything from them was weird in my opinion.

It is entirely possible and understandable that his family whilst grieving their loss took the time they needed before arranging Scottie's wake.

Rest easy OC.

Just thought I would put this out for anyone interested. Scott Stewart's celebration of life Saturday July 30th at Sky Park in Scotts Valley C.A. 10:00am to 6:00pm I'll be there from around 10:00 to noon or 1:00 Have a family obligation at 3:00 so I'll be heading back home. Would be nice to meet anyone who can go from this VitalMx group. I'm sure his family would be touched to meet and talk with anyone from this forum and hear how he touched their lives.
To the people that have seen this thread and will be attending, please let it be known to his family and friends that may have not, just how much he was loved and respected from all over the world. Miss you brother.

If people would like to say something on this post I would be more than glad to read them at his eulogy or maybe I'll talk to his brother and see if he would like to read them. I think that would be pretty cool if his brother could get through it, for him to read out loud so Scotties family and friends could hear what a impact Scottie had on people, that he meant something to a lot of people.

One thing I can say is that after his injury he kept living life to the fullest for as long as he could.
He was a role model to keep going like he did, that's for sure!
Some of the stories he told me over the years of things he did was some pretty epic stuff.
Especially when him and Danny/Magoo lived together.
Some of the stuff they did (I promised I would never repeat some of the stories lol).
The thought of one of them still makes me laugh very hard til this day.

Just let his family know how much he was loved by all of us in the sport!

To me that night I thought I could talk him out of it, but it became apparent that time was over. He was already in the process. Learning later about his pain for years I had to submit to it. It's what he wanted. I can't take that away from him. Terminal pain is something I wish on no one. I appreciate that I got to talk to him that night. I freaked out. I thought I could do something, change something, but ultimately, I failed.

This isn't the first time I had a friend on this board pass. I had a friend who I talked to all the time on the DMXS chat. When he passed I got DMXS to shout it out. I have another friend I used to talk to all the time named tompound and I haven't seen him in years.

Please appreciate your fellow friends and fans and stop giving Vital this odd perception that we're dunces.

It was a wonderful gathering of old friends and family to celebrate Scottie’s life. He was smiling down on us as we shared stories and tears. You are not and will never be forgotten brother. Ride In Peace

Hard for me to believe he’s gone, still. OC was full of life.

1 year.

Thought about him last night when I saw an article about Cobain and Staley.
