The ungrateful people from other countries coming in  here and telling us how we should be pissing away our money is bad enough.

It's more sickening the US "citizens" who throw their support behind this shit.

A little added context to the entire conversation...

https://x.com/RichardHanania/status/1895562922593841557

But most here don't want to know the full story.

Again, he was here to get a deal with our president for support.

But his egotistical, short man syndrome, got the best of him.

Again, Ukrainians deserve better.

There nothing written that these private US citizens can't start sending their own checks to Zelensky if they fell that strongly about it.

As always....there is more to the story.

We'll only hear about how it all "blew up" in Trump and JD's face for being mean bullies....

I just took a 10 min break from taxes& dealing with the irs. I turned the tv on and oh wow.  Who knows if this is the truth see pic .  We have a lot of Marines in Ukraine also. This could be bad for them possibly.  Countries that do not obey we usually punish brutally.  Remember 98-99 humiliation bombing we gave Serbia for 78 days.  I had a Serbian living there dispatching me in 20.   Serbian pres said he,s sending his Military to stop the ethnic cleansing .  Our IMG 2528 0.png?VersionId=.SoKTMUIac.DpVh4RIfz1ic88 diplomat said no your not. We bombed there military in route to near Turkey . Then bombed them for 78 days civilian targets etc.  that was about controlling the flow of heroin near  Turkey.

You can go on Chicago work ua on fb. It’s probably blowing up.  The pic #,s r wrong it’s quite a few billion more we gave them.   I see it all over Chicago f Putin bumper stickers. Back of semi trailers we stand with Ukraine. These are trucking co.s operated from Ukraine driving all over America.  Most don’t know English, Not legal here.  I don’t think there terrorist but they are a little different.   I,ll still be on the look out Monday trucking.  Like a truck parked under a bridge or on it.   Where always like that though.  I could tell u about a military load a non English speaking Ukraine driver ended up with . I did a report with the FBI on that one on there website. I called but it was after 5pm & the fbi in Chicago was closed . Not kidding . People hv no idea what is happening here. Another I reported to the fbi on food tampering.  42k of white pepper from Vietnam used to treat rotten meat at a huge meat plant.  It was cross docked unloaded in a Chicago warehouse. Then it was delivered.  Just wondering why it had to sit in a warehouse b4 getting delivered.  They broke the seal & made a matching seal.  I tried tracking that little f er down . He’s on the run in Chicago & back & forth to Eastern  Europe.  He owes me money of course.  I,ve seen Chicago trucking co.s clean offices out ovr night & disappear.  Doing all kinds of illegal stuff & sticking American co.s with Huge bills. They just form another name & start up again.

This right here is the problem with some members here.

You take one person's opinionated view and present it as fact because it fits your preconcieved notions.

I think there's a lot of folks that think the Putin regime should be brought down and put on trial war crimes.   Just like Saddam.

But doing so could start WW3.

I worked on a fiber cable to huge satellites all ovr Va. county side. It was used to spy on Saddam . They said we,ll be able to hear him drop a turd in the toilet water.  That was in the early 90,s.

Kinda how you obviously perceive that whatever happened was a giant fuck up because Trump was involved?

I agree with what you said but it's also very ironic given that you just blindly follow exactly what the Liberals tell you to believe from what I've seen.

If Z doesn’t want to deal with Trump he can get his money and munitions elsewhere…beggars can’t be choosers.

And of course the conversation would be different if it was Putin in that meeting….Putin isn’t begging for, and dependent on, the US to continue to exist…

It’s honestly too bad that the money sent to Ukraine had no accountability to go along with it, leaving the door open to speculation/fear that the funds have been squandered and skimmed and to corruption….and then you get all this divisiveness as a result.

I’m over war…if Ukraine has to give up a portion of its country to get peace, I’m fine with that…I honestly don’t know why we are so involved anyway (other than a proxy war with Russia) this should be Europes problem….with the US with inky very minor involvement.

I do make a point of trying to read both sides. Actually strongly considered voting Conservative in the provincial election we just had, mostly for Ford's strong stance against Trump. Underfunded hospitals and schools after 2 straight Conservative majorities made me vote Liberal this time. I did vote for Ford the first time around though. Not like it matters, my riding votes Conservative every time without fail and did again.

See for me its not Liberal vs Conservative, its whatever is best for us right now. There should be a balance and no party or leader should be in power for too long, its not healthy.

Trump transcends all of this though, he's not good for anyone without an 8 figure bank account, its just a shame so many have been fooled by him.

Trump deals gently with Putin and roughhouses Zelenskyy. He wants the mineral rights but won’t agree to defend Ukraine if (when) Russia violates terms.  Then he effectively says Ukraine has no leverage. Yeah, that meeting went as expected.

If Russia weren’t in POSSESSION of parts of Ukraine, then yes, I could see why Zelenskyy doesn’t want to “give anything up”. But that’s just not the case.

If the fighting stops now you would say Ukraine has lost. So if they’ve lost and are losing, then it seems a fair assumption that they stand to lose in the outcome of negotiations.

Keep in mind that of the $106B that has been sent to Ukraine, $33B has been actual money, $69B has been weapons and equipment, which is being re-stocked by American companies paying American workers. The rest has been humanitarian support. This is according to a CFR article from Sept. 2024

The days of unlimited funding, laudering, kickbacks, etc...

Are over.

Don't come here making noises about mineral deals as a prelude to peace negotiations, then act like a petulant little bitch.

The Ukrainian people deserve better.

Or at least the remaining ones who haven't been sent to slaughter.

End the funding for Israel too then?

And of that, it's not like it was all a big donation. A significant amount is loans.

Oh yeah.... I'm sure those will be paid back in full 🤦‍♂️

So it was equipment that supports jobs, cool, but that $69B still came out of our tax dollars.

I have a soft spot for Ukraine as that's where my family came from (great grandparents on my dad's side, grandmother on my mom's  - my maternal grandfather came from Belarus). So yes, I hope that Ukraine gets the support it needs. Zelensky has said that he'd resign if he's an impediment to peace. I wonder if that's something he should think about now (assuming there is an appropriate replacement). But even if you don't give two shits about Ukraine - and you don't have to - I don't think a lot of people on this forum appreciate the extent to which Putin is a bad actor. He believes that it was a tragedy that the USSR  fell, and he'd very much like to see it back, to the extent that that is possible. His expansionist ambitions are not in the West's interests now any more than the existence of the USSR was in our interests decades ago. So, even if you for whatever reason don't like Ukraine, this can be a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

The concern with negotiating with Putin is that a genuine negotiation requires parties to be acting in good faith. There is reason to doubt that Putin is a good faith actor. Cease fires and treaties don't mean a thing if there is a party involved that can't be trusted. Hitler signed a non-aggression pact with Stalin - then guess what happened.

None of this is to defend Biden's approach or to suggest that all funds sent there have been used appropriately. I don't claim to know much about that, and if there were serious fuckups and misappropriations, it wouldn't surprise me. But I have no doubt that Putin is in the wrong in this war, and he does not deserve to be rewarded for his aggressions. But I also live in the real world where sometimes compromises are necessary. It sounds like Trump genuinely wants to see peace. Whatever Biden was doing wasn't achieving that. I hope Trump can do better, without emboldening or unduly rewarding Putin. How to do that, I have no idea - and I get the distinct impression that nobody else in this forum knows either.
