Hard disagree. I actually hated the new gear and logo at first, but it has definitely grown on me.
Looks better than the last 5 years of Thor and it’s something I would actually consider buying.
Wrong
FOX would be a good direction, Thor MX has fallen off the face of the earth in terms of their gear since the early 2010's. Late 2000's had some peak looking gear when they had McGrath, Pastrana, Chad Reed and all the FMX guys. The gear now especially this year's latest collection...woooof
Deegs has that much pull at Star. The other guys are usually matching each other. I heard Deegan didn’t like a certain line of Thor and how it fit and that was why he ran a certain line most the time. Ive noticed that he’ll be in his own set and his teammates will be matching in a different set like you have too.

The only thing that is similar to the EKS brand Lucid is the lever that locks the lens in. It looks and works similarly.
But as far as I know, nothing is identical or useable from the lucid on the Supertech version.
They have the Supertech the high end goggle with injection molded lens and crazy easy to change lenses with the system they have. Then they have the Vision 8 that has outriggers but a regular non injection molded lens, Vision 5 and vision 3 round out the Adult line and share lenses and tear offs with each other. All of the Vision models 9 8,5 and 3) use the same lenses and tear offs. They also have a Youth model that is a basic goggle. And full line of roll offs and tear offs and replacement lenses in all the tints and colors.
I've worn Scott Prospects for the past few years. The 100% goggles I've tried tend to pinch my giant nose. I bought a pair of the Supertech to try out since I wear an SM8 or SM10. And I am in love with them! I'm going to use the pair I have now for a while and see if I run into any issues . But I plan on changing over to them . Its so easy to change the lens and not end up with finger prints all over it. Even the first time I tried popping it out and putting it back in, went very smoothly. No real trick to doing it. It really is as easy to swap as it looks in videos. I've shown customers onetime and let them try it, and they can do a lens swap in about 5 to 10 seconds the first try , after watching me do it one or 2 times. Normally I do it onetime and they ask to see how I did it o fast. And then want to try. Other than maybe the goggles that have a magnetic way of holding a lens in, they have to be the easiest to change a lens of any goggle I've ever seen.
It has a stiffer outer frame that holds the lens and is part of the outriggers, and then the inner frame is softer and molds to Your face. So the stiffness of the molded lens is not a problem. The foam is firmer than my prospects, but softer than all the 100% foam I've tried.
Overall they are a really great goggle, and I'm surprised the Lucid has not done better after seeing and feeling the way the lens comes in and out on the Alpinestars.
A little insight on this one...Red Bull will authorize licensing for event-oriented pieces, like Straight Rhythm, Rampage, etc. - you'll notice that this helmet is specifically tied to the Gran Premio de Espana, but they do not authorize for purely Red Bull branded / color-scheme products akin to what their athletes wear. Has to be tied to one of their signature events.
Take it from my office - we are not pulling out of "elite level racing", nor MXGP. Expect to see the Star Racing 250 team in THOR again for years to come.
It was multiple riders that did not like that old line. I noticed that Deegan has been wearing the replacement for that line of gear now. And riders that I only saw wearing Prime are now wearing a mix , either of the 2 new lines. Sometimes Star has had 2 riders in one line or colorway and 2 in another. I've seen them do that often. They have so many riders , I have not really noticed other teams doing that. It makes sense to me. Having a Team look and the riders wearing the same gear every round gets boring and I would think that having them in different colorways brings more attention to the brand each week.
I am pretty sure the Silly season thread had Star wearing Astars goggles, boots and helmets and said Thor was their gear. That was the first time I heard about them switching. And then I heard pulp talk about it. With the new Star guys wearing the Alpinestars goggles already, and in Thor gear, it makes sense to stick with it.
There has been other times in history that a 125/250 team rider has gotten special treatment too. RC wore Fox and somebody paid a fine , when he was on PC. Thats a much more extreme case. Stewart went right to the Factory team and skipped PC. I think Chad Reed had something in his deal about gear colors when he was on YOT. But its been done a lot in the past when You have a rider that has a lot of fans and bright future.
To a point you are correct - all riders at this level have preferences when it comes to fit and function. While we try to spread kits around throughout the season, putting riders in both our midrange (Launchmode) and top end (Sportmode), so that consumers can see that the performance is fit for professionals with either model, the riders will mostly (but not always) gravitate toward the premium stuff.
I think the exception was RV. I think in 2013 he ran the Phase stuff all year vs the core right?
You know, I think you are right about that. I also do recall that he only ran our Spectrum glove, which was our entry level piece as well at the time. He was just never a fan of the evolution to lighter / tighter / stretchier.
Although, Jett has more titles, a decision like this all comes down to marketing and sales. Once you combine Deegan‘s followers on instagram, YouTube and other social platforms, he has a literal Army of millions of people supporting him. It only makes sense from a brand’s perspective that Haiden would get the first signature helmet.
I completely agree with you and everything you said makes sense to me now. Haiden simply has just more marketing power than jett. We only see jett post stories and occasionally posts, but his current personality isn't helping him much either I think. Sorry if I came off as rude, just being honest.
for wht its if im not mistaken Jett the only 1 in 450s tht have a signature goggle, I might gotta do further research but while deegz got the social media game on lock , as long as Jett keeps winning & dominating, mertz working behind the scenes got Jett covered with signature deals
Yeah, your right.
Both Tomac and Sexton have signature Oakley Airbrakes
Keep yo head up blood.
ohhh yea they both got them Oakley joints 🤦🏾♂️ funny enuff my manz said something to me about chase goggles couple months ago
