Another big thing is the team around him. KTM guys seem to bend over backwards and have the same winning mentality that Chase has. It surprises me he is willing to leave that. With the pressure and expectation, they (Ian) seem so level headed with Chase and his blunders this year.

I think the KTM group, his mechanic, AP as a team mate, he looks so much more comfortable on the bike, the freedom they have given him. I see leaving that as a bad move. That stuff has to count for something with overall happiness when you are getting straight up beat and making stupid costly errors on the regular. I say that as a Chase fan. I don’t see him getting significantly better on a different bike and having near as much fun over there. Although that kawi has looked good in Supercross this year.

Ktm being open to anything is new with chase. Maybe he can get some promises from Kawasaki they will be more open. That’s why these blanket statements don’t make sense. It’s fun to debate though.

Honda seemed willing to do anything to help the guy. KTM and the whole can of worms using with suspension they did for Chase, something they wouldn’t do with Coop. That was a huge move and black eye on the team and WP.

At some point a move to Kawi (big if) if Chase and his dad aren’t happy, does a team just give up on the guy as he is the problem? Would be really hard for him to go anywhere else with that reputation, especially for elite level $$.

He would have to be dead set that the bike is what he wants/needs. I guess Kawi is willing to bend over backwards to get a guy to win supercross again too. Definitely an interesting one for bench racing. Hope he keeps killing it regardless.

Well have anyone thought that KTM NA might be on a heavy budget diet? They might not have the funds from the parent company to put so much money into what a rider of Sextons caliber would demand?

And that is the reason why Kawasaki is interested and Chase is willing to move on if KTM doesn't pay up.

Because it's common knowledge that for an example Herlings took a paycut.

I tend to think this is the case, I would say Chase and his people are trying to determine if KTM will be solvent.

I would say Kaw was going after him no matter what.

What does he do if he can't beat Prada outdoors, he might want to wait on his final decision until after MX....

Yes i agree.

And them evaluating an offer from Kawasaki doesn't automatically implicate that Kawasaki suddenly is the most flexible operation in the field and will bend over backwards for Chase Sexton and his bike preferences/demands like some in the thread are suggesting.

on pulp AP leads us to believe that he has inked a deal for 2026. Does that insinuate that chase has signed a deal with someone? 2 weeks ago everyone was saying "waiting for the big dawgs to sign" "nothing happens til the big dawgs sign." etc, etc.

Actually, KTM's continued financial trouble could be why Chase wants out?

I personally wish could/would stay.

I think he just doesn’t like the steel frame.

Chase was probably breaking in Kitchen’s practice 450 for the last few weeks.

That would have been a really dumb way to give KTM a big refund 🤣🤣

I feel like riders definitely used to switch teams more often back in the day. Even MC only rode for Factory Honda for 4 years. RC was at each of his teams for 3 years then bounced.

It seems like guys stay put a lot longer now. Maybe I’m misremembering though.

Unpopular opinion here but if I'm KTM, go sign JCoop and elevate AP to the 1 spot. See how he does with everyone and everything on him for a year then reassess.

Less salary, better storyline for the fans if there is another step into multiple race wins a season type of rider. That is if Tom isn't forced to move up.

To me Sexton is gone from KTM as quickly as possible. Interested to see where RJ ends up on KTM or Husky. I figure Mookie and AP are locked in. Vialle to the 450 and RJ on Husky would give them 2 riders each. And not sure if it was talked about on the Anderson thread but would not be surprised if he is done at Kawi. Meaning no outdoors this year.

Pipe dream. AP is at his ceiling. And that’s probably being a little too nice.

You are right he isn't a championship winning guy. But he's a brand that has a huge following, he is practically KTM legacy and royalty, and he is capable of being in the top 5 all the time. Not saying I wouldn't want a top name if I was them either, but who knows if they even have the budget for that. Get a break in salary without much of a drop in branding. Even if for a year.

Riddle me this - who else of the 7 race winners can they get if Chase jumps?

I could see them keeping Vialle down if he doesn’t win the title this year, maybe they’d have him 250mx only with select 450 race’s similar to Jcoop in 2023 if they don’t have space, plus if Deegan moves up for 2026mx the 2026 250mx title is wide open

Results wise AP reminds me of a Davi Millsaps 2.0, even though they had completely different roads through amateurs to the 450 class

Honestly as much as I want to say this is Deegans outdoor title for sure, everyone was saying Deegan was going to dominate 250 west and it hasn’t panned out how anybody was expecting

If you watch any of the Star IG videos of them riding outdoors, I think it's pretty safe to say Davies is going to give everyone headaches this summer. Might take him a race or two to get into the swing of things, but he's going to be right there every weekend.

ETA: Mix in a confident Hymas, Hammaker with a head of steam, plus Vialle, and Deegan definitely has his work cut out for him.

Supercross and outdoors are basically two different sports, one requires you to glide across the track with good technique(sx), the other allows you to have a rough around the edges style and the yamaha likes the outdoor rutty conditions. Haiden has been racing outdoors all his life, he hasn’t been racing supercross nearly that long, practicing vs racing is different. Just my thoughts.

If Kawi signs Chase, that’s two massive salaries next year for two riders in my opinion that will be fighting for an outdoors championship only.

if Kawi is going all in on Prado and Sexton in hopes for an outdoor title that could have both Jett and Tomac back on the gate... I dont know if that's a basket id be willing to put all my eggs in if i was a betting man.

If Chase goes to Kawi then I see it pretty similar to the Lawrence bros at Honda. One phenom title threat A rider (Jett and Chase) and the other super solid fringe title threat B rider (Hunta and Jorge). SX showed that Jorge will most likely not adapt as fast as planned.

Prado a top championship guy for outdoors  and will win races this year imo. I expect him to be battling Jett and Chase.

Those are good thoughts, I agree with you for the most part but I have a hard time believing Haiden hasn’t been riding SX for very long, he seems like he’s been training on SX tracks since a very early age. I could be wrong, those are just my thoughts also

Kawi must be reasonably flexible now, prado said they did plenty of testing and stuff to make him happy, he also said kawi feels lighter and turns better than the gas gas/ktm in sx form and that it tracks so much better in the whoops and the faster you go the better it tracks. Chase whoop speed could be back

There's videos of Haiden ripping around sx tracks on mini bikes,  he's been groomed for this all his life. He has more experience on sx tracks than anyone out there. Maybe not racing but practicing on them, and honestly i think he should be better than anyone on them.
