I didn't see this posted so i'm sorry if it's already been put up, but i just cant believe what I'm reading. While practicing yesterday for the Monster/Crusty Night of World Records at Calder Park in Melborne Australia, Robbie Maddison jumped 346 feet while Seth Enslow and Ryan Capes looked on. Unofficially breaking his own record of 322 he set on New Years eve.
Well today the winds were so strong that Capes and Enslow didn't practice but Maddo went out and jumped.....get this: [b:3k211yp2]three hundred and SEVENTY-EIGHT feet!![/b:3k211yp2] Un-fucking real. They are expecting him to go for 400 on Saturday. I'm stunned. I bet ol' Robbie Knievel is whimpering in a corner sucking his thumb somewhere.

I don't think he CAN compete. But really, you never know. He might be ready to throw down. I just hope no one gets killed tomorrow.

common dave!! .. just trying to keep the drama quenn title alive?
granted it's crazy,,but so are a LOT of motorsports.
Nascar, formula one racing at new levels, and NHRA top speed attempts , P51 air races..
all ended when someone died as well eh ?
(how many pilots died this year alone in P51 air races? certainly far more than will ever even attempt to huck 300 feet on a dirt bike)
those type of comments were made at every advancment in history quite likely...
and i'm sure it was stated about the wright brothers as well..
"those foolish kids..gonna go and kill themselves , or get someone killed trying"
time doest stand still..
equipment and times change, new limits are set.
injuries and even death unfortuantly can come from chasing top distances or top speeds, or big steps foward in any form.
personally i'd rather see governers on the new generation of "fiddys" so 6 year old arnt breaking femurs,,
(never seen one happen when the PW class, was on PW50's)
than worry about a handful of adult age daredevils following thier chosen path..
just sayin'!
I do admittedly worry watching those guys jump..
but they are making an experienced choice, and deciding personally that the reward out weighs the risk in
them furthering the previously help limits.
Congrats on succeeding to do so.
Cmon, you know you wish you were the Kaptain!

it looked like Seth just wanted to hit the 300ft mark, Capes was happy with his one attempt while Maddison just seems so determined to go further and further, it seemed like maddisons bike was spluttering on his first attempt and barely made it to the end ramp, he later said the cold air almost cost him his life because of this.
Post a reply to: Maddo = nut case!
