Hmm, both black springs. Same manufacturer?

not sure on that but when i called the suspension company they said they stopped using that spring company "from back east" because of this

i will have to call my buddy tomorrow and see where he got his spring

mine has no lables or numbers on it other then the spring rate ENGRAVED on the end

Seems sketchy. Obviously not a stock spring.

The only companies I know of that make black springs are Eibach Moto-Pro and Cannon Racecraft.

Eibach is the closest to OEM quality ... and neither company is from back east. I doubt it is Eibach but if it is they will replace it.

I would suspect it's cannon racecraft.. They are enticing for suspension shops because they are cheap but they are shit for quality both in rate and durability.

I know of two or three springs that looked awful similar to that one that did the exact same thing last year.

"spring company from back east" = MFG in China (would be my guess)

I had a set of fork springs from Motoworks do that. One fork leg was damaged and needed to be replaced. Now I buy springs from Race Tech, Factory Connection or OEM.

I was riding my buddies crf250 one time, and that happened. Probably because I shred the gnar so freakin hard!

Shitty spring quality
You can see where it had been cracked for a while, just look at the rusty area around the outside of the coil.

Worm: Defects can occur in any process, but I know Eibach controls their heat treatment (oil bath) in house and their QC is top notch.
