Did they lengthen the uphill double at Millville this year? I was watching the 450 on DVR yesterday and I thought Emig mentioned something about making some of the jumps bigger this year. He was saying that as they were coming over the uphill triple. So I was curious if that also applied to the uphill double.
The reason I ask is because the 250s were struggling to clear it this year. I don't remember it being that bad last year. Or maybe they made that little shelf before the face of the double different. Whatever they did I'm sure at least 90% of the 250 class riders are sore from casing that jump all day. Even in the 2nd moto the factory bikes were struggling to clear it.

Good thing we didn't have to do that big double at the very end of the track by the downhill on amateur day eh Huck?

There were so many close calls on that jump in the 2nd 250 moto it was unreal. I've never seen so many almost get jumped and/or case a jump. The medical guys/flaggers standing there were on their toes for sure.
Another thing I noticed, is the track seemed to be more "supercross" than in years past. Singles going into a lot of corners, and a lot more split sections. Like before the whoops. And when Metcalfe started to triple in during practice, they added another bump to stop him from doing it. Why when one rider finds a sweet line, do they try everything so he loses the advantage?
I thought Emig was going to shit himself when he saw the first guy to it.
I think you're right about the shelf. It killed all the momentum they had after the corner when they would leave the ground.
jaeckle: I was trying to explain to my wife how steep those hills are while we were watching it last night. You can't. It also sucks to run out of beer when you're clear up at the top of them. They finally put bleachers up there this year. How about next year a beer tent???
Speaking of beer. Did anyone that took a vehicle in through the main gate to camp get searched this year? I know I didn't. Neither did anyone else we were with. In fact I saw guys walking around with cans of beer by the track on race day. Has Millville changed their policy?
A lot of folks put in some serious work to hide the beer, for nothing...hahaha
I was never searched...or even asked about anything. I still checked my firearm in with them though....
So next year they'll be able to collect all kinds of alcohol at the gate.
Pit Row
No beer searches this year, I heard from a track source that they were going to try it out and see how rowdy things got. I went with the "dummy" six pack in the fridge (miller lite) that I was willing to lose, and hid the good stuff (summit and surly) deep in the camper.
We got to ride over that shelf in the whoops on Sunday. I can't imagine jumping it, not only are you landing in the whoops but there was a pit before the takeoff from everyone braking. Amazing.
Speaking of Sunday, man was that awesome. Hardly anyone rode. I put 3 hours on my hourmeter, obviously not all on the track. The track was mint after about the first hour, and the weather was cool until about 3pm. Track was the same as the amatuer race, except we got to do all the whoops. They broke it into big bike / mini, then into AB/C-VET/Mini.
As far as taking away a line that aguy is doing, if one guy is doing it, everyone will soon follow. If it's unsafe, you don't want all your top guys HAVING to jump something nutty. You say you don't "HAVE" to, and I say, they do because they are paid to win... at all costs.
