You need to stand on the freezing beach in an inch of water and see it live.

Impossible to follow to livestream it, without helicopters and a huge budget .

I guess they will be using drones.

I did Weston 4 times, the most satisfying feeling I have ever had on a motocross bike is coming over the line knowing you had a good race and your bike still runs.

I know he’s an elite level rider, but 7th on your first attempt is still extremely good.

i did it 3 times i, holeshot one of the qualy races, back when you had to race your way in , and finished it, nothing would get me back out there now.

Scariest race i ever did , by a factor of 10.

While its still a big event, it doesnt get the level of entry it used to, most of the top 40 UK guys would do it, but now its a few top guys, some top regulars, and the rest are decent local/MX and enduro guys.  Top 25 is decent, top 50 is respectable, after that , finishing is everything.

There will be a ton of stuff out in the next week or so, some will be amazing, some will be scary.

Why enter any race?

Back when i was 21, i was revved for it, everyone did it, and it was (and still is) the biggest event in the UK.

Nothing beats the flat out run down the beach, its a buzz , but when you are at the front, you are one nipped 2 stroke away from a real bad day.

My racing days are long gone, but it looks like a great time to me, if I were 30 years younger.

If the WFO bomb run doesn't get your heart pounding, you are dead inside. Sounds like a WWII bombing raid. The event is a party too, bragging rights, insanity, etc. Look forward to this every year. Barcia dis as well as I expected him too, it is quite a different race than an Enduro and so on. If he ever comes back, he will be even better. People love this. The French race is pretty awesome too.

I watch those Desert racing guys, and wonder how the hell they do it.  They are unreal at any level.

Where is kellet at this year and Bolt, some big names missing

It is but not half as impressive as Mewse who was making his debut as well and his fastest lap was nearly half a minute faster than Justins. Was watching the lap times on the internet for a short time and Conrad was lapping a handfull of seconds slower at the halfway mark compared to his fastest lap which i am guessing he set on the opening one? He must be super fit even with a broken bone in his ankle. Well done to him and every other rider that made it to the finish.Going Have never paid to much attention to this race before but have now decided that i am going to go and watch it now.

I thought I read Conrad has raced it before, still a good effort by Justin though. Not sure what the difference would have been for Justin without the fuel stop, everyone has to refuel.

He has, not his first go round. third or possibly 4th go at it.

I think he meant that he had a stock tank and had to keep stopping, but its a different race with a huge tank on, especially early on.

Great that he enjoyed it, i heard he wanted to race here when he was done in the USA, so i guess this is a start.

Not sure how things are now with FI etc but back in the day, going back to when it first started in the mid ‘80’s,  one of the sketchiest things was cold seizures at the end of the start straight.

Buds of mine that were dialled for it had their bikes geared to do 100 mph + in top, so they’d be tapped out for well over a mile down the straight and if you just shut all the way off and that cold autumn air was rushing over your motor at that speed you could easily get a cold air seizure .

They’d retro fit a handle bar mounted choke lever to the bars and when it came time to shut off they’d pull the choke on and keep it on 1/8th gas until mid corner .

Kellets brother almost died there several years ago when he seized first lap down that straight and a bunch of guys plowed him full tilt .

The choke lever thing is pretty cool! My buddy Rob Holyoake finished I think first 2 stroke in 29th place at Le Touquet in 2017 or 2018. Without the choke lever he wouldn’t have finished. I think that same year a few rounds before he cold seized on the beach.

At the French rounds the top guys rides some trick bikes.

For the challenge.

It’s also a great way to end the season. Get somewhere to stay with all your mates, head down on Friday for sign on, watch the quads and sidecars Saturday and go racing Sunday. Even if you have a bad race it’s still a great weekend.

That would be an awesome time, I’m tempted to fly over and buy a bike to race the event. I was looking at secondhand 450s on Facebook marketplace there……doable.

Bam came up to lap me at the corner before the big straight. I heard a bike banging off the limiter & i thought that sounds like bam. I checked up & bam laid her into the berm true bam style. ✊🏻 It was great to have him over.

Cant wait to hear his thoughts lol

I finished 13th in the over 40 class out of 191 entries, & 154 in the main race. I was happy enough for my first go at it. I was very far back in the parc ferme & i ran to my bike but then had to wait till some older gentleman walked slowly to the bikes. I was blocked in & without knocking bikes over (which i wasnt going to do) i just had to wait. I started probably in the last 75 or so & By the time i got down to the beach the top boys were already at the end of the straight.
I quickly passed about 50-60 bikes & got involved in some carnage on a dune not of my own making. The bike overheated, so much steam i couldn’t even see! Lol i let it cool, fired it up & realised i was now without any clutch. I was probably in the last 50 bikes. & I thought i was done before id even got a lap.
However i managed to nurse it around with no clutch to the big straight & to my surprise by the time i got to the bottom of the straight it had cooled off a bit & my clutch was back. From there i nursed it to the finish the best i could. The clutch just kept coming & going every lap lol. That led to a fair few crashes because anytime someone stopped infront of me i had to way to stop except kill the bike or bump into them. I plodded away & worked up to 154. It was a great experience & id love to do it again but its expensive. Im sure its cost me £1200 all in. It doesnt help im from Ireland so i had to ship the bike & then flights, hotels & hire car, then entry was over £200 & then new gear & bike parts needed. etc. plus a tub of Zudo cream for the 3rd degree burns on my arse!

I have to say, i have never seen ruts so deep in my life & i’ll never look at a run the same way again! 🤣

I did it one year on a KX80.  It was the best fun ever!  On the harder, packed sand turns that bike was faster than anything.

I don't know what it is about Fletch interviews but that kid really manages to get riders to answer questions honestly.

This must be some sort of hint to Mxgp teams maybe…very brutal race to do and he did well so could be something for him in 2026 to do a lot more Euro races. Triumph!?

I was in the pits, i crewed for Ben & Nathan Watson when they were on 150 Honda's, and Rob Meek was going to do it on a 450, we sat for ages before they called it. Have to say i feared the worst for a long time.

I cant remember if that was the last year they went straight up the beach or not, now they have a short straight going the wrong way first which makes it safer, but all the surface water means you cant see a thing.

Its better now its mostly 4 strokes, but last time i did it, there were sidecars and quads in the main race, which was nuts.

We had our CR500 geared for 128MPH, but it was windy so we dropped a tooth on the front, it was still fast enough to holeshot the heat, and use 1st and not much clutch in the twisties.  I nipped at the end of the straight, as the choke mech broke, so we didnt richen it up. left it for 15 mins and it restarted it, nursed it back to the pit.

Was a buzz, we started in a V back then i had had a 2 digit number that got me at the front, on the inside, so went up right next to the fence , if it nipped i could dive into the fence.

Its Barmouth Beach Race this weekend, which is more of a short course MX deal, 5 moto's on the beach, all sand, no water , and also Weymouth which is the same thing pretty much but down the other end of the country.

Skegness was the best , run by the British Masters, it was bottomless coarse sea shells sand, you couldnt drive on it unless you were on a tracked vehicle, it was brutal tough, Potisek came and did it a couple of times.

Le Touquet is the best , fast , reasonably dry and great to watch, clashes with the Hawkstone International in 2025 though.
