Just trying to get riders point of view for the best neck brace. Lightest, most comfortable, best price, fits with chest protector.... I need one before i start getting real serious again

well i have the leatt gpx. the one above the adventure, but below the most exspensive, ive found it very comftorable, and works well with the thor sentinal chest protector. its pretty light too. and for 395 dollars its a life saver fer sure.

How much you wanna spend? Leatt is good till i did a wash out and crashed and it shattered my collarbone, sold it to my buddy and have the alpine stars bionic, it does nr ride on my collarbone like the leatt did But their both good if you can try them both on. leatt has more chest protectors that work well with it. my leatt i had a Thor quadrant and it was perfect no mods. have nt used the alpine stars yet Good luck!

Alpinestars neckbrace is much lighter & more comfortable than a leatt, in my opinion

I've had the Leatt Adventure, Leatt Club, and currently using the Alpinestars BNS.

I have to say, in all ways possible, that I find the Alpinestars brace the better. I shattered my collarbone with the Club, and the doctors agreed that the Leatt was most likely the cause, as it was a rare place to break the bone in, and theyve had two other patients claiming the Leatt caused it, which was broken in the exact same place, (I also googled for X-Rays by those who believe the Leatt caused it, and both had it shattered where I did.)

Now, I'd rather have a broken collarbone than a broken neck, but it sucked so bad and set me back a lot. A friend mis-ordered a Alpinestars BNS (because of the size) and I got it cheap, I have to say I love it! After I broke my collarbone I tried both on, and even having the Leatt on without strapping it hurt my collarbone as the tip of it was laying on the fracture. The Alpinestars goes directly over the collarbone without touching it, is smaller, more comfortable, better strap system, though it is very expensive. I say try the new Alpinestars (the white one)

I have a Leatt GPX as well.
I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs. After adjusting it properly, it fits me very well. When I'm riding I don't even notice I have it on.
I had a high speed high side last summer and did a pretty nasty face plant. I hit so hard
my helmet and goggles cut the bridge of my nose. I had a bruise between my shoulders where the brace was forced against my back. It did what it was designed to do.

I'd hate to see what would have happened if I wasn't wearing it.
Don't know much about the A star, but it looks like it's a good brace.

You can't go wrong with either one. imo

I have had the Leatt and liked it. I am in the market for a new brace and I tried on a alpinestars BNS and like the way it fit. I may get the alpinestars this time, it seems to be a little less restrictive.

I have the Leatt Moto gpx Club... very comfortable and a $395 price isnt too bad. Just make sure you get the right size, even though there are tons of ways to make it smaller/larger if/when you purchase one. I'm actually saving up to buy the new Moto gpx club II brace, since I've had mine for quite a while now Smile

Just take baby steps at first and don't rush into the pace you used to run, because I remember when I came back riding after 3 years off as well..... and from switching from an 85 to a 250f... big transition. Be safe, and go ride!

I've been wearing a leatt for the past year and it hasn't done me wrong yet. I never ever noticed it even from the 1st time wearing it and it fits great.

Does anyone know what the majority of "Pro" riders wear?
I only ask that as a Pro makes their living riding and has to mitigate any downtime due to injury and if the Leatt was linked to clavicle breaks (not usually serious but can ruin the season) they would avoid that style providing both braces offer comparable protection.

Does anyone here have a plated clavicle? If so what brand are you using?

Thanks,

I have used a Leatt for the last 3 or 4 years and only notice when it is not there, won't ride without it. For what it's worth the Astar looks like there is more room between the helmet & brace and most people comment that it feels less restrictive. I read this as allows more movement which is what the brace is supposed to stop. No one can say either way if this is true, just my opinion.

What about the german version of it, the Ortema Neck Brace:

Rather then transferring the force along the spine, it uses the shoulder blades.

I got mine just when it started getting sold about 3 years ago. Along with my Ufo Reactor 2 chest protector it's a great setup.
If I were to buy it now, I would get the cheapest Leatt version, though. The ones all carbon, like I have, seem to shatter when they break and you might risk getting cut. I wish somebody would produce a chest pro that also protects the lower back and works with the current neck braces.
