Nice ride on the Giant!
I’m not clear on what you mean
“ Wilmington price of $1800 was for 5 model (not the Moro as I thought).“
The Moro 05 is the only 05 bike I know of
The Yamaha site shows the Moro in YDX, 05, 07, and Pro models. The YDX is yellow (not sure if other colors)and is on sale for $1919 and it's one of the models the dealer I visited had in stock. I don't know which models are in stock at NC dealership, but the picture someone posted showed the green model, which is what we got and it's a Moro 05. I think the other color of 05 is blue.
When I saw the $1800 price at NC, I thought originally it was the YDX, but it appears to be the 05. I didn't talk to them so cannot confirm, but based on green color I believe it is 05. If so, a screaming deal vs $2300 for 05. However, there would be shipping and do your own set up. Still a great deal after that, but I'm satisfied to have ours in hand and riding. I'm sure we'll get years of fun from them.
Just to eliminate confusion with the models, the base version of the 1st generation is the YDX Moro and is only in yellow. The Pro is the higher end model of that generation, which only comes in blue/silver. The newer gen has the 05 in forest green only (which is essentially the base model of the newer generation) and the 07 comes in navy/blue or black/gray. Also there is a special edition which comes in a ball-burnished aluminum type finish. The 07 is essentially the Pro model of the newer generation.

I bought the Moro 7 a couple months ago. It is an excellent bike. The Yamaha motor is very Bosch like in its hit. Bosch is THE emtb motor, but this Yamaha motor is 95% similar felling. The spec is excellent with XT components and Magura brakes. For the money, it's the best bike I have ever bought.
Awesome and glad you're loving the new bikes. I had the same experience when I first rode an e-mtb and so do most people, even the hardcore, I will never ride an e-bike rider.
Its Rich's Yamaha in case someone was googling it and Ricks\Yamaha\Lockport didn't get them to the right place.
I just got a quote on the YDX (yellow one) for $2300 OTD. The Moro 05 (green one) is roughly $400 more OTD. Are there a lot of differences between the two models? Would it be better for me to spend the extra money and get the 05? Based off some numbers I’m seeing here I’m thinking neither of those prices are that good.
The Moro 7 is a killer deal and spec'd great. Ie...Much better shifter, derailuer, brakes, cassette and suspension. All the important stuff you want in a really good bike. Motor is the same on the 5 or 7 model. For the price difference from the 5 to 7, it's a no brainer...Moro 7 all day long.
You may not find a price as crazy as the deal that was going on but any discount on these bikes is still a good deal, in my opinion. Especially if you are getting the 5yr warranty, I still would go for either. The base yellow is really similar to the 05. The main difference being the motor and electronics. But as I mentioned earlier in the thread, the old gen power train is honestly just as good. And since Yamaha will still honor the warranty on either, it's not a big difference. So either is fine. Cost not being a factor, I'd probably get the 05. But with the extra money in hand, you could do some upgrades in other areas on the yellow one and be ahead of where you were at the price of the 05. Get good pedals and then if you want different bars or something to dial in the bike. I went with a higher bar, for example.
Great, thanks. I’m gonna continue to poke around a bit and see what other deals I can find. I’d love to find the 05 for around $2300 or less.
Malcolm in Wilmington NC didn’t have anymore of the 05s?
Moto 13 - Are all those bikes yours? If so, what a collection!
RMT - Thanks for the kind words. Rode a tight piece of our trail today and amazed at how fast we could go. Wife is just loving it and that's important! Thinking the moto and standard mtb will see less time for 2025.
agn5008 - Don't know if prices you see are local, but are high compared to Yamaha's listed sale prices and what some folks on this thread are finding. I'd have paid to have units shipped to me if we hadn't found them close by (100 miles). Bike industry is discounting due to oversupply. Specialized supposed to drop prices pretty hard in near future. Other companies have some "good" discounts, depending upon your budget (see Jenson USA site)
AH387 - You're right, they're all a great deal compared to list.
To me, the Yamaha's are the best deal out there.
I don’t see anything listed on their website. I did send an email to them but haven’t heard back yet.
I just checked Rich's Yamaha in Chicago area and they are still showing Moro 05 in Large and Medium
If you haven't checked, Yamaha has a sizing chart on their ebike site.
