"Trump signs executive order requiring proof of citizenship in federal elections: 'An honor to sign this one'"

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order requiring people to provide proof of American citizenship when they register to vote and demanding that all ballots be reviewed by Election Day.

The order requires government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship on its voter registration forms, directs the attorney general to enter into information-sharing agreements with state election officials to identify cases of election fraud or other election law violations and conditions federal election-related funds on states complying with federal election integrity measures.

"There are other steps that we will be taking in the coming weeks," Trump said just before signing the order. "We think we'll be able to end up getting fair elections."

I don't really believe there are that many ineligible people voting but realistically there shouldn't be any.  It's not outrageous to expect folks to prove their eligibility in some form or another.  Hell, my cell phone can read my thumb print.  It aint that hard or onerous.  Don't want to follow rules...fine...then don't vote.

In California, voter registration and voting regulations are like HIPAA laws.........can't ask or talk about.

I'm sure Cali has found a way to convolute things.  Here in Kansas anyone can search and find out which party a person is registered with.  In light of current rabid idiots on both sides...that ain't good either.

Prove eligibility one time, prove who you are at the polls, vote in private.  It's really not that hard.

Good of Trump to follow Canada's lead on this. They always ask for ID to vote up here.

Lived in 7 different states since becoming of age to vote.

I can't remember any of them where I didn't have to show an ID, and have it crosschecked with a registered voter list.

I have never got the outrage in this.  Since it’s to register to vote, I presume most countries would have some sort of check system in place when going into the roll

Who doesn't have an i.d.? If you don't then you are not even contributing to society so why vote anyway. I.D. is free in every state to poverty stricken individuals.

I've honestly never understood the opposition to this from the Left?  Unless they are banking on non-citizens/illegals voting for them if they oppose it...that's the only thing I can see?

Another bravo to Trump for this one...

I think:

Republicans believe there is more voter fraud then reality.

Democrats believe there is less voter fraud then reality.

Truth- its somewhere in the middle. Yes voter fraud exist- this is a fact. Not convinced its enough to sway a general election..??

Its pure coincidence that the only states Kamala did well in, have no voter ID rules then?

Must be.

I cant see how proving that you are a citizen, in order to vote should be controversial.

The bigger problem is mail in votes and counting votes more than one day.

If you were told the amount of wasteful spending that has been uncovered (so far) a year ago,  would you have believed it?

Everything with our government is worse than it appears.

I voted early in October 2024.  First time I never just showed up on Tuesday to vote.  I had to show my ss card and Id. They then gave me my ballet. Once done I turn in the ballet to them.  It then has to be put in one envelope, sign some papers again then into another envelope.  I was very happy to have all that extra work for an early ballet.  Why can't everyone at least show an ID to vote anytime?

Haiden Deegan has multiple IDs, in case somebody wants to borrow one!

Yes, we all knew the government wasted money to the extent being discovered.

I just don’t think voter fraud is as rampant as us conservatives like to think.

There are really only two reasons you would oppose voter ID laws:

1) You really do believe that minorities aren't smart enough to get ID,
or
2) You want non-citizens to vote and sway the election results.

You live in the land of freedom, so why should the government be IDing you?

The problem is some illegals have exploited our freedoms.  This is why we cant have nice freedoms like no ID.  People will cheat that system in heart beat .

Same goes for the other billion laws we have here in the land of free. This is why we cant have nice things. Smile

I remember a few Euro fans off here coming over here to the MXON one year - they were friggin pissed when they couldn't get a drink because they were only 20 years old. Had no clue we had a drinking age.  "WTF is so free about this place - I cant even have beer without being put in a cage". lol

That’s not like it is here in our country. And given our previous administration with the influx of illegals, it only makes sense to ID people. Thank you you for your generous concern, though.

So you are happy to have you freedoms restricted by mandating government IDs!
