“Not giving Russia a free pass”

What does that mean tho. I just want someone to tell me what they want America to do here.

Apparently the EU NATO countries want to attack Russia in a non NATO country and they want us to have their backs.

I mean US violated the agreement from 1994 along with the UK. Now Trump is talking elections and approval ratings.

He wants to replace the government in UA. He is solely deal making with Russia. Shame on him.

Thanks but if I need lessons in how the electoral process works in my own country, forgive me if I pass on taking them from some anonymous Kiwi on a moto forum.

But FYI, parties don't 'appoint' PMs, they elect a party leader who then runs in the general election.

Trump can't even say or acknowledge that Russia invaded Ukraine. Now he's commenting that Ukraine started the war.

Fucked up.

So it seems like Trump is turning his back to America's #1 ally, Europe, and giving Russia a free pass to go around invading countries and starting wars just because he wants to suck Putin's tiny wiener. This stuff is beyond absurd. See you in the trenches in 10 years boys, I live about 200 kilometers from the Russian border

Do you have a single legitimate point to share or did you just come in here to put your ignorance on full display?

200 klicks from the Russian border and you’re SO CONCERNED…?

Pick up a fucking rifle and join your brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Or not. Until then? I’d suggest you stop whining like a “would be victim” and do something.

I don't care for Russia or Putin.   However, there's really only 2 options at this time.

One: Trying to make peace and stop the fighting/death toll's with an agreement.

Two: If the US went in to clean house on Russia and their supporters over there.... It would escalate rapidly. Possibly to WW3 ....which would be a lot of lives lost and very costly.

It should be interesting to see how it all turns out.  Either option is a possibility and could happen.  However, having the US fight a full on war... Trump doesn't have the power for that...Congress has to approve it.

He's working the angle that wanting to join the west is what started the invasion. Unfortunately for him and Maga, there is no escaping the fact that Ukraine's desires were 100% legal and Russia's invasion is 100% illegal. That's just a bottom line that you cannot get around. Not even getting into the Christian morality of reasons to commit murder, or I guess I should say, the absence of Christian morality.

It's just such a drastic turn historically speaking, that it's really hard to understand the reasoning and true motives behind it. If Comrade Trump's peace plan goes through in any form even close to what's been stated publicly, it will start a completely new era in the world.

And I don't suggest USA should put boots on the ground or anything like that, but to step over Ukraine and Europe in the negotiations and to blame Ukraine for this war has echoes from the good old days of 1930's.

I'm not Ukranian, I will not go over there to fight. But I'm sure as hell ready to fight against Russia for my own country if the time comes, just like those before me have done many times.

And please don't talk to me about my ignorance, you probably wouldn't be able to show me Ukraine on the fucking world map unless daddy Trump didn't tell you about it lol

The only angle he's working is de-escalation and an eventual cease-fire agreement through intercession and diplomacy.  Whatever comments he makes and whichever way he works around to achieving that is up to him and his cabinet.  Remember, this wasn't an issue four years ago.

Jesus, for how frequently sheeple and narrative follower gets tossed around here, this post reads as “do not question the almighty, as he works in ways that you and I do not have the ability to understand”

Referring to Trump's angle suggesting that Ukraine started the Russian invasion, it comes from thinking that it started because of Ukraine wanting to join the west. It does have a degree of truth to it, like if someone says something rude to you and you hit them, technically that did start it, provided that "it" isn't specifically referring to the crimes, because only one of you would be a criminal.

I realize this wasn't an issue four years ago, but I don't subscribe to the belief that everything in the world happens because of the president of the United States. If that were true, then Trump had something to do with Covid and I guess he also has something to do with all the planes falling out of the sky, but that doesn't make much sense.

So if you are so concerned about it but aren't willing to go fight and it's only 200km away.... why the fuck should anyone in the United States even care at all?

Maybe we should just 100% walk the fuck away and let ya'll figure out your own problems.

To be fair, we all agree that Hamas should be eradicated, and really all Muslim extremists supporting terrorism should be eradicated, and I'm sure we all agree it's a big problem, but we're not over there in person doing anything about it.

Trump doesn’t think diplomatically; he thinks financially. Just like Putin. Trump will not unilaterally agree to lift sanctions w/o concessions, which can (and should) include Russian withdrawal from Ukraine. While somewhat nauseating, allowing Putin to save face could have the most immediate impact.

The US has leverage over NATO and Ukraine. We lack that leverage with Russia, hence Trump’s non-traditional approach. He wants the deal done now, and seems willing to bend a little to gain a lot. At least a lot in theory; Old Vlad can be as unpredictable as Trump, and significantly more violent.

Which is part of Trump’s argument…if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Besides that…

Where was Europe when the tanks first rolled across the Ukrainian border?

Where was Europe when Russia made it very clear: they were NOT gonna stand by & watch Ukraine join the western alliance?

And then they, Europe AND THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION… all …kept pushing and pushing and pushing.

So, now…we’ve got HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS DEAD & that war is still going on…and guess what? It’s been YEARS that this war has been going on. Years.

So, to LungButter’s point…

Tell us…what’s the significance of next Thursday…?

And what…of any significance…has EUROPE done about it?

Trump didn’t start this war; but, he is going to END IT.

It'd be a different story if they were 125 miles from our door step.  We can't exactly just hop a plane to the Middle East and start taking them out.

Not all of us can, but a lot of us could and we don't. And I get the distance concerns for sure, because I can't imagine war in Reno, it'd feel very different from war overseas. At the same time, WW1, WW2, war on terror....it starts creeping closer and closer when we've tried to stay out of it. Even the wars like Vietnam and Korea where they didn't creep closer to us before we entered, the broken window theory is legit.

You’re “not Ukrainian, so you won’t go over and fight” but America and Americans are not Ukrainian either and yet you want Americans to go over and fight? Or at the very least you want us to work and give our tax money away so the fight can continue? Sounds like you want trump to be your daddy since you want him to solve your problems for you with my tax money….That's my pragmatic response. Get with it dude!! Your real enemy is the system in place which rewards mans most base behaviors.

No governments, no states, no nations anywhere at anytime are or have been here for the working people. The State is set up to protect and increase the capital of the ruling class on the backs and labor of the working class.

Edit: BTW euroguy I am sorry for the situation in Eastern Europe and I do empathize with you. I just wanted to point out the obvious contradiction in your statement

They are cheapskates too.   Offering U.S. silent professionals $1,200 a month lol to come and fight.   One could make that in a 16 hour day driving a patrol boat around the Gulf Of Aden playing Cowboys & Indians with Pirates and the Houthis.
