how many wins would he have right now? does he have the raw speed of canard right now? if he got a 8th place start in this gnarly class could he still win a moto??

lets be serious...now that reed is out, grant and alessi have quit, short has zero conditioning....and all the depth is in the 250's.....has dungey got an easy ride and is overated right now?

c'mon man....would have you bet against the only guy other than the goat that ever won 24 motos?? 24 motos!!

everybody goes all bayle on pourcel...i think canard has a rare talent over everybody in the way that he somehow keeps the power to the ground like nobody else....that's his edge!

YES. He would have a hard time in the lites. He will have a hard time when some of the lites ridsers step up next year and he would certainly have a hard time in MX1.

Didn't Dungey win the 250 championship last year?!

Dungey deserves everything he gets... he has won both classes now.

No one can take anything away from what he has accomplished in the last two years in the USA. He is America's best rider.

I agree he is americas best rider right now. I'm just not used to americas best rider not being insane fast like RC and JS7 in their prime days and also RV.

Doing SX on 450's have hurt the depth in the 450 class for motocross. It's just not that impressive as it used to be. This makes mxdn less interesting for me. Usually it was rest of the world vs RC and RC was still favourite. Now US is just a solid team and it's just a teamrace.

Beating RC or JS7 was a big deal. Beating Dungey is not comparable cause we know he wins because SX took so many riders out.

OK..that's what you meant. In the United States the premier outdoor series this year is the 125/250f Lucas Oil MX series. Not sure if you've watched this series but I can give you a brief overview. There's 7 racers capable of winning any time the gate drops. Considering that there are only 3 races left in this series that's a good size number of top level racers this late in the game. Not sure if MX1 has that many racers when their gate drops. The other racers in the Lucas Oil series are also damn fast too. Next year, the 250/450f Lucas Oil MX series might be our premier class. In Europe is the MX1 class the only class that can be considered "premier"?

Our MX2-class isn't as exciting as your Lites. There aren't 7 riders cabale of winning just two or three really. Those three riders are pretty fast though.

The best three riders in MX2 would add three more potential winners if they did the Lites in the US.

Hopefully they combine the series some day in the future. This is stupid to divide an already small sport into something even smaller.

X2. MX1 in Europe and 450s here are the premeir classes. Yes lap times aren't to far off but the 450 is harder to ride. Obviously the 250s are stacked with talent because that's the test of a rider, can they move up to the 450? Not all those guys that are ripping right now are gonna make it as 450 riders. Dungey's outgrown the 250 anyhow and was almost too big for the bike last year. I bet he's got 30lbs on CP and Canard. Has Canard EVER beaten Dungey? Maybe a few times, I don't remember. AC and Dungey are the PREMIER riders in the world

Although I see hammertime's point, I think Dungey has figured out a program that works, and would be a threat in either class, although he would be at a disadvantage on the 250f because of his size.

We will see next year when some of the top 250 guys move up to the big bore class.

Cool thread bro...

Does it even matter, since it's not reality? Another stupid "what if" thread; awesome.

Ever since the dawn of 4S's I have felt that the 250F class is the premier class, WAY DEEP and way more hyper. 450's idleing around the track aint my idea of MX.

Right, Canard has an edge. That's why Pourcel ran him down from 5th place the last time they met. He's caught and passed Canard a few times ...... because Canard has the edgeSmile

Although I agree that the 250f class is more exciting, your comment about 450s idling around the track is silly.

Won't even read what everyone has said except Dungey would be leading the 250 pts if he was racing.

It's just hammer jumping on another of his bandwagon's. He'll be off Canard's and onto someone else's before you know it! That his modus operandi.

Dungey would destroy all of the Lites riders. I can't even believe this thread was started.

I think the depth in the 250 class in the US comes from supercross because of the two supercross series.. so the treams hire two riders for each coast and this means they all ride outdoors for top teams, whereas in the 450 class they just hire 2 riders because it is one series.

Hammer, it's good to see you posting more here.

Just my opinions, but I think he would have a tougher task in the 250's now, because more of the top talent remains in the class. I also think he's better suited for the 450 than the 250.

You have to say he's also got a terrific program and a perfect fit with RD and Goose and the rest of the Suzuki squad. It reminds me a bit of how Bailey developed at Honda, and his personality (public at least) seems similar.

Didn't Dungey beat them all last year except for 243, 108 and whoever else I am forgetting. Dungey and Pourcel were gone in points.

250f's last year had guys dinged like the 450's this year. Canard was hauling before he got hurt and Ratray and Searle missed rounds.

Dungey is as good as anyone in a long time at racing each moto for the championship, and that patience in the motos pays off. Pourcel is smart that way, too.

Post a reply to: if dungey was in the premier class...250
