My concerns have more to do with this being another example of how unserious and unqualified the members of this administration are. Amateur hour all day every day. I understand some aren't bothered by this. I am.
There's always room for security improvements.
As far being incapable you make a good point. We get these people in office for a short time and trying to teach them or anyone security isn't easy. There's always going to be some sort of issue. But every time an issue is found - it's fixed/patched (even human error). It doesn't matter who the president was ect.. It makes things more secure every time an issue is fixed.
Sure I would chalk this up as bone head move that hasn't harmed anyone. Yes it's ok to laugh at them. But to turn this into some huge ordeal - I personally think it's silly. People online are talking about treason death penalty ect.. I'm sure you know what side of the isle that is coming from. It's silly.
In the least, it’s terribly unprofessional, unacceptable. I have no idea why you would try to defend this. They could have been getting info from someone on the ground, as to, where the Houthis leaders were. If so, the Houthis could know who gave them the info.
We got lucky. That's the truth. I believe it'll get fixed going forward.

You do know the people of Yemen knew they were gonna get hit by us strikes 4 hours before hand right? That is why they evacuated part of O hospital before hitting it with 13 rounds.
There's systems in place over there that centcom uses - it's like red alert. It's an acceptable warning system before bombing areas where there may be civilians. It's not legal to bomb any civilian area without proper notice.
I guess I'm somewhere in the middle but I agree the death penalty or whatever talk is crazy. I think firing/resigning makes a lot of sense for this blunder.
Team circle jerk in here proving their lack of integrity as always. What a bunch of pathetic fucking hypocrites this board has become. The dumbest fuckers are the biggest ball lickers as always.
I get it - you don't like them nor do you put much trust them.
But I personally don't have any major sec concerns at this time - until something pops up. Now if they do something like this again and didn't learn from this. I believe they should be in trouble. 1st times a mistake, everyone makes mistakes, second time shows clear Incompetence .
However, also I'd certainly support mandatory cyber sec short-term bootcamps or certification courses for any gov official or employee. It would cost roughly 3k per employee.. so it would be spendy. But our sec standard would raise.
I feel as though these kind of mistakes are the things you work through over the course of a career long before you're the one in charge. These guys didn't do that and are going through the growing pains in positions where that shouldn't be acceptable to anyone. I want the people in these positions to be exceptional, not the source of learning opportunities. It's predictable problem when taking the approach that Trump has taken with appointments and I'm less confident than you that this is just an isolated fluke event.
I obviously don't agree with going to the other extreme either but I'm numb to the absurdity of the MSNBC demographic. Sound and fury signifying nothing.
Seems to me the guidelines put forth under the Biden administration should have included warnings about unintended recipients of messages, and group chat security.
Not including such is an indicator the previous administration was unqualified in that area. Perhaps leaving that out served a purpose for them?
You also understand that this has been faced pretty much head-on by this administration. Not entirely, but mostly.
Let's contrast that with the previous administration actively engaging in public deception by covering up Biden's severe mental decline, and potentially taking advantage of that to push forward actions which were not understood or approved by the elected President. That goes far beyond unprofessional.
I didn’t know that, but it doesn’t excuse the security issue or horrible look optically. I’m Sure President Trump is pissed. He hates using technology for these reasons.
Well when you look at this country it's really just one big experiment. Even the founding fathers would agree to that. It's all about learning experiences - touch and go.
But yes I agree - cyber sec training all throughout our gov should be heavily implemented and improved and folks need to keep up on it. It should be a norm just as speaking English, being able to read and write is a norm within the gov. All folks should be tested on security and what not before holding any position. That would be ideal. But who knows what will come of this. I'm glad though they are looking into signal and probably going to create some better policies that improve sec.
As far as being numb - I've seen a ton of stuff over the years in regards to security breaches ,tech and human error ect... I typically first analyze any damage and then close the door/fix the issue. If no damage was done - it's nothing but an embarrassment to the victim. They get a fast education. So for many it can mean a blessing in disguise.
What was your last Username?
At the end of the day.
The only thing that it caused is great embarrassment as it would anyone in the same situation. And yes Trump is looking into signal. Technology will keep progressing and they are going to have to keep up with it in a security sense.
Are you sure you want to lean on the "everything is Joe Biden's fault" strategy? It didn't work out so well for the democrats last cycle.
It's pretty obvious when their first post is in non-moto - they aren't new. lol
When will they learn.
If democrats did this, everyone on this site would have a kindergarten tantrum. There’s a reason republicans like to keep the gen pop dumb. Easier to have blind followers when they’re uneducated. And most motocross people on vital are uneducated…

