Thanks for firming up what I was thinking on the options for the stem tool...I double checked on my measurement and it's 195mm which makes the threaded or the lite versions being the options available for the stock moro05 stem.  The threaded option involves paying for a tap to thread the frame stem hole...not crazy about that but then the lite version is more limited on what you can jam into it due to being smaller.  Plus , doesn't look like the lite version has that cool "oil slick" coloring as an option.

I hear you. I personally would not have done the threaded kit, if my fork wasn't compatible. So I certainly can't blame you there. As far as the EDC lite, I agree you are a bit limited with colors or what it can hold but still not a bad option. Even on my threadless kit, only a small ring is exposed of the oilslick finish. So it's kind of minor for what it is worth.

If I had a base or 05 I would be more motivated to upgrade the suspension.  I should've clarified that in my prior response about upgrades. I think the Pro and 07 suspension is pretty good and not critical to change. 1 nice thing about the Rockshox stuff is it's pretty easy to dial. I have the Elite Fox (Grip 2 etc) stuff on my Specialized and you can sometimes chase the setting. It took me a while to get it where I liked it. But it's good stuff. Just my opinion.

There is 1 thing you can do on the Rockshox stuff, if you don't want to go with a whole new fork. They make internal upgrade kits to make the forks all very close to the top of the line Rockshox fork. So you can buy the dampener and air spring internals and easily mod the fork for cheaper than a new fork. Just another alternative.

Just catching up on this thread, gotta say that I'm pretty pleased with myself. I'm glad I could give so many guys the heads up to get on the eMtb bandwagon for a good price.

I'll have to get pictures of my bike but I've made or am making quite a few upgrades already. I installed my carbon bars and Renthal stem. I got an adapter off eBay so I will be able to mount my carbon rims with the CushCore inserts. I bought a Fox 38mm FloatX fork and a Fox FloatX shock both with the Kashima coating. Finally my wife got me the Renthal pedals for Xmas to replace the composite pedals I bought. These things are super beefy looking and very light, I call them man jewelry.

Things yet to be upgraded are the crank arms because I'm going shorter to minimize pedal strikes and brakes because I'm deciding between the MT7 Magura set or the full set of SRAM Mavens. I'm leaning towards the Mavens. After the brakes I'll be looking to add the Fox Kashima coated wireless dropper and then the SRAM AXS wireless groupset.

The shock measurement is 210x55 and it looks like it's backordered now.

I bought a Moro 05 in medium. I did buy my stuff from Jenson. Fork prices have gone up 50 bucks since I bought so they might be running low.

If I'm being honest a big reason for upgrading was for the Gucci Kashima coating so I would have had to upgrade the 07 if I got it. My biggest concern was the latest motor. The upgrades are part of the fun.

Totally understandable. The coating looks beautiful and really pops on the bike. I was just giving my opinion on what I felt are common upgrades that make sense for most people. On the Pro or 07, the suspension is pretty decent. And like I said, the internal upgrades from Rock Shox are a great way to upgrade for a reasonable price. I like my Fox stuff too, but I just don't feel like it's a must-do upgrade, at least on the higher models.

As far as the 2 motors, I found it to be a non-issue. Having ridden both a decent amount, I feel like 1 doesn't feel better than the other (in terms of output.) The gearing is a bit different but I don't prefer 1 over the other. The smaller size of the newer one is the biggest positive, but I prefer the electronics on the old one. Regardless, both generations are covered by the same warranty, so that calmed any fears for me about the prior gen.

Yeah that set up fee is crazy. I watched one be set up in less than 20 min. Handlebars, front wheel, and seat are the only things you have to install. Maybe they will just sell it to you in the box?

Check the posts a page or two back and start making phone calls. Some dealers will not ship, so it's just a matter of hammering the internet for Yammie dealers and making calls.

Thank you for the info, I just ordered both, forks from Jensen and the shock from Thunder Mountain. Can't wait to get them and give it a ride.

I ended up going to another dealership who didn’t charge any set up fee. Just picked it up today.

