...some guys love the attention and fans they get from the drama, and being edgy.
it's a tried and true formula - I doubt that anything you see and hear from The Deegan's is spontaneous, as Brian is a highly intelligent master marketer and knows exactly what his and Haiden's fans want. Look at their Youtube channel's success for proof.
...some guys let their riding do the talking for them, I'll use Jett Lawrence and Eli Tomac as examples. You don't hear much from them on or off the podium about other riders.
Brian wasn't good enough to make a living racing, he had to create a gimmicky t shirt company to pay the bills. Haiden doesn't have that problem, he can let his riding do the talking if he wants to. Brian is in his ear though
C'mon man. Don't disrespect Brian's ability to ride a dirtbike. How many freestyle medals does he have? You left that part out.
His race results weren't bad either in regards to his 6 years racing AMA Pro events. Even won LA in 1997 (125class). He beat plenty of factory guys and guys with a lot more support than he had. He moved on to doing his own thing with less rules and it worked out great for him. He's gotta be worth at least 10Mil or so. And he can still ride pretty dam well.

He said racing, not freestyle.
He was fast and could ride.
He had zero Suzuki support...just Jordan and the other Moto XXX guys helping him out. Smoked some fast factory guys.
Funny thing about his after race interview... One of the Team Suzukui guys stuck that hat on his head. Team Suzuki never gave him not even 1 bolt or nut for that bike.
The real issue is that Suzuki didn't make big bore kits
This👆
They ran one at Washougal 1 year, That's the only time I know of.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful, and yeah he accomplished a lot in freestyle, my point is Haiden can make a killer living racing which Brian was unable to do. He doesn't need gimmicks or anything. So it's weird he chooses to use them
I know his whole moto story and the 167cc bike.
He won one race in his whole pro carrer and that’s nothing compared to what he managed to do in freestyle so i still don’t get it why people got offended by a true statement that Brian never were good enough to earn great money in racing.
In regards to racing he was never in with the so-called in crowd and hung with the more rebellious party crowd. But he could ride and was fast and talented. Had he cleaned his image up he more than likely would've got the Suzuki ride that Damon Huffman got. Who knows what he could've done with better stuff and a better program? We will never know.
And in regards to the 167cc - I know they ran it one year at Washougal. But not in SX,even after his win that bike was impounded by the AMA and inspected and was legit.
Actually, he clearly stated: "...so the team has made the decision to not let me attend the mxon to make sure I can make pre season training this year..."
Unless he can't string a sentence together and really meant: "so the team has made the decision to allow me to not attend the MXON...".
I've heard the same things from others - that's he actually a nice kid. All this shite is manufactured by Brian.
We shall see. The point is can he go where he needs to go to beat Jett without crashing? Jett has seldom if ever had to push beyond his comfort zone so it seems he has more speed ready to unplug if needed.
I think the combination of Haiden's great riding lately and Jett's riding while injured lately have made people forget how phenomenal Jett is. I use phenomenal in it's real sense, not just as hypebole.
Yeah, but who gives two solitary fucks about FMX? FMX is bullshit, SX and MX are true motorsports - that is, they involve racing, not circus tricks.
I've always preferred racing to freestyle.
However,FMX got huge here and a lot of people love it.
That's how Pastrana and Deegan made their millions.
The circus stuff was shockingly impressive and easy to market to the mainstream. XGames ect...
XGames back in the day with TP doing that double backflip got more viewers than all the supercross races combined that year.
Pit Row
I would love to be but the amount of Swifting for him drives me bananas
It’s going to be awesome that’s for sure. And I agree I don’t think we’ve seen Jett really really hanging it out on the 450 yet but we might today.
Deegan the racer is the most exciting guy to watch in either class right now, hands down.
His interviews are a product of someone with a third grade education raised on instagram clips and regurgitating podcast info, or as the kids would say..he is cringe AF.
The entire sport is headed down a dark path of non verbal, clones making their way to the professional ranks. I would enjoy these last few years while we have them before we have a paddock of these droids.
Yeah cause freestyle is sooooooooo easy and safe lol.
Actually the upcoming generation is going to be the most media savvy generation we’ve ever seen.
