Let me start by saying I am, well was, always an RC fan. I watched him and traveled to see him race almost his entire career. I guess he was almost a hero to me throughout his career.
Fast forward to all these recent revelations about how DB, probably one of the best SX guys to have a camera in his face, was so terribly disrespected and I am seriously disappointed at how human beings can be such dirtbags to one another. Lee, who is ok at his job somehow thinks he is the greatest announcer of all time. Was it the ego or the fear that drove him to have a talk with DB about his place in SX? Carmichael, pulls his dick move on Blairs pre race show and makes a complete ass of himself. Blair btw handles it like the true pro he is. I have to believe they were both working behind the scenes with the NBC head douche to get him pushed out. It's sickening IMHO.
I believe every word of what DB says on his podcast about what really happened. 100% have zero doubt that the texts, calls, meetings etc that Lee, RC and the NBC head douche bag had with Blair happened exactly as he tells it. It is a sickening example of how money, greed, power and egos ruin things for the fans.
So now we are stuck with RC who is cringe worthy 50% of the time he is on air. He is a bumbling idiot and makes so many damn mistakes. He's had years to get better and he's still honestly terrible. Even before the Blair controversy came out, I was embarrassed for RC and always said he should not be in that position. Blair on the other hand is extremely smooth and easy to listen to. He sounds highly educated and very sharp with his points. So who loses in the end? We all do. I think DB would have taken huge strides in the booth. I think DB, Weege and Stew with JT on the track would have been a great combo of talent.
It's just a sad world we live in when the decision makers are using politics to make decisions vs actually picking the best guy. And there is zero doubt who is better between Carmichael and Blair. Zero. So what can be done to get rid of RC and Lee? How much more yelling do the fans have to do? Sadly it will never result in DB coming back but RC and Lee have to go!
Huge Blair fan and bummed with the way that all turned out, but this needs to be let go. Let's move on.

in the Blair Matthes project last week he basically apologised to his kids for being away so much, i think it was more to this than just not getting on with RC, Diffey and a unnamed NBC Exec,

Honestly don’t understand the whole hating commentators thing. Weege is by far my favorite, but the others are going to be there regardless so no use wasting time and energy complaining about. Diffey is one of the biggest announcers in the world so you know they aren’t going to get rid of him. RC isn’t the best but he’s a legend in the sport and pretty much the same with bubba. DB was great at commentary and it sucks what happened but we only know one side of the story and DB will now never be in the booth again.
So post in one of the other umpteen threads maybe?
