Building this bike for the RedBull day in the dirt. Totally roached out yz125x. My dad bought this bike 30 years ago and started collecting parts over the years. I took some pics that simulated the way he found it years ago.

Dig it, love the swingarm and jig, wish i had skills like that!
Thanks! I still have quite a bit to do on the swingarm. Very time consuming but a lot of fun.
Keeping a close look on this project 👌🏼
Sweet! Jealous of the skills too! Is that a custom swing arm rack with the clamps on it?

Incredible skills. This is fabrication at such a high level. Building your own swingarm and the other work. Wow…
Those forks….. Where in the world did you score those from. I haven’t seen those in years upon years… Brilliant adding those….
More info on the canisters. https://motocrossactionmag.com/forgotten-motocross-tech-what-were-speed…
Yea I made a jig off the original steel swingarm. Only difference is I lengthened the wheelbase by a 1/2 inch. So the middle of the axle slot on the new one would be all the way back in the original. I also angled the support tube to make room for a custom airbox. Instead of using the factory twin filter split one.
Thanks! I still have a lot to do to finish the swingarm. Hopefully work on it this week. The forks are pretty cool. Before my time. I was born in 83. I’ve had older guys tell me to not waste my time and put springs in them. So we”ll see after I ride it.
Cool build ! I had one of these back in the early 80s . Fun bike .
Thank you for that link. I felt really ignorant but was like WTF is that no whammy button on those forks
Got some more done on the swingarm. Almost ready for heat treat. I need to make axle blocks, axle and figure out the chain slider. Also will probably use a cable to work the rear brake. So that’s another thing to start thinking about.

Wow.
Messing around in the garage tonight. Just getting an idea of what it’s going to look like.
I like it! You mentioned a brake cable …not feeling the stock setup? Thinking ease of adjustment or performance would be better?
Yes I agree. I’m not sure if I can make it work because of clearance issues with the swingarm. I gotta make a new brake lever anyway so maybe I can figure something out.
Quite a wall of Wallys…. Impressive. The mock up looks good.
Back to working on the bike. Frame is powder coated. Still in mock up stage
Made the airbox out of sheet metal. Going to metal finish it. Then use it as a plug to make a mold, so it can be made out of carbon. Also working on the drawing for some billet triple clamps. I will 3d print those first to make sure they fit right.

Wow, very trick! Envies of your skills.
Pit Row
Thank you!
Awesome
Look up the air filter that Twin Air makes for the 78-80 CR250s. It replaces the airbox boot that are so prone to fall apart on those bikes. It has a built in velocity stack as part of the filter. Could be a good addition to that killer airbox.
Hey thanks for the heads up. I have never seen the Honda one. I have a 21 yz85 setup I’m trying to use but the Honda one may be a better way. I’m still in the process of body working the box to use it as a plug for the carbon mold
Color me impressed...massive skilz dude !
Twin air makes also for the RM250 79 an air filter with rubber flange, check It.
Great work with your YZ man!
Getting closer on my billet triple clamps. I did a 3d print of the top one to make sure it fits before I start machining. Uses modern bushing style bar mounts. 1 1/8 bar

Man , that top clamp is awesome ! Cant wait to see it in finished product
A little progress. Received my pipe from Geoff Morris concepts. He did a great job
That pipe is sick! We will need a video to hear that pipe sing! Very nice build.
Took a cr250 silencer and modified it
Curious to hear how it runs with the lectron carb.... should be interesting.
