About to list my GG EX 350, and I’m seriously considering getting a 250RX. Seems that I can do an exhaust, Vortex, and revalve on the Honda for less than a stock Austrian 350. The Austrian bikes have been good to me though… has anyone made the switch without regret?

I would sooner than later, with the current economic state used bike sales are crap right now. I had to stomach $6500 for my 2024 YZ250F with 8 hours on it cause market is crap here. Nice though to pay cash for the new bike and not be in a bind selling the old either for once in my life.

I’m fully prepared to take a beating on this bike 😂. My question is more so, will I regret going from a 350 Austrian bike to a 250 Japanese bike

I had a brief stent with a SX150 it felt like a Kia of dirt bikes. Cool and fun but crap build quality. I don’t think you’ll have any regrets when with basic maintenance the Honda lasts you twice as long and fetches better resale down the road.

Pinning this to track for myself as well. I'm considering this new CRF250 with all the good feedback I've been reading. Currently ride an Austrian 250f. The motor is fantastic stock and I enjoy how well it corners. Also my first hydro clutch and I like it. I see the Honda engine won't have that extra ooompf the KTM has up top, but I'm not a top end revver and the nimbleness that everyone notices with the '25 Honda's handling sounds nice.

I'm in grad school right now and I'm hoping to treat myself to a new machine in 2025 when I graduate. This KTM is an awesome bike, but new ones are pretty steep if I decided to stay orange. That Honda Red is catching my eye and would pair well with my '01 CR in the garage Wink

Feels. Just graduated with my MSN and NP Honda was my grad gift to myself. When I pass boards will be a new truck, wife even agreed to raptor, not wanting payments again though so probably another Taco.

Cool to hear, congrats! Fellow taco bro myself. Wife and I might end up in Knoxville TN given the jobs there for me. Trussville AL isn't too far. What dealer did you use?

Southern Powersports ask for Gus. Ya this is taco number 12, she’s paid off so trying to keep it that way. Had deposit on a 4th gen, drove it and was not a fan. That and transmissions failing TSB.

Not sure what year your Austrian bike is but this 25 250f motor is far better than my wife’s 2019 fc250. It’s just hands down better, revs faster, hits way harder in the low/mid and honestly pulls way harder up top. I’m a Honda guy that last rode Honda’s in 2012, but I still love them. That’s why I like the 23-24ktm chassis, it’s way more Honda like than the 19-22 frames. Turns in way quicker and the front wheel bite is amazing.

Yep I have a 2020 250sxf. That’s good to hear about the new ‘25 model. I do think KTM and these Hondas are my top two at the moment. Still a ways out from purchasing so a lot can change from now until then. Honestly, might just come down to whichever offers the better deal at the dealership. Could be a $2000 difference between the two bikes.

The one in TN? Google says there’s multiple Southern Powersports. But thanks man, I’ll keep that in mind. I got a 3rd gen SR. Just the most basic V6 4x4 is all I need. Paid off as well!

A Honda 250 is down on power quite a bit compared to a 350.

I don't see that as being an issue unless you plan on winning the A class.

All these how great thou are threads and it seems folks really do dump their 350's. LMAO!

Vet old slow guy, never got out of C class even in my prime, 165ish lbs the amount of dudes who tell me I should get a 350 at the track unsolicated. Its a weird cult/talking mantra. I'm good and always have been on 250's even the "slow honda."

The guy I replied to is currently on a 350. He will probably notice the power loss. Whether that is a problem or not is up to him but going from a 350 to the least powerful 250 (except Suzuki) is something to think about.

For sure, but a 250 for most has plenty.

You are an outlier, Honda and Yamaha are well known and have proven as the most reliable for years now. Just the weight of the bolts, fit and finish, one is clearly built for longevity, the other for racing.

Don't get me wrong, I still drink the Kool-Aid of the Church of the 350... I'm on my 3rd one and they are amazing machines. There's enough power down low to lug it most of the time, but they also rev to the moon. As they say though, variety is the spice of life, and I guess I'm just looking for something a little different after spending the last 6 years on a 350.

With regard to power, racing these bikes on the track would be a big difference, but keep in mind that I'm looking at the RX because I'm in the woods 90% of the time. Even at my speed (faster B class/ backseat of A class lol), it's rare that I can let the 350 eat through the trees. I'm thinking a 250RX with a Vortex should still be enough with some more twisting of the throttle.

Still up in the air about the whole thing though...

For woods a 250f is great especially if it gets slick at all. The biggest issue with the Honda 250 in the woods is the clutch is on/off. There isn't much modulation available with the stock clutch.

Got some more seat time on my 25 450 yesterday. It's REALLY good. Bottom end and midrange seem barkier than my 23. Chassis is definitely more stable but the fork bottoms easier than the last gen.

I might just add a little fork oil to see if that helps before going to stiffer springs.

Question - Does anyone make precut number plate backgrounds yet? None of the graphic company websites I've checked show a visual of their 25 plates.

I used Throttle Jockey and the fit was perfect and delivery really quick. You can select the Factory kit and select the part you desire (choose only the number plate).

The 450 got second in MXA's shootout. I'm pretty surprised as that has to be the best a Honda has done in their shootout in decades! They're always so critical of red bikes. If there's one imperfection the average mortal would never notice, they'll make sure you read about it and try to convince you that it's a major problem. Everything I've heard about these 25's has been positive. Damn, I really want to ride one!

Are you upgrading from your 24?

Yes, WE comes in mid October. Plan to keep it stock besides a twin air powerflow kit and probably some stiffer springs, depending on what they ship with the WE.

I like your style…..I emailed Keefer he says even with the last generation with the Ride clamps and improvements I made the nod still goes to the 25 with the chassis improvements.   Friggin dirt bikes.
