Just wanted to see if there's anyone out there who owns one of these bikes or used to race one back in the day. I've always loved the look of them that year, and i'd love to get my hands on one some day and race pre96 in vmx and the odd modern race day (sadly they're quite hard to find where I live) I'm not fast enough yet to blame the bike, so i'm not really fussed about little gripes and grumbles that it had, I'm just interested to find out some more about them
.
.
The only problem is Yamahas of this era were not very durable. Lots of little things broke and wore out fast. Also these frames stretched fast and cracked easily. If you get one, watch for the headtube/downtube area.
That era was so bitchin'...Bradshaw was the man.

Hello there, im curently working on one , but very bad shape i had to go to the roots....even frame was cracked on pair places (welding repair
)..Have removed all old paint from the frame....The preowner had it black😍🤯...Just checked engine top end is new and very good shape wich is good..front forks to be done yet(need new oil and sealings)....I think in chesterfield team colours from 1992 is the best looking bike ever...I will hang some pictures tomorrow...
I had a 1992 KX 250, rode a 1992 YZ 250 and felt it was a much better bike in every way.
I had one. Great bike! It was amazing to me how good that bike was and how bad the 125 was at the same time. The contingency money was nuts then, too. We were making $500 to win the C class and they paid back to $100 for 5th.
Had the 91 and it was a good bike but liked the 90 model better. To me the 91-92 just felt sluggish compared to my 90 and then 94 yz 250.
I have an 89 YZ 125, same ergos. Peg to seat feels very small, I’m 5’8 so really no issues but if you are tall it might feel goofy. Respring it if you get one, old bikes are very soft. With proper springs it will do very well on modern tracks.
Also I’ve always felt that Yamaha durability was great, I beat the hell out of my original 89 YZ when it was brand new, got two seasons out of it and the only failure was the CDI box. Also had a 90 YZ 250 for a season back then, the only issue I had was a circlip taking out the top end but that was my shitty mechanical skills.
They did not feel fast but initial reesonce made it ultra competitive . I had the Kawi and it was faster with better suspension. The Yamaha handled better.
