What has bothered me with the current TV package, is the lack of really "Being at the races"

With that said, I have a new business model-

Yosmithy's MX reality Pack:

. I will arrive drunk
. I will over flow ever toilet in your home
. I will stand directly in front of your TV (with no shirt on) and scream wildly for no particular reason
. I will hit on your wife, daughter
. I will block your driveway
. I will bitch about the track layout
. I will pass out before the last moto

I'm still working on the pricing...

Ding! Ding! Ding! We HAVE A WINNER!!! I hate switching over to the broadcast on TV for the second moto. Do it ALL on the internet, then nobody has to worry if they get this channel or that channel. HDMI from my PC to my 55" Visio is great. As soon as it airs live, it should be easy to archive also. Youthstream gives you a low quality (but watchable) feed for free, or you can pay 1.99 for an HD feed. I'd pay that to watch a complete national from my couch.
Can you imagine the absolute HORROR of having to move your finger to the channel buttons of your remote?? What's this world coming to when us super-fit, active moto fans have to move an entire finger in order to watch a race on TV?

You forgot dropping the f bomb as a noun, verb, adjective and adverb in every sentence, regardless of who's around you.

I thought he covered that by arriving drunk.

"Good for the sport" who needs that anymore? Lets get back to racing. And if you can't appreciate sx & mx for how awesome it is without being packaged all nice and neat, then go watch something else.

There are too many overblown assumptions about how lucrative this sport is. It isn't, and it remains on a razor's edge financially.
since you know they are NOT making any cash on anything.....post up the numbers FTE.....OR you too can stand in line as another "guessing" what the real financials look like.

SOME guess they are making bank....thats why they fight so hard to keep it in their little hands......others, as you guess they are going broke? based on what?

I liked it better when I had to call the 900 number for race results.

It is pretty annoying that with how long the sport has been around and how many major sport networks there are we can't get 2 hours of coverage so we can see both moto's. Just saying.

Coverage of this sport has never been better and honestly, I'm not sure it can get better. Watch the first motos live on Alli commercial free and then catch the 2nd motos on tv in most cases same day, worst case next day? How does it get better? Sure beats watching the race the following weekend like we used to have to do. Moto will never be as big as the NFL, NBA, MLB or Nascar. This is a niche sport and we've got it better than we've ever had it. You get to dedicate Saturdays to watching moto all day and then you can go ride on Sunday. Yeah, this sucks.

There's a difference between being broke and breaking even and doing well and making a killing.

Who do you think is making a killing? And it can't be because they keep doing it.

Just my opinion, but a lot of the people who love MX and are invested in it would probably make much more if the energy and devotion they gave to a vocation in MX were applied to some other business. That goes for the riders right up the chain.

If this really was a lucrative business opportunity, some entity that doesn't give a rat's ass about sanctions and the AMA this or FIM that would jump in with enough money to buy in the best talent and run all the rest off to the side.

Maybe what I'm really saying is that I dont like cutting to commercial in the middle of a race, and that I'd be willing to pay a small fee (pay-per-view) to avoid that Wink

How many people in this country really care about MX the way folks on here do? People devoted to it week in and week out. Maybe 200,000? Not much more I bet. The networks are pretty damn smart enough to figure that out.

The free live first motos and next day/live second motos are great. I just wish they would film it all from ground level so it was worth watching.

I agree the ground shots give a much better picture on how fast these guys are really going.

Unfortunately I think to get more coverage from the ground they would need more cameras and in turn the cost would really escalate.

They can get a larger field of view (more of the track) using the scissor lift cameras .

If you could show up at my house with a current factory rider (probably injured) as well as a whole host of "core" fans who have no idea who this rider is it would REALLY make me feel like I'm at the races.

I've always thought this too (your last comment), but then I see some of the guys and the money they make and it makes me wonder...Bubba's worth, what, 30, 40 , 50 million? Reed 25 million? Even the "2nd tier" guys seem to live like kings (I was blown away by Ferry's house)...appears that there is some big money going around in some places....

The guys that make that kind of bank are getting it from sponsors that don't spend on anyone but the elite guys.
The guys like Ferry that are doing well have probably been smart with the money and around long enough to earn.
Let's not forget that a rider like Red Dog was no slouch on the bike so that translates to bigger coin.

I never remember that. I would much rather watch both motos on my t.v. too but the live coverage on the net w/ no commercials is pretty nice also.
What I dont get is the fact that the motos are NEVER re-aired on speed like other motosports. They might be here and there at 2 am, or someother bad time. I dont understand who the hell in their right mind wouldnt want to watch motocross on say a sunday afternoon. Is everyone a homo or what?

Sarcasm is a beautiful thing, even when played very subtly.

Unfortunately, tens of millions of people would rather watch something else than MX on Sunday afternoons.

This is 2010. The TV coverage still requires major work.

The coverage we are getting is better than ever - yet far from comprehensive and

far from satisfactory.

Imagine, please - showing 15 seconds of highlights of the first half of any sports

team's activities YOU love ? And then, bits and pieces of the second half. Exactly, it is

unsatisfactory.

We must not rest until we see a full two motos worth.

Anything less is settling. I won't stand for it and neither should you.

I don't know what to say, really. Two televised motos is the biggest battle of our professional lives. All comes down to today, and either, we heal as a team, or we're gonna crumble. Inch by inch, moto by moto. Until we're finished. We're in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And, we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time. Now I can't do it for ya, I'm too old. I look around, I see these young faces and I think, I mean, I've made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I've pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who's ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know, when you get old, in life, things get taken from you. I mean, that's... that's... that's a part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losin' stuff. You find out life's this game of inches, so is moto. Because in either game - life or moto - the margin for error is so small. I mean, one turn of the throttle too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite clear it . The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the moto, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that tv coverage. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that tv coverage. We claw with our fingernails for that tv coverage. Because we know when you add up all those inches, that's gonna make the fucking difference between getting one moto and two motos! Between living and dying! I'll tell you this, in any fight it's the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that tv coverage. And I know, if I'm gonna have any life anymore it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that tv coverage, because that's what living is, the two motos in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You've got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think your going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. Your gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this tv coverage, because he knows when it comes down to it your gonna do the same for him. That's a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's moto guys, that's all it is. Now, what are you gonna do?
8/1/2010 5:56pm

There's a club!? Man, nobody tells me anything.

Being downunder; I'm grateful to get one live moto. It's better than the one week delay we used to get.

That only the 2nd motos are shown on TV? Since when does an action sport website dictate how we get to watch our motocross? I know that Speed and NBC have and agreement with Allisports but what a dumbass idea. What was MX Sports thinking? Come on Davey... get it together. Please, lets rally for a change. I know I am not the only one out there who would like to see both motos on TV and not have to cut my only day to go riding short because I have to huddle around the computer to watch the first motos like a horny teenager staring at youporn. It's just flat annoying.

Also, while we are talking about the nationals, whose great idea was it to swap the motos around and have the 250s race last on the day? Isn't the point of the 250 class to be the stepping stone in the premeir class? It's my belief that the higher paid 450 riders should be racing on the track when it's at it's roughist. I just don't get it. Anyone feeling my concerns?
