Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
You're not alone, this is the reality.
Example. Starbucks entry level barista pay in Utah 2016 was $9.25 plus tips. Around 2018 it went to $10 and then to $11 a year or so later. Now it exploded to $15 around 2023. Not state mandated. The supervisor pay, also hourly, went up with it to around $19. Store Managers (middle class) did not see increases anywhere near that % amount. DM level (middle class) maybe got a cost of living raise of 3-5%.
That is a real world example, but when labor costs rise, so does everything else. "Raising the floor" literally does nothing since now the lowest wage earners also have to pay higher prices for everything they use. $15 an hour is nowhere near a "living wage", whatever that means.
If you want to earn more, taking on added responsibility or producing more is the way it happens. Paying people more to do the same job outside of annual increases etc is a recipe to lose.
Parking? Not sure that all aligns with above, but related. It's also a consumer demand issue like bottled water in the stadium being $7. If people will pay it, they will charge it. Also, think ablut how many days a year those spots are empty with nothing happening at the stadiums. They have to capitalize then the opportunity is there.
In my lifetime, and it’s long, All the motorsports I’ve liked, have gotten more expensive for the consumer, even parking. For things to grow and attract more investment, people only come in when they can make money.
$50 at Anaheim, $40 at SD last night. Midweek we had a Disneyland trip and it was $40. Next weekend at A2 will be another $50.
$180 for parking over a 14 day stretch.
having a load of grandkids with me I did appreciate the option to buy a cool SX drink cup that had free refills all day/night. Well worth the extra $$ and the kids loved the cups they took home
Growing the sport means two different things when it's the promoter vs the community
To us, it means more riders at your local track and trail, buying new bikes (used doesn't add much) etc.
To a promoter it means more revenue at the show. And they don't (not entirely) care if these ppl ride or not. I know more ppl who I invites tk go to sx, and enjoyed the show, and less who said I need to do this too and bought a bike.
The sport needs to target kids more and make jt more accessible to them, and in turn make it easy for a parent to join them in the fun. But the market has been dwindling since the 80s and in the last 10 yrs mountain bike segments have grown and especially the UTV market.
20yr ago A casual riding family used to buy 3-4 bikes (mostly trail like xr) but now they splurge for a 40k 150hp utv that the whole family can ride in together with less risk of injury on top

Been going to A-1 for the last 30 years. This year was the 3rd time I missed it. But this year was different, as I chose not to go. Prices and crowds are increasing and so is my age. I did A-1, Phoenix and SLC last year. This year I’m just going to watch from my couch. Due to my health I don’t think I could live much longer having to eat that stadium food. I used to drink enough beer to kill any parasites in that food but not when beers are $16. Was going to rob a bank and do multiple races this year but Walmart was out of ski masks. Plus my shitter is clean and nobody pissed all over the seat.
Was watching on the broadcast Lurch was standing by merch truck. 50$ t shirts and 110$ hoodies. Wtf in the world coming to.
Macklemore predicted this shit back in 2012.
Truckers pay 18-35 to park that’s 7 days a week. 8 bucks 4 a gal of water in the ne. Pa. Trnpk 500 ne bridges 175-300 , oh. In. Aprox 350. It was 30 bucks we avoid the tolls backroads r a bitch tho. Some pilot showers r 25 for the last 4 yrs , cheap turkey sandwich 7.50 , 17.99 on jersey trnpk tint too. 24.99 in Boston 4 a sandwich. I drop just under 70 bucks for cold sandwich’s . You eat more when it’s below zero too. A lot crappy 223.00 a day even 320.00 is nothing out here. There’s other expenses scale tickets , oil, supplies, etc. I don’t think 50 for parking is outrageous, your at a sporting event . Most spectators r white collar ‘& they can spend 1k & not miss it. NFL fans laugh when they only hv to pay 1,500-2k a night 2 night minimum in gb. Most fly in on leer jets every inch of the tarmac is covered with them. The parking price will keep going up you paid 10 in 97 & 50 now. 70 to 90 then 95.99 , 99.99
Then 110.00 . Park off the property & your vehicle is busted into, stolen . I had a tank of gas siphoned in Milwaukee at a AX.because they didn’t hv expensive parking. . Going to a nfl game for most people is just bragging on how much money they spent. Luxury sky boxes to watch a sx race oh yeah we had catering & a few servants . Ah you should hv saw the good, etc. they never watch the race & can’t dven here the bikes. These people r the ones that shoot the prices up.
Local clay oval stock car racing i10 bucks for a ticket. 40 cars with 900 hp drifting side by side scraping . That was in upstate Ny. Wi. Has a ton of stock car tracks cheap too. Worlds fastest snowmobile drags fastest accelerating sport , cheap to attend . And will blow your mind more than any Motorsport 168 mph in 660 ft, 190 mph in 800 or 1k ft.
