A1 excitement level is a notch above the others IMO. The pits are better for it too. Lots of vendors and industry stuff going on at the race, and in the area.
Only shitty part is the $80 Uber from LAX.
Ahh yes, good catch. 6:15 doesn't work anymore. I'd guess 4:15 would work, unless they've made some major changes since the start time change?

Whatever you do....do not fly into LAX, aim for Long Beach or John Wayne or even Ontario is a better choice. LAX is not as close as it seems and the other three options are just as close or closer. Get to the stadium around noon walk the pits, go across the street for a beer at Golden Road and than head back in to watch practice. Its an all around good time and at worst it will take 40 mins to get out of the stadium in a car. My advise would be to get an uber to pick you up at one of the many fast food restaurants that are outside of the stadium and you wont have to deal with it.

What’s wrong with flying into lax? I always wish there was a closer spot. I’ve never flew into the airports you named. I’m guessing since they are not as big they will be more expensive?
The OP is from Sweden and most flights from Europe go directly to LAX. Flying to one of the smaller airports means an extra connection flight, and maybe 19 hours (or more) travel time instead of 11 hours.
Correct, LAX is my only option. Actually, I don't think LAX is that bad at all compared to most large airports, except for SIXT rental, takes ages to get there.
The immigration can take a while in my experience. I haven`t rented a car there yet, only taken the LAX-it buses.
LAX is the worst, I only use when there's no other option. John Wayne is 15 minutes from the stadium, Long Beach is a bit further, both are 100 times easier. Ontario is a cruise, but still better. It may cost more, but it's worth it.
When I used to go to Anaheim I'd park across the street in the industrial park for free. Exiting afterwards was always a breeze. Hmm...maybe I'll go this year.
Traffic is what is wrong with LAX. Ontario is not any more expensive, its a international airport about 30 miles (LAX is 40 miles) from the stadium. Its big but not as crowded and not as crazy to deal with.
Just looked to try to avoid lax. Flights about the same cost but over a 5 hour flight with layovers to get to ont. This may be an issue only with united but that’s all I fly.
I never been in LA during winter. How's the temperature at night and day? I suppose I should dress warm otherwise it will be a long night or?

Vegas is a desert so it’s always colder at night. If that’s warm for you then you be fine. I would bring a hoody though. If you go early and are in the shade it’s very cold. Then when the sun comes out it really warms up and then drops again 15 degrees or so.
It will not be as cold as Vegas … We are already getting into low 40s at night and it was 35 this morning at my house in Vegas… yikes!

There is plenty to do in that area.
It's been a while but the Anaheim PD were shitty about tailgaiting. Some LAPD friends had a motorhome and the cops wanted them out right after the show. They tried to show ID but the cops didn't care. No brass pass that night.
I've flown from one of the NY airports non-stop to Long beach on Jet Blue. Was very affordable and reasonable. Much closer and less hassle than LAX. John Wayne is the closest I believe and lots of flights from the east coast fly there, and prices are reasonable. Just book in advance.
San Diego was hands down the best tailgating atmosphere of any round. Didn't go last year so no idea how it was being back at Jack Murphy/Qualcomm/Snap Dragon.
At A1 if you are mellow you can tailgate for sure, see plenty of people doing it every year, you just can't be flaunting the alcohol and taking up three spots for ez-up's and bbq's while blaring Kid Rock on the outdoor dj setup.
Probably never more than 30 minutes to drive out after the event no matter which direction you are headed.

Ah shoot I have to change my location. I’m going there from Scottsdale az. I’m almost debating driving rather than flying then around a hour to the hotel depending on traffic. Then two days there then a uber all the way back to lax.
