What did you learn today ?

They say you learn something everyday. Share something you learned today that you didn’t know this morning.
Today I learned that the ambient air temperature sensor on my truck can trigger the check engine light to come on and cause you to fail a smog test, even though after resetting it and turning the light off it seems to read the correct temperature. Stupid me I thought it was just a convenience thing. So I bought a new sensor and now have to drive “75 or 80” miles before I can retest. The old sensor read 66°, the new one read 68°. How it knows it’s 68 and not 66 is a mystery to me ? Maybe it had a momentary fluctuation that was too big and caused it to throw the code ? Anyway my lesson learned today was the ambient air temperature sensor talks to the engine as well as letting me know what the outside temperature is. I truly thought it was just a luxury feature.

I sent a email to order components to be laser cut yesterday. I heard nothing back from them to say that my order is being processed.

I had to phone them now and the guy says he has just found my mail in his spam box....which is bullshit as I have been dealing with them for years.

Lesson....I have to keep reminding myself to always follow up a email with a phone call.

That yes, occasionally this place needs a flush. Maybe even a double flush and the fart fan on high.

Norovirus is contagious for up to 2 weeks. Symptoms come on in 12-48 hours of infection. All of my house except me got extremely sick 36 hours ago...

Maybe you’ve got that, “Herd Immunity”. My ex’s son and myself both had the ‘Rona, she never caught it. 🤷

I learned I didn't have cancer because the hospital posted the wrong bloodwork to my portal.

It was a 2-month ordeal and I'm not very happy about the mix up!

You're like Raymond H. Kessel from Fight Club.

Did your breakfast taste better today than it did yesterday?

(and congrats on the great news)

I learned an excellent way to get punched. I told my girl there are 206 bones in the human body. I then asked her if she’d like one more.🥊

Over the weekend I learned what I already kind of knew, but was cemented even further this weekend, is that side by sides have ruined what Ocotillo Wells used to be. They are the worst thing to happen to the off road community and riding areas that have ever happened. For multiple reasons. Fuck those things 😖

Yes, it’s the unfortunate evolution of dumb, drunk rednecks on quads.

Saw the handwriting on the wall for those things back when they first came out. Surprised they haven't gone the way of the three wheeler, environmentalists must be having heart attacks

I learned (confirmed) the contractors project manager with, all their years of school and, whatever degree they have, IS FUCKING USELESS WHEN IT COMES TO COMMON SENSE. It’s like bitch, how the fuck do you expect me to call this shit in when there isn’t even a permit on site!?!?! Three days was what it would take to plumb this underground. Three. First day was doing a material take off. Second day does not mean call in for fucking inspection when I’m 75% done and, the permit has yet to be issued. God damn people are stupid!!

Rant over. Happy Tuesday everybody 😂

Ooh …. I’m not sure how well I’d be able to deal with that. I deal with association board members once in awhile and they are the most aggravating individuals I’ve ever dealt with. Good luck

76,000 acres of OHV trails close to my house.

Everything from full on, double black diamond rock crawling, back down to easy trails, and moto singletrack.

SXS's have all but destroyed the moderate trails that 4x4's, daily driver's, and the moto guys use.

Everything is deeply rutted, where there used to be, fun multiple lines.

And they poach, and ruin the moto only singletrack.

Old school ATV's were cool.

Then came the sport quads to begin the destruction.

Now those damn things have come along and ruined and entire OHV area.
