Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only insane person out there. I'm 36 and have had all my real injuries in the last 12 years. Broken pelvis, fib, tailbone, torn MCL, vertigo from a lick on the head, five concussions or so (life long), three ribs in 2000, four ribs and a collar bone in 2008, T-5 and T-6 vert in 2002, 9 ribs, collar bone, scapula,T-5 again in 2009. That last one I spent a week in the hospital. Three of those days were on a ventilator.

Never had it cross my mind to quit. In my 25 years of racing I really haven't spent that much time injured. I'd never missed more than two days work for any injury until last year.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm being unfair to my family but they seem to be okay with the fact that this is my life.
Man that's a long list. We're going to have it rough when we're senior citizens.

On another note.........are those external fixators 100% necessary? Under what circumstances do the docs choose external? When I broke my tib/fib one doc wanted to do an external but I said no and had another doc look at it. He put a rod on the tib which still left it spaced apart too much to heal. His plan was after 3 months to take the 2 lower pins out and the bone would drop down with my weight and close off and heal. It worked perfectly. I remember hearing him say there's always a way to do it internal but I see so many moto people with external. I just know that would suck bad.

There's a lot of ruined dudes here. I just have a few broken bones and payments of their reminders.

I learned after the first large bill, plastic is what we are racing for. Plaster should not replace plastic.

good god after seeing the pictures and list of injuries I'm thinking about selling my bike and taking up bocce ball or something. The only worthy injury I've had is a seperated shoulder. I don't ride the track much and ride somewhat cautiously on the trails....want to be able to have all my limbs and body functions to play with my daughter.

Ruptured left ACL from moto...

Broken thumb and torn right AC joint from street bike get off...

Neither of these were anywhere near enough to deter me from riding moto or street.

I don't ride a whole lot outside of my comfort zone though...

my favorite crash wasn't even mine....
a buddy was drunk and riding his Z50 in a Shriners parade and did a wheelie and ended up crashing into a curb head bleed like a firehose with 100's watching and got a police escort to the hospitol, only had 4 stitches in his head and a concussion !

At ponca one year I got hurt in my last race of the week. I was lined up at the gate in the middle. I got a shitty start and was heading into the sweeping left hand turn when a kid hit me from behind, and launched me over the bars. I stuck my arm out and popped my shoulder out of socket when I landed. The head of my humerous was stuck in my armpit, and spider cracked none the less. We tried to pop it into place with no luck, too far out. The worst part about the situation was a chinese kid crashed in the same race and had a subdural bleed so the hospital in ponca had their hands full with him. I layed on the hospital bed for about 45 minutes with my arm out while they attended to him. Finally the doc reduced my shoulder and all the drugs they pumped me full of were finally felt. All I was saying was, mother ****er who ever worked on my should is the %$##ing best. That was the beginning of the end to my racing days. 5 years of racing only one broken bone, plenty of concussions but never broke anything until then.

I hairline fractured my wrist the 2nd time ever on a 125 while racing my old man on a chopped out logging road. Was going 5th gear wide open and got speed wobble. Guess i got lucky?
Then two months later, my first ride back, I was rolling a 25 foot table taking it easy when some spode landed on me @ sir. Woke up on the ground w/ 3rd degree burnouts on my lower back.
Thats it though besides dislocating my shoulder, and blowing out my knee, and some other stuff.
I keep riding because its fun though.

I broke my wrist a few years ago. Other than that and a few scrapes and bruises I've been pretty fortunate.
