DATE: March 15, 2008
SUBJECT: 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship.
Effective immediately please note the following rules changes. Developed in consulta-tion with Live Nation, these changes are intended to provide a safer and more competi-tive riding environment during timed practice and also provide qualified riders for the du-ration of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship:
Intentionally stopping on the race track during timed practice is prohibited. A rider found in violation of this rule will have their fastest lap of that session removed from the official results. A stoppage on the race track resulting from a mechanical issue or a fall down will not be considered intentional. The Series Manager or his designee will make the determination to whether or not the stopping was inten-tional.
Any designated Lites class rider choosing to move up to the Supercross class in the 2008 season will be permitted to return to the Lites class in the 2009 season regardless of his overall placing in the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship class standings.
For the remainder of the 2008 Supercross season, any rider who currently holds an AMA Motocross license, that does not meet the licensing requirements listed in the 2008 AMA Supercross/Motocross rulebook for a Supercross Lites or Su-percross class endorsement will be allowed to petition the AMA Supercross Se-ries Manager for a Supercross Lites or Supercross class endorsement. Riders choosing to do so must currently hold an AMA Motocross license and be able to prove their ability to compete. This may be accomplished during practice at a Supercross event. In order to compete in the Supercross class a rider must also complete the FIM licensing requirements.

That there says it all. The promoter is running the sport and it's rules, not the people that are supposed to be.
The bob will not be happy, but what else is new.
You should be all for that, Who do you think the FIM takes orders from in the GP's ? Luongo is the boss period.

Proof?
Evidence?
I also notice, that it says these are the rules for "2008". Exceptions made for star (Dungy) riders.
Guess it will be back to stupidity for next year.

Prove I'm wrong
There is no burden of proof on Motodrive.
Everything that lazy fat ass did was wrong...

There's lots of eligible riders. If you'd made the night program over the last few years, you got grandfathered in.
Supercross is not a racing version of Logan's Run
The problem is injuries and money.
Sponsor dollars are tight, fuel prices are through the roof.
There are plenty of riders eligible, plenty
They just decided not to for one reason or another

So you admit to making it up
Cool

So how does that explain all the riders that show up for the lites class and not the supercross class? Are there 20+ injured supercross racers, is the purse not increasing enough (keeping up with inflation/expenses, etc) to keep the interest in the older riders?
A look over the past, and it seemed about the same over the years as far as entries goes. Some good years, some years about the same as now. Even though, they didn't change the rules mid-stream back then to get more riders to show in one class or another.
Just silly, really.
I admit you can't prove I'm wrong
dungey went from B to pro....the A riders are washed up locals...try and keep up!
I'm glad they did it.[/quote:3gxq40o5]
Totally. It's too small of a sport and times are too tough to make rules that keep people from racing the premier class.

I admit you can't prove I'm wrong[/quote:14rzj5ay]
Jay, how do you prove something that doesn't happen?
Prove a negative, a non-existent?
You just hate YS so you make shit up, just admit it
Seems to me the accuser should have to prove his accusations, right?
Those are your words not mine.
BTW : Saying Luongo calls the shots doesn't mean I hate Youthstream or FIM , it's just the way I was told it works by more than one person.
The ability to change things and take new directions on the fly is the very thing that makes the most successfull companies rise above the fray. Its a great way to operate as long as basic principles are adheared to and the direction they take is generally forward. I think it clearly shows they DO know what to do and that is to do what it takes to make things right. Of course its only one mans opinion.
[b:m8zk00n8]No more practicing your starts after timed practice begins.[/b:m8zk00n8]
If they go back to the old way of having day qualifiers, it gives guys more track time, more experience on a real sx track. Some guys need more time to dial in a track than just two timed qualifiying practices. Did guys like Ryan Clark just forget how to ride a bike? Take the factory sponsored guys out of the arguement, look at the guys without the private tracks. Those guys need more time on the track. Friday practice wouldn't hurt either.
