One of the greatest joys in my job is when I get called to a scene one of my guys is on because an entitled, “never been told no” twit demands a  supervisor, thinking I’ll take their side and throw my guy under the bus. Their reaction when I inform them that he has done nothing wrong and we don’t give people their way just because they’re unhappy with the outcome is priceless.

This was me in my 20s - 40s…dealing with a certain type of officer…officers that didn’t get that they were not “in-charge”…and almost always had no business inquiring about my crew’s op/mission…

My Brown Shoe Navy people loved it when some 0-4 or 0-5 would get in their shit about and/or stick their nose in one of our ops…said officers had absolutely “no say on, of or about” our op and usually weren’t even briefed on it…and yet, they’d get in my crew’s shit about something…and I’d have to get involved (test or development a/c and the necessary support crew and we’d be rather quickly and surprisingly deployed on a carrier or a base…usually for a very brief and extremely well funded, equipped and staffed interlude…usually in an “active theater”…) .

To PNWMXers point: You ALWAYS have your crew’s back and you ALWAYS remind certain types of officers/people/wannabe authoritative ass holes that they’re “Fucking with the wrong civilian…(the wrong guy)” and I almost always told them to see base command or the ship’s captain if they had any questions…if I had to go as far as show them orders, I’d make damn sure they were issued and ANVO to “stay the fuck off our watch”…they really hated that last part coming from a civilian in the correct “dress of the day” with absolutely no markings…it truly made them lose their shit; and, that was awesome!

You see, just like what’s goin’ on in D.C., we had orders from the boss…the NAVAIR boss…and all others could go fuck themselves. “Our boss has more stars than your boss.” 🤣

And our boss ALWAYS had our back.
