I took the advice of an ex track owner(the one that happens to be in this thread) when I made my purchase. Now if I could just figure out how to get the time to travel to all of the races like he does.

Hopefully in 30 years I will own this second home. I couldn't get them to stretch it to 40.
I about shit when the guy told me...you can finance this for up to 30 years... lol I told him, this thing will be worth $2.50 in 20 years....let alone 30!!

Really? So, if Doug Dubach, Ping, Ryno, McGrath race, they shouldn't race the plus classes, they should still have to race only the pro level races?

If a couple years ago I was riding all the time and riding B...then took a few years off, you don't think that I will have "lost" some ability?

Did I forget how to ride? NO

Did I lose some stamina? Yes

Did I lose corner speed? Yes

Did I lose ability? Yes

If not, then why do the pros practice all the time.

Shit, maybe you're onto something...they should just show up to the races, since they didn't forget how to ride.....

Yes, I'm aware of that... lol At 37, I am baffled as to why there isn't a +35. It's the only age class that is not there from 25 until 60!!!! lol Every other year has a 5 year age break.

I just don't want to get in the way of the intermediates.
Dont feel bad huck, I lined up in the Intermediate at Rio not too long ago and got my butt handed to me. I just didnt feel right signing up in the Novice, but there was a big difference in speed between the two classes. At least nobody can say Im sandbagging for a piece of plastic.

So you don't think that riders need to practice to maintain their level of speed? You think Andrew Short can take off 2 years and only ride 2 or 3 times and will be the same speed he is now?

Hey Huck, I'll be parked in spot #47 in the front yard just past the big shop. Winnebago brave and a white trailer with a couple of green #87's and a blue #11..

Stop by and say hi. I'm also usually working in the sign up building too. Look for a slow, looking old +45 guy...

We're getting in Monday afternoon, and staying for the long haul.

Maybe we can throw some dirt on Raddad in practice!

Post up some names...I hate going to somebody's trailer saying..."is SC961 here?". lol PM me if you must...

Everything at Millville get's bigger the closer we get to national week.......

2 or 3 years ago they hauled in over 2000 loads of new sand... I remember barely being able to get through the whoops by the creek.. That was nasty until it wore in some.

I still can't comprehend how those guys racing on Saturday can go so damn fast....

never said that either, but to answer your question, Andrew Short would not be as fast as he is today, but he wouldn't be dropping down to the B class either...

Exactly!

My buddies and I had a friend that was a local pro back in the day.

We would talk him into coming out to the track or trail ride 1-2 per year, and that's it. He would gear up, spin a few easy laps, then proceed to spank everybody! Then he'd go back to the truck and change, and that's it, done for the year.

Fast guys are always fast.

When I hurt my left knee, I did the surgery and took two years off and raced a sprint car for a change. It didnt take long and I got the itch to be back on a bike and I came back on a 250F. When I finally got back to the woods, after a few spins thru the trails to get acclimated to the new bike itself, I actually found myself going faster than I did prior. Of course the fitness wasnt there and I couldnt go fast for as long, but I was hanging with friends who race Expert in scrambles and I was sticking with them. Surprised the hell out of me for sure (them too)

The only thing Ive noticed with me since Ive gotten over 45, is that I still 'know' how to ride, but after extended time off the bike, it takes about half a day before my head and muscles get in sync. Meaning, everything isnt truly 'clicking' at first and Im not totally in the zone. It usually takes til after noon before Im finally getting stuff all working together.

Which is why I said that I will evaluate my level after the first day.

I'd rather finish last and battle with somebody the whole time in B, than walk away with the C race...

BTW, the reason you were going faster is because you were on a 4 stroke... ;-)

You are right, the thumper did make me faster. But I honestly was surprised how well I did for being off a bike for 2 years, it was like the break actually did me some good. LOL (slow as I am I need all the help I can get)

Now in moto, I suck and got schooled in the Intermediate. Hell I can remember racing the Novice class at the 2001 4-Stroke Nats at Cycle Ranch, and the top 3 guys in my class were jumping the uphill triple right before the catchers mitt bowl turn. I was like WTF ? Triples in the C class?

For me the BS-session in the pre-staging area is worth the sign up fee.

Especially on the practice day. I usually see old friends and meet several new ones.

We will be first in line Thursday morning, unless we can leave town in time to get in the gate before the 10pm curfew Wednesday night. Depends on our work load.

This is sounding fun! Let's meet after Thursday practice. 5pm some place is cool.

I am supposed to practice around here this Sunday. If I survive that day, I will pre-register, at the deadline, for the 50+ and 55+ class.
They usually combine us with 45 something and/or the Women, so hopefully I can dice with with some of you.

My name is on my bike and my body, so when I crash they can match us up: Jim Johnson
So, say "Hey".

I thought Huck would have a thread going but couldn't find it a couple days ago. Glad to finally find it. It's been 2 or 3 years since I have been there and I am ready see a national again.

I think the last time I was there is when the band night was cancelled saturday night because of rain. And the party ended up moving up by where the motorhome I was in was at. People jumping in the ditch filled with water and the cops showing up to break it up. Cops doused with water, people getting arrested, oh the memories.