Wife is 5'5' and likes the fit on the medium (she usually rides a small mtb)
I'm 6'3" and fit pretty well on the large (Need riser bar for sure, may need longer dropper seat post. I've always had to adjust bikes to fit me so I expected that)
Don't know if they ship or not - 815 - 838 - 8130
Good luck in your search
Awesome, thanks! I’ll check them out.
I’d be happy to give you Malcolm‘s number. I should have it in my text.
Chris @760-608-1688
Can I text that number in the morning? Or is that a landline to the business
This thread is awesome for the fact that people are stoked on riding these bikes and the good value of this deal.
I went the way of a GasGas Trail 3.0 this summer on a smoking deal and feel like I’m 20 again riding this bike hard, doing more laps, covering more ground and getting a great work out but most importantly it’s crazy fun!!
Enjoy folks!

That’s my number
I’ll just pm you his contact info
Hey thanks...yes, they are all mine. A bit cookoo, but after so many surgeries and plates over the years from MX, I decided to hang up the boots in 2019 after snapping my fib/tib on the CRF 450...I like walking. These bikes really take the place of my MX riding...and the fact that I probably won't wad myself up and end up in an emergence room, makes riding them a real pleasure. Plus, there are a ton of wooded single tracks to ride around me. Getting places to ride the MX bikes were getting really thin. I don't miss MX at all once I started riding the emtbs.
What do we need to do for warranty?
I bought one a couple weeks ago from Malcom in North Carolina. Don’t recall getting a receipt or anything. I just sent him money on Venmo
going foward if I had an issue, how would I handle it?
Register it onYamaha site. I think I just googled Yamaha ebike register or something like that.
I was actually in Wilmington Powersports this am grabbing some stuff for the weekend. Malcolm said they sold the last MORO on Christmas eve. Apparently they were selling 4 to 5 a day!!
Thanks again for the referral….
Moto 13: Crazy cool that you've got that collection. I've been fortunate to have only a few, none of which needed surgery. I wasn't all that fast and spent most of my dirt time trail riding and observed trials. Did road bike for 6 years and gave that up after 4-5 scary experiences. I still ride a KLX 230 and Raptor 125 on our trails, but I'm 66 this year so the e bike gives me another option for when I decide to step off the motors. As much as I've enjoyed mtb and moto the e bikes are just a different level of fun!
While we've got this thread going, if anyone has upgrade\change suggestions please pass them along to the rest of us.
We changed pedals right away and I'm ordering riser bars for me this weekend. Also looking at converting to tubeliss.
Supposed to be single digits out here next 5-7 days, so no riding...
Ramrod: Local KTM dealer has sold several of the Gas Gas, etc e bikes and our county has several good areas for trails. People are finding out how much fun these things are
Riding emtb's in the winter is great and I highly recommend it. Hardly any dust, no bugs, no mud. I ride all year. Going tomorrow and it sb around 20 outside. You warm up real quickly as you pedal. I wear a backpack in the winter...keeps your back warmer. Just wear normal lightweight clothes with insulated underwear and a light jacket, nothing bulky, and you're good to go. On really cold days, like below 10 degrees, I'll wear a full face MX helmet for warmth and a heavier jacket. The Fox Defend thermal hoodie is a frigging awesome piece...well worth the price IMHO. The hood is even thin enough to easily fit under a helmet without screwing up the fit. Like I said, I don't miss riding MX at all any longer with these bikes. Easy to load, hardly any maintenance and tons of places to ride.
Thanks for the winter tips. I'll have to look at the Fox hoodie. I do some winter riding and a fair amount of trail work and chores (firewood, etc) outside during the cold months.
It's zero here and supposed to be bad for several days.....doing a few things outside, then sitting by the wood stove.....and ordering some upgrade parts.
Does anyone know of a dealer who has any left for sale?
From the post above Wilmington Powersports is sold out, and I checked the website for the dealer in St. George Utah it says sold out online for all models.
Try J&J sales in Ohio. They show them on their website yet. 419-433-2523. I just called and spoke to Riley. They do have Moro 5's in stock. No Moro 7's left.
