Sorry if you have said before, but which brand do you represent? Not snarking, just saw you say “we brands…” so I’m curious.

Look at his profile pic. There's a hint at the brand.

I'm sure times have changed and your sales reflect the reality. However, this man's opinion, since we're being honest, is:

Best Thor gear ever:
2002Thor

Worst Thor gear ever, by an enormously large margin:
2025Thor

I didn't care for the Thor gear from last week but I have a feeling it will sell decently.

Not going to disagree on that Langston kit, I loved that season for THOR, so clean and the use of color was as pro as it gets.

We are really enjoying the beating we've been getting online / on podcasts since that Flite Mint / Copper kit debuted last weekend, it's been some comedy gold for sure. And that's ok, for every "worst kit ever" comment we've received, we'd gotten two more saying, "I need this in my life". It's one of the most polarizing pieces that we've created and it's been fun hearing people's reactions.

And before everyone jumps in with, "this is the end of THOR", take a minute to check out the other five kits that we released this week too 😉

Even though it was a one off.... the Pastrana lumberjack kit was the worst kit for me.

I heard  that Austin Forkner was wearing the new airbag system in Tampa. I'm pretty sure  they said he was the only one  wearing it on the  Pulp show Monday.  I don't blame some of the guys holding of on trying it out while its still so new to SX/MX. I bet it would startle you if it went off by mistake.

Yeah I'm pretty torn on the airbag in off road, for exactly the reason that you mentioned. I mean, Alpinestars (and others, spec. the company that provides the tech for several brands) has logged years of R&D into this product before coming to market and most of us have seen it in action in MotoGP, so I am 100% confident that they know what they are doing. But...I feel like I personally would ride more cautiously, and not in a good way, just waiting for the thing to pop. Might just be my own anxiety creeping in 😆

I'm with you on that. Did you see the segment about it on TV last weekend, wherein Jason Thomas wore one while they detonated it? Obviously, he was trying his level best to make it seem like a great product and a fantastic evolution in safety, but his posture and body language said it all. (Also, he said, "Wow! That was more violent than I expected.")

I'd hate to have one of those go off on me by accident.

I'm sure its something that You can get used to.

I wonder if JT got to practice that or they just did it in a single take?

I've seen some videos of rally racers having it save them and also having one go off by mistake.  I'm sure as they get more real world feedback and data they will improve and be better and better.

That would be a fun part of the industry to be in. Getting to find and test materials and build out concepts for new ways of keeping people safe.

Indeed, I never did the demo myself, but have seen it in person many times. That always seems to be the response 😂

Does anyone know, was that rider in the Dakar Rally this year, who ejected at high speed then got right up and kept going, wearing one? I assumed so, because the crash was so violent, but he remounted and carried on.

I could be off on this but I believe all riders are required to wear an airbag just like in MOTOGP so yep he was wearing it if that's true.

They have actually been collecting data on riders chest protectors since I believe 2018. I think for motocross especially they have it pretty well sorted and while I'm sure there is still some progress to be made for supercross, it's getting really close and Austin is only going to help elevate the algorithm.

Josh, I am SHOCKED nobody has brought up the cat gear yet 😆

I've actually been part of a couple live deployments like JT did and it definitely does suprise you because its unbelievably fast when it goes off.  I haven't crashed with one but know a million people that have and many times during the crash you don't even know it went off because with all the tumbling and violence of the crash many times you don't even notice.  Also I know they are designed to only go off on "big ones" so little tip overs and stuff it shouldn't go off.  I'm really interested to wear the MX version when it comes out this summer and I really like how it extends down and over the shoulder when it goes off.  I would like to see the option of a permanent shoulder protection without having to go to the full Off Road version as it's what the crazy ass rally dudes run and its pretty heavy and bulky and hot to wear. It has two cartridges vs one so that adds a bit to the weight and size so the single cartridge setup of the MX should be great.

Ahhhh…the KIT’N gear, the gift that keeps on giving, since 2018 🤘

Haha, you were the first one I saw demo that thing. Your look of surprise was timeless!

As much as I’d love to slam Alpinestars because $600 boots have soles made of cheese, no boot will prevent the injury that Eli sustained. I’m speaking from experience as I’ve broken a fib three times. Size 13 boots doesn’t help.

You guys wouldn't know ugly if you woke up next to it after a night of drinking at the club.

There it is! I'll take half responsibility on that one. We were in a designer's roundtable one day and the younger / edgier guy brought that graphic to the table as a half-kidding, "here's something silly I did" sort of joke. And just as he was sliding it to the round file, I asked him to pull it back, because we really had something loud, fun and annoying on our hands. Seven years on and we still get requests for replacement jerseys from time to time.

My favorite part was listening to a podcast ripping that graphic apart and one of the characters proclaiming that kit was going to be stuck on closeout racks for months to come. The hilarious part to me was that all units were gone within three weeks and I couldn't have sold him that kit at full retail if I wanted to, haha.

It's good for the health of our industry to not take ourselves so seriously all the time. Dirt bikes are fun!

Case in point. "Are dominant gear companies affecting safety advances?"

No. We're posting about graphics on a shirt.

That's what makes money. Not neck braces.

Proof positive of Max's professionalism, he sure navigated the best answer (Peppa Pig's dad) to that one 😂😂😂 I have yet to ask Max's thoughts on that directly, but when I do, I will demand honesty hahah
