Sitting at Dunlop right now for presentation on the Dunlop Geomax Factory tire. Handmade factory tire, one of the specs that factory teams have access to and will be made publicly available. What do you want to know?
Nothing if we can't buy them. 🤣
I think ML meant to say will be available. Keefer posted they will be selling a spec tire exclusively at ktm dealerships. 30% mark up from reg geomax
This gonna be like the 756 RR ? Like they offered back in the early 2000's.
I'm not sure I understand, is it going to be available or not available to the public? Saw the instagram post and it was insinuating it would be available to the general public?
- What is it based off of? MX34 or completely different?
-Is it a blend of compounds?

Things I’d like to know, weight vs current offerings, and how will it work across different terrains? IE soft and ripped in the am and then hammered dry square in the pm.
Three sizes.
120/90-19 is lighter than standard by almost half a pound.
110/90-19 is slightly heavier than standard.
80/100-21 front is slightly heavier.
20% over standard prices. Roughly $150 for front and $190 for rear. Final price is up to dealer discretion.
That's ridiculous for a tire you'll get 50% less life out of lol
If you realized how cheap motocross is compared to road racing you’d know that isn’t even a consideration for a great many of folks out there who want to be competitive.
Bummer they aren't offering and 18" for us offroad guys.
I'd bet B and C riders wouldn't be able to tell the difference vs the std tires but they will be the ones buying them up lol.
This tire could probably help a local A or pro guy find another tenth or two but biggest majority won't feel a difference.
Lame that you can only get them through KTM dealers but cool that they are even offering them to the public. I wonder if they are the current spec or an older spec factory tire?
My biggest questions is why is it only a KTM part number and not something sold by Dunlop themselves or can be purchased thru distributors? Is this due to legal issues Dunlop would face for selling a "spec" tire?
I guess the simple question to ask is, what is the biggest difference between the spec tire and the traditional tire?
"Handmade factory tire," does that mean there is a production line of guys, sitting with carving knives, in hand, carving a factory tyre, knobblies and all, from a solid chunk of unobtainium rubber ?
I'm in for a handful of fronts.
I'm curious if it's only sold at actual KTM dealers, or any of the Austrian brands. The Husky shop near me is the only one I'll step foot in.
See if you can find out why the MX34 is not as good as the MX33.
As someone who road raced this is painfully true. 600 dollars on a set of slicks a weekend, and sometimes two sets a weekend if you're real fast or if the track eats tires. Lightweight bikes are a little cheaper but still 400 or so.
Pit Row
I was the guy getting your take offs. $100 for a set after someone used them for one race. My mid-pack self didn't care about the 2 tenths lol
I know that feeling, I was pulling them of the tire wall with the track owners permission 😂 New tires were a fever dream with how great they are during that first heat cycle. I would gain a few seconds with a new set personally. Part of the reason why I race dirt bikes since its so much cheaper.
Why would there be any type of legal issues selling a "spec" tire.
Id like to know what the difference is, I would say its probably the thickness/threads per inch of the carcass itself, just softer rubber isnt rocket science and isn't really good on a front tire to begin with. If they are running a more flexible carcass they will degrade faster than a normal tire and will start to get less supportive and too flexible of a sidewall explaining why they arent ran for long, not as much to do with knob degradation.
Its not made for guys like you. but for fast riders it will be a better option for the right conditions.
How many hours will they last on soft terrain?
The top buyers of this tire are gonna be the guys claiming the tires are the reason they aren’t winning C class when they’ve never even set their sag.
Softer compounds are becoming pretty popular in off road.
I bet Dunlop won't be the last company to start releasing moto tires with different compounds.
I don’t understand why the moto community acts this way. We hate on our own so much. Who cares who’s buying this tire. People have been asking for Dunlop to release a spec tire for a long time.
I have a buddy who mechanics for MCR team. He says at the races Dunlop reps have to cut up all the pull off spec tires so the public cannot use them. Maybe this is dated info and this is no longer the case, maybe ML can chime in on this and add more light to it.
I just came.
As a Vet C rider with some fun money, you bet your ass I'll buy a set!
You are on drugs if you believe this lol.
I really don’t care either way, it was merely a joke. I remember when the Dunlop 3s came out and everyone was gushing over something closer to a “spec” tire, then everyone bitched and moaned when they didn’t last as long as an intermediate tire. I just hope that doesn’t happen with this rendition.
