First off, I’m fully capable of running the correct chain slack on my bikes.
I put a ERT3 on two of my bikes (250 2t and 350sxf) and these damn things have been stretching the last 10 hours on both bikes. Like damn near every ride.
I believe I bought them off eBay or amazon and I’m convinced they have to be knock offs at this point. There is no way a high level chain (with great reviews from a lot of people) can keep stretching like this.
Has anyone else heard of issues like this?
Most likely non legit. I run those chains and they don't stretch to that extent. I buy mine through reputable vendors. Did it come in the oem box?
Not trying to be a dick, I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon and eBay myself. However critical things on your bike that could hurt you I generally stick to trusted retailers or dealers. We’ve run the same chain with little stretching after break in but always purchased from Rocky or Motosport.
They were in what appeared to be legit boxes. Lesson learned, I’ve ran a bunch of different chains over the years and never had this issue

It might be hard to see because the pic quality, but they are stamped DID and ERT3
Very good point. I have 2 new oem ktm Regina’s I’ll throw on to hopefully save the sprockets. The 350 sprockets definitely show some wear already unfortunately
what chain lube are you using buddy?
Pro Honda red label.
Definitely shouldn’t stretch like that. I’ve run ERT3’s (and previous gen’s of ERT) for years. Generally will stretch enough to need adjustment after the first ride, then virtually nothing other than minor adjustment for the life of the chain.
Post a link to the ad you bought them from

I’m going to have to give a legit one a try. I always liked the ert2 and have read the 3 is better

That link is what comes up when you google the seller. Pretty safe to say you got a knockoff chain unless a cryotherapy and wellness center in Florida is actually selling motocross chains as a side gig. Also found it strange one of their product images was a 2-stroke pipe? Hell, might even be worth contacting Amazon and get your $100 back.
Their items for sale in Amazon is quite the interestin mix
You don’t get your MX chains and Nipple covers from the same people?
Aldon bakers?
This place is sweet… You can pick up a knock off chain and get some cryo or oxygen therapy while you wait!
Slack properly adjusted? Just have to ask as I recall KTMs need a bit more.
Did they come with warranty cards? Serial #”? Contact DID just fir shits & giggles…

I'd contact DID as well. They'll want to know if this is counterfeit and to trace it --- they'll also likely give you a REAL DID chain once they understand the situation / the bad name their product may be getting undeservedly.
Yeah I run 68-70 on the ktm and the cr is something crazy like 25mm but I run 30-35mm. I’ve pulled the shock off the cr to verify how tight the chain gets and even though the 25mm sounds crazy, it doesn’t bind or seem to tighten through the stroke at all
No I wish I would have kept the packaging
I may give that a try
RK MXU is awesome for strength & long life when kept properly lubed
i think i bought a chain from amazon a while back and it gave the option of extended warranty for 5 years or something. i giggled and thought hmmmmm last chain i ever have to pay for.
Unless its a 125, this is all I use… easy 40-60 hr chain with steel sprockets
So I swapped chains today, or tried and cut one too short so I ordered a ERT3 again, but from rockymountain. Curious about comparing it with the “knock offs”
Definitely report back. I’ve got another on the way from RM and they’ve all been great. Sucks you cut one too short! 😫
Maybe get them to send you a box of nipple pads and call it even.
Scamazon...
For starters ERT3's have quad staked rivets.
Last fake chicom crap they sold me took months to get a cash refund.
There are several YouTube videos that show the differences in packaging of lots of things. I saw one where an independent shop was showing the counterfeit packaging he was seeing on Ford and Chevy parts. This was mostly from people wanting to save a few bucks and bought their own parts on line and brought them in for installation. Good advice to buy from MotoSport, Rocky Mountain ATV or your dealer.
I noticed this when loading up after a trail ride several years ago. This is a Renthal bought from RMC. I reached out directly to Renthal. They sent me a replacement. I was skeptical about using it but eventually did. I did not have another problem.
