Cleaning under the seat

Stupid question, but how do you guys/gals clean under the seat. I'm talking about all the electronics. My bike (KTM 350) isn't muddy under there, but just a build up of thick dust. I'm certainly not going to pressure wash it, but any alternatives out there?

I use a vacuum with one the brush attachments on it to get the dust out, then a damp rag to clean up anything else.

Good call. I'll try that out. Thank you.

I’m probably guilty of getting my electronics/under seat area etc a little wet from time to time.  If I do I hit it with my handy dandy, trusty 18 volt Ryobi leaf blower.  I used to use a Stihl gas blower but wife complained about gas fumes.  Guess I should not have used it in the house that one time!

I usually just hit with compressed air but I definitely have washed under there before just super far away with a pressure washer like a mist then hit it with with compressed air, keep a little bit of dielectric grease on your ECU plug.

As long as you’re not close with the pressure washer you’ll be just fine. If you’re paranoid about corrosion on your electronics you can unplug your connections and blow the water out/ let them dry out over night

HA! My house gets a really nice front door to back door airflow when the breeze is going, and the back of the house is pretty much wide open to the yard, so when it's breezy I use my cordless blower and blow out the house. Of course I don't do it when the wife is here.😆

Our house gets cleaned once a week, and the amount of pet hair that still goes flying out the door is shocking.

I pressure wash under the seat/air box every time, have not have any issues with electronics. Always dry with leaf blower/compressed air. I do prep all connections with dielectric grease for what it’s worth when bike is new

Up until the last kid moved out (a week ago) that is how I cleaned my office in the garage every day. Nothing co-exists better than computers and dust.🤣

Spoke to a Factory KTM mechanic about this at Red Bud 2 yrs ago, he said,1000001654 KTM uses Marine Grade electric connectors on the race bikes. As long as you're not hitting it every wash with a pressure washer, your ok to give them a light (distance) pressure wash or use a hose to clean all the grime. I take every connector apart when new and use Dielectric grease for good measure. Don't forget to use it on your battery terminals too.

I do Periodic under seat light pressure wash and dry the whole bike with Tornador blow out gun @ 90psi.  Amazing  tool that works fantastic dry as well blowing out dust and debris. I use this thing all the time for a variety of tasks. The car detailers secret and my Fav moto tool.
