Just did a Beta demo day last weekend. I personally have a new 300 X-Pro but my son and I wanted to check out the rest of the line. Got to ride the 2-strokes and a few of the 4-strokes. The 390 is a really fun bike and is on the soft side. Both power delivery and suspension. You can ride that bike all day. Perfect bike for dual sports. Power is a bit deceiving though. I rode it after being on the 450 mxer for 35 minutes. The 450 is a beast and cannot be ridden slow at all. Flameout! The 390 feels slower than what it is. My kid was in front of me on the 390 while I was on the 450 on a short open mx section and I had to push pretty hard to real him in. Impressive for a trail-based bike. We wanted to ride the 480 but some numb nuts crashed it, set it on fire, and burned it to the ground. Almost taking the entire woods section along with it. I feel so bad for the guys putting on the demo. Unfortunately, they did not have the 430 there.20250329 145744.jpg?VersionId= OMsq.ZVgWMnF8Zj7SsUi5Y0z20250329 145752

Yea the 390 was interesting when it came to flameout because there was none! I did some laps on a rutted turn track and came through some really tight deep corners in 2nd and it just would not stall out.

Agreed! I kinda did the same thing when I rode it. You can lug it really low and not have to worry about it coughing on you. It is so smooth also. Really deceiving speed.

You can't compare the FX350 to a Beta 390. I have a FX350 and there is no comparison. The FX is a 350 mx bike with a large gas tank, 18" rear wheel, and a wide ratio tranny. That bike rips! The Beta is more woods focused and will lug in technical stuff. It isn't a 2-stroke, but it is good. The FX will flame out and overheat in conditions where the Beta will shine. Believe me, I've lived that nightmare. I use my FX for mx and GPs. Beta 300 X-Pro for the tight snot we have here in eastern PA.

I'm jealous...multiple bikes is honestly the only "right" set up there is...looking for a single "do everything" bike is a constant compromise...

I've been riding Yamaha 450's for years (on 450FX's since about 2018) and I really like them...I've found that 2nd gear on those is almost cheating in technical stuff (for anyone that is half decent with a clutch)...but I'm just getting to old for 450's these days, and I'm looking for something lighter-but ideally not giving up anything in terms of ridability.

I'm a desert racer (Vet A class) and single track guy...and finding a bike that does both well is, like I said, a constant compromise.  Great single track bikes aren't great in the desert, and great desert bikes aren't great at single track.

Is a 390 the best compromise? That Husky 350 I rode sure seemed like it could have been...

I have the opportunity to have both and the wife is good with it, so I'll take it. It is always a compromise. Ex mid-pack +40/50A mxer gone to off road. I went with a FX350 a few years back because I came off of Suzuki 450 4-strokes for mx and wanted to downsize since we have pretty tight trails here in eastern PA. A 450 is just asking for overheating and flame-outs. I thought 350 since I heard they were a little more docile and wanted to stay with a 4-stroke. The FX was awesome for open areas and flowing trails but not tight stuff. It is really made for west-coast scrambles and desert. I tried to make it work but it wants to rev and go fast! You can do 100+mph with stock gearing. Had to get something that is built for the crap we ride in. Beta 300, here we go. Been awesome so far!

RR race edition. Found a 2021 1/2 with about 1 hour on it.

If you really wanted more opportunities to ride a Beta you would go to the Beta Demo rides.  Not the sharpest tool.

Awesome bike. From the previous picture I was going to ask if you covered/painted the tank, but I see it is a CMT carbon! Never liked the clear tanks for moto.  Was the CMT tank long lead time and/or custom build?

Got to throw my leg over just about everything Beta offers yesterday at a dealer demo day. The bikes are impressive and really made me smile how well they corner.

The 390RR race edition was something else. Felt light like a 250f and you could rev it or lug it. Didn’t wear me out like a 450 typically does. It made me really curious about converting it to a moto only bike. I’m a track guy and trails aren’t necessarily my thing. Any thoughts or experience with this?

Awesome bike…

… front fender sticks up a little too much in the front

A couple of washers in the front fender mounts and it’s perfect. 👍

I’m really considering a Beta RE. I just don’t know if I should go with a 390 or 300. I’m on a 2022 KTM 300xc now, I do a little bit of hard enduro type riding with friends and also race some offroad events throughout the year in Open A or Vet A.

I plan on doing a demo day next month so hopefully I get some clarity for myself. It’s gonna suck if they don’t have both bikes in the race edition though. Anyone with experience on both? I’m wondering if the 390 will be a little easier to ride and may even be a little faster on it. I’ve had KTM branded 300’s for about 10 years now and just can’t get super comfortable on them for some reason.

Check out the 3SeasRecreation channel on YouTube. They have several videos with good comments from the early 2025 dealer meeting in California.

I really want a 300 RX, but after listening to them rave about the 200 RRX-Pro I'm having some second thoughts. 😎

I’m trying to imagine a crash that leads to a bike catching on fire. Electrical short , ruptured fuel tank , header laying on dry grass, arson ?  Idk. None of it makes sense.

That 300RX has got to be the sweetest looking bike made imo. But I think it was a 3 Seas video I watched they said it’s ALOT. As much as I want to plug my ears and not hear that, they’re probably right. 390 felt like you could ride it all day and it never get away from you. It lugged around really well in tight stuff too. These guys in here have me looking for a 430 though.

He must have been a new rider. He got himself on the side of a wooded hill on a tight off-camber corner and fell over. He must have either knocked the gas cap off or he tore the fuel line off and the gas got on the hot engine or pipe. My son and I were changing into our gear when the fire trucks, police, and an ambulance showed up. Had no clue what was going on until the promoter told us that we would be having a delay in our start time. He mentioned that some guy caught the 480 on fire and almost took the woods along with it. Never saw anything like it.

So my opinion is slightly different than some others. After riding all the Beta's the 430 was my favorite fourstroke. With its quicker revving motor and shorter stroke the 430 just felt lighter, more nimble and playful than the 390. The 430 is nothing like a 450 (even Beta 450) it’s very smooth and easy to ride as all Beta off-road bikes are, it just has a little more of a race bike feel to it. If I was building a race bike I’d definitely go 430 over 390

Yes same Cullins, that’s my son. My other son Cole is currently riding and working for Beta on the trials side as well as I’m a trials only Beta dealer.

Unless your doing pretty technical, slow single track riding I’d for sure go with the 200 Race model. The KYB suspension is great on that bike! My two favorite bikes are the 200 & 430 race. Don’t know which I’d buy. Very different bikes, but both great

Do you have any experience on the 350 and 390?  I’m curious the difference in power delivery between the two…how does the long stoke motor on the 390 feel compared to the 350?