Five Star Powersports in Duncansville, PA has one Moro 05 and 2 Moro 07’s in stock that I saw today. They only charge sales tax. Ebensburg Yamaha has a regular YDX Moro (the yellow one) and some 05’s left as well. I don’t know if either will ship though. It’s worth a phone call to see.

For those looking to upgrade your 05s, go to the Facebook group Yamaha YDX-Moro Riders. Bunch of people have upgraded the 07 forks because they have a bunch of extra money since the bikes were cheap…and are trying to sell the take offs

My first ebike is a Levo comp alloy. It’s not the top of the line specialized by a long ways and I upgrade my fork to a fox factory 38 because It’s harsh on fast choppy bumps. I’ve chased clickers and air pressure settings and didn’t notice much improvement. First ride on the moro pro I couldn’t believe how much better it was on the bumps. One trail I normally avoid because of the big tree roots on my levo is fun now. That fork cost 1/2 as much as I paid for the moro pro. At least it looks cool.

Yeah I had the fox factory stuff on my first tazer and thought it was pretty good.  When I got the MX pro with the Ohlins I quickly learned that suspension sucked 😆

I have a Tazer MX Pro as well. The Ohlins are a superb set up on this bike. You need to dial it in pretty carefully, but it's some of the best stuff I have ever ridden once this is done. The fork responds very good to slight pressure changes and who doesn't love a good coil shock? Nice thing about the MX Pro is, you only need to put on decent pedals. Everything else is top notch on the bike. The dual crown fork is what I really dig. Wish more manuf offered this.

I know it doesn't do any good right now, but I do have the Rock Shox upgraded air chamber and damper internals to put into mine. But I'm just waiting for a weekend to have a maintenance day at my buddy's house, as he has a nice little work shop to work in, as part of his house. So eventually I will be able to give a review on that, but it might not be until March or so, for anyone interested in going that route (instead of a new fork.) But again, with the Revelation fork (05 or base yellow) I would be more inclined to swap to an upgraded fork .The Yari or Lyrik (Pro and 07) it's not really needed for most people. But you can do the internals to either of those, as I am,  or obviously swap to something else if you choose.

Ebensburg (near Altoona PA, 3 1/2 hrs from me) will ship. I was talking to them and the gave me a price of 280 ( I think ) to ship. Ended up finding one 1;15 from my house though and picked up that one instead a month ago.

As usual I am always a day late and a dollar short. I just started reading up on these bikes and came across this thread. One of these Yamahas would be a perfect fit and price for me. Are any deals still out there? I am in Camarillo, CA and love something close to support a local dealer but would also be open to shipping one to me.

if not one of these any suggestions for something similar in the $3,000 range?

Maybe check dealer in jtmaster's post or see if St. George moto dealer listed earlier in the thread still has units (in Utah I believe).

Someone posted earlier that Intense Tazer models go on big sale in Feb.  Specialized supposed to do same in near future as they release new generation models.  Local moto Tazer dealer wasn't aware of bigger discounts coming, but he focuses mostly on Gas Gas/Husky models now.

Jenson USA has some models they carry on mark down.

Good luck!

Mooch, i wouldn't bother with the EDC Lite. I have had two and I don't use them anymore. Better off just throwing the tool in a pocket or strapping it to the bike with a tool. I have had the tool fall out in a crash and my stem would constantly need to be re-tightened.

I was able to find a YDX-Moro 05 L at the Edensburg Yamaha others have mentioned and they are willing to ship. Talked to Devin and he said they have more available.

Congrats - I think you'll enjoy it.  Waiting for the cold front here in the midwest (-2 to 17 today) to break so I can get out for some time on ours.

Thanks, been a long time since I had a bike, so I am looking forward to getting outside more this year. Will now have to find all the goodies that go with one (helmet, shorts, etc.)  Been looking at bike work stands today so trying to decide which one to get.

Damn you Vital costing me more money Smile

Just bought this one from Amazon and it works great for our bikes

I like that the footprint is somewhat small for this type of stand and it has the little work table with it
