Get well soon Mike!
Quick Alessi story. A couple years ago, I saw on Instagram that Mike was traveling by himself from FL to a local track near me for a big Pro/Am race. I sent him a PM and told him that if he needed any mechanic help at the race, I would gladly offer my services since I was going to be there hanging out. I am no professional mechanic by any means but I have been a mechanic for a privateer at a Pro National before. I sent him my number and told him to text/call me if he needed help or a place to stay, as my parents house was 45 minutes away and currently empty. I fully expected to not hear anything back.
About an hour later, to my total surprise, Mike text me and told me that he had everything covered but was very grateful for my offer. He couldn't believe that a total stranger would do that. He told me to come hang out with him at his pit at the race. We talked back and forth a couple times after that. I admit that I thought he and his brother did some dumb things in their Pro racing days (they did) but he is a total, genuine cool dude now. He loves the sport and loves to race his bike. It bothers me that so many people still have a negative perception of him.
My son and I got to hang out with Mike and his crew all day at Cross Creek MX years ago. He was very nice to both of us. (Tony, too) Like Alph said, that guy loves moto more than anyone I ever met.
Get better 800.
Man I really would’ve liked to see Mike get a 250 national title or something. Just one for what he’s poured into the sport. Can’t say he never had heart!! I remember watching him as a kid at Perris when he would have like 5 cr85s and 2 cr125 parked outside our their rig. He’s a racers racer.

That's a pretty neat repair job considering the before pics.
No kidding what a work of art. Stoked for Mike. Safe to say he had a different surgeon than the guy who did mine. They don’t all turn out that good Hope he heals fast and complication free !
Wow, that was some very poor work. That doc. needs to stop trying to set bones.
I don’t want to hijack this thread but yeah he sucks. Everyone said “Sue” because it turned into a multiple surgery ordeal. I called lawyers and found out they all wanted to sue the track and the old timers, Yamaha, the flagger, the gate lady, anyone and everyone besides the doctor . So besides getting a not so flattering letter from me the doctor got no penalty, no foul. Here’s another angle, hope he doesn’t make furniture as a hobby cause wtf…Super glad Mike had a good surgeon 👍
I feel for you, dood. That's gnarly looking. Hope it has healed up for you.
I saw a post on Facebook last night that showed Mike on his feet using a walker in the hospital, so he's already walking. Get well soon, holeshot champ!
Son of bitch dood...that's fucking hideous. You're lucky they didn't take that leg.
Agreed!
It was discussed after the first revision got infected, then 3 cleanout surgeries and a non union resulting in revision number 2, which involved carving back the dead bone on each end about 1/2" each side. (Little over 1" shorter total) The infection part was scary. Don't look at this video if your'e sqeamish, if you want to see what a bad infection looks like click away but be warned it's nasty 🤮

Which is why when I hear someone has a successful surgery I'm happy for them, it doesn't always go well. Ok back on track heal up MA800 !