I wonder if there was an information security issue that led to the 4 dead US soldiers in Lithuania near the border of Belarus?
I seen that on stratfor earlier. They were from Fort Stewart (1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division) and it was a tactical training accident. That's all that is being released at this time. I'm sure we will know more in the near future.
Is that Austin?
Yes!!😂😂👍
Nope there's plenty of shit they did that were embarrassing and stupid while we pointed it out as mental decline and repeatedly pointing out him not being in charge it was also acknowledged as mostly nothing. I don't see a single person not acknowledging it was a fuck up or that it isn't serious. We just seem to have differences of opinion on the varying degrees of how serious it is.
Maybe go back and check out everyone's reactions to a real security leak. Good look at what everyone said when the U.S. pro hamas leaker leaked actual theater strategy plans of Isreals 2 weeks before their planned raid in Iran. Leaked with classified markings and all. Now this isn't an apples to apples as far as how it's leaked. But I vaguely remember alot of people defending it by saying well it was still successful wasn't it, no one died right. I could be wrong wouldn't be the first time.
As far as the use of signal talking to 2 friends one in CBP/DHS and another in DHS who's also ex SS.
Both use signal, most people they work with use signal or varying other communications as approved by government and lastly it is my understandin from most people in goverment and feild agents are using it or similar.
I think the only leg they have to stand on this being anything is the skirting records bit.
Some of you commenting on why they were using Signal and how you’ve got it on solid background that they shouldn’t have been using it…yada, yada, yada…
I have a Signal acct. It was assigned to me by one of the departments in the “oh so controversial Signal debacle”…along with a phone with a removable sim…
I receive data from no less than 5 gov’t depts on that acct…
As Eddy stated…it’s cyphered on both ends.
I’m jus’ sayin’…
You might want to re-read what I posted. I mentioned nothing about it being Biden's fault.
The more we learn about that administration, the more I consider that Biden was just the patsy they needed.
The Signal chain wasn’t hacked, it simply included the wrong attendee. A lesson needs to be learned, and that lesson should be Waltz hitting the streets.
Bigger lesson: the information exchanged was highly classified, and the “no harm, no foul” counter argument is weak. Things could have gone south quickly had someone with less credibility received the text chain. And the aircrew flying over the beach really don’t need the boys in DC taking such a haphazard approach to classified coms.
Maybe they shoulda used BleachBit or just hammered something to smithereens!
Comey said that a completely acceptable practice with classified stuff.
Here's a live stream from Ward Carroll, a former Top Scope F-14 Naval Aviator and professor at the Naval War College.
He says this kind of carelessness has tremendous potential for unintended consequences including giving the bad guys plenty of time to get out of the crosshairs before the strike happens along with a chance to get their substantial anti-aircraft weapons on target against our aircrews.

Maybe ole whiskey nose didn't get the memo - this wasn't a surprise attack. Civilian targets were hit..O Hospital. By law they have to be warned ahead of time. That is scary though - a fighter pilot that doesn't understand Article 57 of the GC and know we warn all targets that could involve civilian casualties far ahead of time. Now if they hit civilian targets and didnt warn like Obama would do with his drone strikes... I say lock them all up.
